Spartan, Big House, Ryan Field (for several UofM games and one _uckeye), Toilet Seat, Ross-Ade, Memorial (ILL ed.), Kinnick, Camp Randell, High Point Solutions (Fun Fact: Name after WWII hero Private H.P. Solution).
As for arenas: Chrisler & Yost. Also Breslin Center, but not for MSU. I saw a Jordan-era Bulls pre-season game there.
I've been to:
Iowa
Northwestern
Wisconsin
But at some point I realized, it kind of sucks to root for the visiting team.
That's why I only keep going to Northwestern.
Not a long list, I'm sorry to say.
Football: East Lansing Bleachers, Penn State Farmlands, West Lafayette in blazing heat, Northwestern lake side, and Bloomington. Big House.
Basketball: Jenison Fieldhouse (great barn); Bloomington; and Chrysler Arena.
I consider myself veteran young guy at 51 years but to be honest, I"m getting up there and I don't anticipate radically expanding this list.
Football
Michigan (season tickets), Illinois, Northwestern, Maryland, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan State
Hoping for Nebraska next year
Basketball
Michigan (season tickets), Michigan State
I’ve only been to Ryan Field. Got a chance to sit with the Michigan parents thanks to Charlotte McKeon giving us her tickets.
But holy cow was I unimpressed with that stadium. Just felt like a huge high school stadium. Very dirty and dark on the concourse too.
That's one of Northwestern's Charms for me. You're so close to everything that it's an amazing experience and really changes the speed of everything happening. It's one of my favorite trips because I know every time I go, I'll be close to the action no matter where my tickets are.
Football - Illinois (6), NW (5), Purdue (4), Indiana (3), Iowa (2), Wisconsin
Basketball - Illinois (7), Wisconsin (2), Purdue
I live near St. Louis so Illinois is high on the list only 2 hrs.
Football
- Michigan Stadium (duh)
- The horsehole (2003: OSU vs BGSU)
- Memorial Stadium - IU (2019)
- Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl as well
Hockey
- Yost
- Munn
- Schott (or whatever OSU’s rink is called now)
I've seen probably 20 games at Ohio Stadium (UM '94, '96, '16, '18). MSU, Purdue, Indiana, Penn State.
For basketball, I didn't see a game at Jennison, but I've been in there. Old St. John (OSU) was a great place to catch a game. Value City Arena is soulless. Had tickets for the B1G tourney this year (womp womp.) Assembly Hall in Bloomington is still on the list.
Hockey: Yost, UIC Pavilion
Basketball: Crisler, Welsh Ryan, Assembly Hall (Illinois), United Center (2019 Big 10 tourney), Lucas Oil (Elite 8 vs. Kentucky)
Football: Big House, Ryan Field, Kinnick, Notre Dame, Ross-Ade, Maryland, Memorial Stadium, Spartan Stadium, several bowl games in Florida, Jerry World (Bama and Florida), 2008 Rose Bowl (U of I vs USC)
OSU
MSU
Purdue
Illinois
Northwestern
Notre Dame (sorta counts?)
Haven't done an away basketball game yet at a non-neutral site. But I went to the recent final four in San Antonio and the Palace I think three times.
Football I've done Maryland, OSU, PSU, MSU, Wisconsin, Northwestern, ND as well as the bowl game in Atlanta in 2018 and the opener in Dallas in 2017. I had flights booked to Washington to go this year for the opener and mini vacation but isn't going to happen now.
I really only started going to some away games in 2013 so I've got some catching up to do to hit all of the B1G schools. 2021 I'll probably go to Nebraska, 2022 probably Iowa , then I'll definitely go to Texas and Oklahoma assuming those games still happen.
Lacking only, Maryland, Rutgers and Northwestern in both football and basketball.
Also been to Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas and Miami to see football.
Syracuse, Villanova, St. Johns and Virginia in basketball.
NIT in the Garden.
Camp Randall and the Horseshoe are big fun.
I'm told that Assembly Hall doesn't rock like it used to. I hope that isn't true.
Missing Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers but have been to ND many times, Washington, Oregon, UCLA, which is the Rose Bowl ofcourse and 7 Rose Bowls and many other Bowl Games. Autzen Stadium was the loudest and a wonderful environment as was Washington. Also went to Jerry's World for the Alabama game. I still believe Michigan Stadium is the best but view at the Rose Bowl is the best.
Northwestern football and basketball
Wisconsin's Camp Randall
MSU football and basketball. Blechhh.
So, not very many.
My Big 10 list is a little short:
Football: Indiana, Illinois, Wiscy, MSU, and Purdue.
I do count myself lucky that I’ve been able to go the Rose Bowl (Woodson!), Orange Bowl (Brady!), and Notre Dame (2010 Denard!). Also managed to get to a couple of Frozen Fours which I highly recommend.
All Original 10, but I completed that feat well after Penn State was part of the B1G but before expansion to 12
No more than the last time one of these threads was posted.
All the football stadiums in the B1G but the Horseshoe and the new MN stadium (went to the unbelievably bad HHH dome). Rutger and Maryland don't count.
I have been to every BTN football stadium except Nebraska and Minnesota. Also, been to Notre Dame and Syracuse. Bowl games At Orlando and Atlanta. I saw Tennessee vs Georgia at Nehlen. Western and Eastern as well.
Team - Most Recent Visit
- Michigan Stadium - 2018, Nebraska
- Beaver Stadium - 2019, Michigan
- Was moving back to PA from Texas last October and adjusted my trip slightly so I would get to go to this game with friends.
- Was also at this stadium when I was looking to go to PSU as a transfer student in Summer 2012. I was approached by two reporters asking what my opinions were of the JoePa statue I was next to. Turns out, it was torn down either later that night or the next morning.
- Byrd/Maryland Stadium - 2019, Michigan
- Bought tickets the night before the game and drove down (I live only an hour away). This stadium just appears out of nowhere. You drive through a fairly-woodsy highway just outside DC and then next thing you know you are at the stadium. The stadium itself is not great and has certainly seen better days. However, with this beat-down performance, we moved progressively from the upper deck down to the first row behind the Michigan bench in a matter of 1 quarter. Overall, the game was 70% Michigan fans at the start and probably closer to 95% by the 4th quarter. Their stadium is also right on campus so I got to check out the school and wander around after the game. Beautiful campus.
- Rutgers Stadium (Forgot name) - 2016, Michigan
- What a game. Saw Rutgers just get murdered. Their stadium is nice, though.
- Ohio State - Summer 2012
- Was moving from PA to TX and stopped at their stadium on the way to just see it real quick. It is pretty and the rotunda is pretty cool.
- Wisconsin - 1999, Michigan
- Michigan stopped Dayne from getting the rushing record and bottled him up nicely. Not gonna lie, I was 9 years old at this game and totally fell asleep from halftime until halfway into the 4th quarter.
- Also been multiple times without a game going on. In fact, before they enclosed the stadium in the mid-2000s, you could walk right in and play on the field. The slope on their field is/was unreal. Going side to side on their field and you felt like you were either running up or down a hill.
Other College-Only Stadiums
- Notre Dame Stadium
- Passed by it when it was being renovated on my way to Chicago. There was an outhouse right against the stadium with a part of the plastic broken off, revealing part of the stadium itself. To say I didn't take the chance to pee on a rival's beloved stadium would be a lie.
- Alamodome
- Attended for a UTSA vs. Arizona game in 2014 where I got to see legendary Michigan coach Rish Rodriguez come within an inch of losing to the mighty roadrunners of UTSA.
- Also went a few months prior for the Alamo Bowl for Mack Brown's last game. I came away amazed by just how good Marcus Mariota was as he dismantled Texas. As a Titans fan, I would go on to hate Mariota
- Bobcat Stadium - 2017
- Attended a Texas State game vs. UTSA and really enjoyed the stadium. For a relatively new D1 team, their stadium is pretty nice.
- Apogee Stadium - 2017
- The University of North Texas has by far the best non-power 5 stadium. Everything about this venue is first class.
- DKR Stadium - 2012
- UT has a massive stadium, and your experience in this stadium depends on which side you are on. If you are on the west side, you are in the sun all game long and on the side with no amenities and seats that make Michigan stadium feel roomy. If you are on the north or east side, you are in the new sections of the stadium built for modern Americans. The tailgate experience is pretty sweet, though, and is spread out through all of downtown Austin and flows directly into dirty 6th street for added fun.
- Sun Bowl - 2019
- Early last Fall before moving, we took a trip to El Paso for a weekend. Ended up going to a game. Their stadium is built right into the hills and overlooks Mexico, but is in pretty bad shape. The surrounding campus is certainly one of the most unique around and looks like your in Tibet.
For those of you wanting to visit Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, it's worth the trip with one caveat: make sure you're sitting in one of the newer sections of the stadium. I've been there twice. The first time was when Denard was injured and didn't play in the 2nd half. The game was brutal, and I was sitting way up high in the endzone with the big screen/scoreboard. I have a bum knee, and I felt like I was climbing Mt. Everest to get to my seat, to the point where I decided I wasn't leaving the area until the game was over. Getting to a bathroom or concessions would have taken forever. The next time I went, the new addition was complete and that's where I sat. It was like night and day. No more than 10-20 steps to get out into the concourse with concessions and bathrooms, and escalators available to get to different levels. The fans were as nice as could be, and make sure to get a runza while you're there (which is basically a pasty).

Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers, Minn, Purdue, NW
No basketball
All of them several times. Except Nebraska, Rutgers, and Maryland.
Been to 6/14. Doubt I can improve on that as I live in the extreme northeast corner of the country. But I will say, I wouldn't care to see one stadium in particular. Go Blue!
All Sports:
Football: Michigan, Illinois, OSU
BB: @OSU vs Michigan Fab 5
Hockey: Michigan, BGSU, OSU
Wrestling: Michigan, OSU
NFL: Detroit, Cleveland
NHL: Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, NY Rangers, St. Louis
