UNC, Duke, UVA, and Michigan.
Tar Heels beat the Blue Devils in Episode IV.
I would be nervous about a Sweet Sixteen matchup with Buffalo though.

Duke v FSU
UNC v Tennessee
Duke v Tennessee
Duke wins it all

Who has UNC beaten besides the shorthanded Duke teams? Lost to Virginia, lost to Michigan, lost to Kentucky, lost to Louisville, lost to Texas. Totally undeserving of a one seed when you're not even the second best team in your conference. Wouldn't be shocked to see them get run out of the building again like last year given how their offense has to put up at least 80 every night to outpace their awful defense
March 18th, 2019 at 11:57 AM ^
I dislike North Carolina but this is a bad post.
Why not look at who North Carolina has beaten?
- Gonzaga (the only team to beat Duke at full strength)
- Louisville x2
- Florida State
- Virginia Tech
- Syracuse
And North Carolina was a tip-in away from beating a Zion-led Duke team in the ACCT.

If UNC had gotten obliterated on Friday night and still got a 1-seed I would've agreed with you. But that close loss to Duke was almost like a win in and of itself. Aside from Gonzaga, they were the only team to go toe-to-toe with a fully healthy Duke squad and have a chance to win. They were one good bounce off the rim away from beating them again, so I give them the benefit of the doubt.
Besides, if you get rid of UNC, who do you put in their place? Tennessee, who was last seen getting obliterated by Auburn? MSU, who got swept by a bad Indiana team and got beat by an even worse Illinois team? Kentucky, who got beat by Tennessee twice, lost by 30 to Duke, lost to an Alabama team that didn't make the tourney, etc.?
UNC isn't a perfect team, but they were the best option to slide in there. They earned it.

I will predict those once the tournament is over.

Michigan makes final 4
Duke vs. Michigan --> Michigan somehow
Tennessee vs. Houston --> Tennessee
Michigan over Tennessee for the championship. If not M, then I would guess Duke.
Our fans are so delusional
Your mom is delusional. Our fans are... well fans.
Did you see us making the final four last season? As commented by others our defense will keep us in every game and it comes down to better shot selection down the stretch.
Duke vs Mich
UV vs Houston
Duke vs Houston
Houston wins it all
Something tells me that Duke doesn't make it through their region. I have them playing Virginia Tech and Louisville, and I bet one of them knocks Duke off. I think Virginia is the only 1 seed to make the final 4 after most of the other top seeds in their region are upset. Michigan and Florida State have a rematch in the Elite 8, and Michigan squeaks by in another low-scoring affair.
My biggest upset pick is Iowa State coming out of the Midwest. They get to play in reasonably close locations where they should draw exceptionally well (they always fill the Sprint Center in KC), they should get past Ohio State with minimal difficulty and have the talent to beat a Houston team that has one win all year over a team seeded higher than 7th. Once in KC, UNC will have to face either a near-road game vs. Kansas or the Auburn team that eviscerated Tennessee today. I think UNC loses that game, and Iowa State beats the winner.
So I have Michigan vs. Virginia Tech in one semi, and Iowa State vs. Virginia in the other. Since I am a delusional homer, I'll take Michigan over Iowa State in the final.
Duke
FSU
Tennessee
Kentucky
Duke wins it all
Duke over LSU
Michigan over Syracuse
Virginia over Villanova
Auburn over Iowa State
Michigan over Duke
Virginia over Auburn
Michigan over Virginia
Why not? Who cares, we have no clue what's gonna happen anyways.
I like the way you think. ANYONE but Duke or UNC is OK with me, though.
I hope this was an oversight on your part, but you'd rather have MSU go win it all?
Duke or UNC losing would stink but I'd get over it pretty quick. I don't hate them as much as some others on this board do. MSU winning it all would be a nightmarish end to this season, because it would mean they almost certainly beat Duke to get there. And the whole beating us three times in a row in the span of a month.
Having to watch Doyle McPoyle's punchable face run onto a podium and hoist a national title trophy would be sickening.
Yes, I'm a homer, but there is logic for my pick
West: Michigan - never know how good Gonzaga really is. Michigan got a sweet deal with its region.
East: Duke - Hate saying it, but this is almost their tournament to lose. MSU is going to get run the fuck over.
South: UNC - I could see Kentucky getting to the Final Four, but after watching them get beat by Tennessee and then seeing UNC go toe-to-toe with a fully healthy Duke squad and legitimately almost winning, they're my pick. Now they're the ones with something to prove.
Midwest: Tennessee - until I see UVa make a Final Four, I can't pick them to actually get there. If the Caps didn't win the Cup last year, I'd say UVa is the Washington Capitals of college basketball. Dominates the regular season, shits the bed in the postseason.
---
Even with being a homer, no way I can see Michigan beating Duke unless Zion somehow gets injured again or plays the worst game of his college career. UNC beats Tennessee and sets up an epic rematch in a game that no one outside of the state of North Carolina will want to watch, but they will put on one hell of a show. I'd be tempted to pick UNC, but I have to go with Duke. They have the best player in America on their team, and he'd be starting on any NBA team right now. But it's going to be close, and will come down to the last 2-3 minutes.
Final
Duke - 81
UNC - 75
I love your/folks logic in these regards. "Until I see UVa make a Final Four"...then you pick Tennessee!!!
I love your take here. Michigan and Virginia at their best would be my ideal champion and runner-up. But here, I think Virginia wins.

Last year I had the #200 ranked bracket on ESPN (out of 2m+) in large part because I picked Michigan to lose in the final to the consensus best team, Villanova. (Note: I am not bragging - at the time I thought “this will never happen, but f*** it.” The rest of the bracket I filled out in 5 minutes, so just dumb luck.)
So even though we feel like a S16 team, I’m picking us to go to the Final Four and lose to the consensus best team, Duke.
As of now, I have Duke over Michigan and Virginia over UNC in the Final Four, with Duke winning 76-71.
And I'm with you in that I feel like Michigan's ceiling is probably a Sweet 16 appearance, but I don't see any team before the Elite 8 that I feel Michigan is below 50% to win.
March 18th, 2019 at 11:21 AM ^
I get being a fan and all that but Michigan has no one on this team who can stop Zion. Watching him play this weekend was nuts. The guy is just too powerful.
March 18th, 2019 at 11:22 AM ^
PVA&M, NDS, Gardner Webb, and Vermont That would be a great final four or is that not even possible.
March 18th, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
Go Bradley! Gotta have one Cinderella, why not the Braves? Probably not them, but if you look around at the regionals - it'd likely come from ours or UNC/KY. I think UVa will be on a #revengetour after getting bitten in the a** by a bi, er, little a** dog last season and Duke is filthy with Zion.
I'l love to see Wofford out of the Midwest, and if not us, Buffalo or Murray from our regional.
Duke/ Michigan
UVa/ Wofford
Duke over UVa in the final.
March 18th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
Duke; Marquette; UVA; KY; Duke beats UVA in title
MSU gets to Elite 8 then gets beaten soundly by Duke.
Michigan doesn't make it any further than Sweet 16. If they get that far.
March 18th, 2019 at 11:50 AM ^
Duke isn't going to make the final 4. Their guards/wings will go 13-35 in a game Zion takes 6 shots and home they'll go.
March 18th, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
SI's prediction from January. They were pretty close in our bracket, they have it South, not West, but quite a few of the right teams. Also interesting that they have sparty as a #2 in the east with Duke as the #1.
LOL @ Ohio State as a 3-seed!
wait, you mean they aren't as good as KY? lol
