OT Mel Tucker accused of moving money in divorce
I know it's the free press but only place I saw it. He seems like such a great guy...
https://www.freep.com/story/news/investigations/2024/04/30/msu-football…
Jesus, what a shit show. I had forgotten what a piece of work this guy was until the article's summary of events.
Mel just wants to yank her chain and sees what comes out of this.
He's a yanking sort for sure.
Tuck cuming!
Quit beating around the bush
Ol Mel Tugger at it again.
For those decision making geniuses at State, that 2021 win over Michigan was the ultimate in fools gold. Imagine being spooked into giving Tucker, with his history of mediocrity, $95 million because maybe LSU would hire him away. They should have been so fortunate.
Mel's agent deserves every dollar he got for the con job he pulled on Alan Haller and whoever the President of State was at the moment.
An epic con job followed within 24 months by one of the most epic bag fumbles of all time.
Saban deserves some credit too. Would they have overreacted like this if LSU hadn't hired Nick away in 1999?
Mel's agent deserves every dollar he got for the con job he pulled on Alan Haller and whoever the President of State was at the moment.
Mel's agent must be so pissed off. They conned MSU into a $95 million guaranteed contract, then see it all wanked away by a truly awful decision by Mel to express himself in an undignified and gross sexual power play to a prominent sexual assault survivor and advocate. I can't imagine Mel's conversation with his agent afterwards.
Mel: "Was that wrong?"
Agent: click
Not certain, but it would be usual for the agent to get all or nearly all of their commission upfront with the first payment.
Mel: "Was that wrong?"
Agent: click
kind of how most of his conversations go, it seems
MSU fans exhibit characteristics of Stockholm Syndrome.
and active infections for rabies and tertiary syphillis
Tugger's agent only collected a small percentage of what he was going to make since MSU didn't have to pay him the full contract/fired him for cause.
Exactly. Thus the agent is really pissed off.
Kenneth Walker deserves as much of that pay if not most/all
Is anyone surprised? He's quite good at this.
He's already managed to move 100 million dollars already from his bank account back to MSUs. Moving a few more away from his ex should be child's play for him.
Still can't believe this guy threw $100 MILLION in the trash. All because he couldn't keep it in his pants.
It's even worse than that, though! All he had to do was keep it in his pants for, like, five more minutes until he hung up the phone, and then just shut up and keep his fantasies to himself.
If he wanted to be a creep pervert douchebag and jack it while on the phone, ok, but don’t admit to it when confronted. Claim you’re out of breath from jogging or you drank too much coffee or something. Also, don’t double down and admit it to your superiors later.
More importantly, maybe pick literally any other person on the planet
You think he was wearing pants?
OMG Bottomless?
Most likely he was going Porky Pig during that call.
Almost makes one think that Brenda Tracy or whatever her name was, was a corporate plant, to get them out of their contract. That seems as plausible as one risking that kind of money just to get laid.
As fun as that would be, it doesn't seem likely. They saved, what, $75 million on the Tuck contract? I didn't read this article, but another one said Tracy is planning to sue MSU for $75 million. If she was a plant, then she magnificently turned the tables on both Mel and Staee.
Although this sort of outcome would be par for the course in EL.
Although I would still of course convert both to wins if I could, aren't the 2012 NCAA upset to Ohio and the 2021 Kenneth Walker game pretty much locks for the best losses for basketball and football, respectively?
Is the thought behind the 2012 loss that Burke came back because of it?
That, but also it burnished Ohio's coach John Groce enough to be hired by Illinois, which a) caused Caris Levert to decommit from OU and also b) tanked Illinois hoops for a few years
Ahhh, thanks for the refresher.
I disagree
I would want Mel there as long as possible. In retrospect he was a total loser and a bad coach who got lucky 1 year. MSU got a get out of jail free card (or relatively free) and could hire someone with basic ethics. It would have been much better to see another 5 years of Mel and then a sad buyout 75+ million in, circa 2030.
That’s the thing though - Tucker would’ve been there forever because of the KW3 game; but not even Walker is good enough to save Mel from his own right hand.
With the definition of 'best loss' being used here, it will be tough to keep the 1987 loss to Arizona State in the Rose Bowl out of the top spot. That brought John Cooper to Ohio State and a 10-2-1 run in The Game including Michigan beating some stacked OSU teams like 1995 & 1996.
Tucker could be second but no way the best loss in football.
oh! That's a good shout. We were probably gonna beat MSU more often than not anyways, but Cooper was the right guy at the right time. (Though he did elevate their recruiting profile in a way that Tressel probably benefitted from)
I was always indifferent on the guy once he was hired and throughout his first 3 years. Thought he was just "meh" at best and "kinda crap" at worst as a football coach.
As a personality and individual, dude just struck me as a bump on a log...
Perhaps the bump and the log were true but in a different context.
Brinks Truck Coming!
True or not, these allegations are made in pretty much every divorce case involving substantial assets.
But given what we know about Tugger it certainly sounds like a credible allegation.
Yep.
I've never gone through a divorce --- but man, A LOT of them get brutally ugly.
Choose your life partners wisely.
Yeah I mean every man in an acrimonious divorce is just shoveling money towards his ex in court proceedings.
Mel is a mother tucker but gosh most guys are trying to protect assets from the person they are trying to run from.
I wonder if he's trying to hide in this fine ride..
My apologies for not being able to link Mel and his "SD4L" Polaris..
Are we STILL doing the ''sorry in advance, this is a FREEP article" 15+ years later?!
lol.
it's just so weird.
Ask in 15+ years if Pete Thamel is welcome outside the stadium when visiting AA.
Amazingly, he "moved it" while on the phone with her.
I'm quite disappointed that MSU gets a mulligan on such a terrible hire. Should have been saddled for like 8 more years with that terrible, terrible contract
"I, uh, lost the money in the cryptocurrency crash. Yeah! The cryptocurrency crash! That's the ticket!"
I saw this on USA Today.
Mel and his wife were granted a mutual restraining order preventing the "dissipation of marital assets", per the article there. I guess he drained two retirement accounts and moved that money to an account she could not access, as well as spent money from the joint credit to defend himself in court, something she also did not authorize.
I get that legal fees of the magnitude that Mel has been tied in can be extremely expensive (no doubt for him it has been in the 7-figure range), however I still struggle to comprehend how someone like him is already pulling money from his retirement to make ends meet. He has netted well over $20-25 million dollars in his career. Take into account everything his bank account probably received around 12-15 million over the course of his coaching career.
I just can't fathom spending basically all of that. I get it's easier when you (unless royally f-ing up) have 75 million more guaranteed coming your way, but still. It doesn't compute honestly because I never have nor ever will have that type of capital. However, I've been able to have probably the most middle of middle class jobs, be a single income family with 3 kids and another on the way, and even I think I have more than I need to have a very comfortable life for my family and future. Maybe it's the fact that I never picked up an expensive cigar and whisky hobby like Mel (not to mention how much he may have spent on OnlyFans).
