Where are our Championship and Heisman trophies located?
Schembechler Hall, I believe.
Wow in Stereo
I think they are at Margaret Dow Towsley Sports Museum at Schembechler Hall.
Schembechler Hall.
now its 3.0 surround sound
So I was slow. I know I've seen one someplace not too long ago....
I was looking for a picture too remember seeing one very recently but can't seem to find it.
Is it open for anyone, or do you have to be an athlete?
11 a.m. - 4 p.m., 6-8 p.m. Friday home hockey games.
Really? I showed up there one day in January and was told no non-athletic staff allowed. I'd never tried to go in before. It was definitely a weekday before four.
Yeah, they've got weird hours for public viewing. You basically have to call in advance and ask if it's open.
no need to feel stupid, I think its open for everyone
i thought they were located in the hearts and eyes of all the children of Ann Arbor.
The Heisman trophies are in Schembechler Hall? I would've thought those would belong to the player who won it, not the school.
I think every year they actually give two trophies one to the school and one to the player.
I believe two trophies are made: one for the player and one for the school.
This was started when the 'ol Ball Coach from UF decided to let UF keep his trophy.
I definitely think it was a missed opportunity with the stadium renovation to not include a Michigan Football museum on the grounds...maybe as part of the build-out into the Crisler lot when they took down a lot of that hill.
It would have been a great opportunity for fans going to the games to take a walk through and further see and feel the great history of Michigan Football.
Right now, all of that stuff is kind of locked away and hidden from view, but it would be pretty sweet to be able to walk by the Brown Jug or get your picture next to the national championship trophy, etc...
EDIT: On an unrelated note, if you're ever at the University of Chicago, their student recreation building has the first Heisman Trophy on display (awarded to Jay Berwanger) as well as old footballs and write-ups from games played against Michigan and a feature on U of C Alum Fritz Crisler. It's kind of cool to see some of the history from one of the charter members of the Big Ten (and its precursor the Western Conference) and realize how important of piece that the University of Chicago played in the Michigan tradition as its 1898 victory inspired the writing of "The Victors" and they were Michigan's chief rival of the time.

Wow, I didn't know about the Heisman Trophy on display at UChicago. It's cool that they still respect their football tradition.
I keep all the trophies and stuff at my house. I love to lay them all on my big king size bed and roll around on them in the nude.......good times
Too much information.
That sounds painful.
On my last trip in we came in on a Friday and spent the afternoon on the athletic campus, and easily the best part was seeing the Heisman's... lots of other cool stuff too. Definitely worth checking out.
NC trophy was cut off and sent to Nebraska. I'm not sure which half they let us keep.
of the 4 trophies given out, M got 3 (AP, Grantland Rice Award, MacArthur Trophy) and Nebraska got the AFCA (coaches).
Did we get a trophy from the National Championship Foundation in 1973? Do we display it? I've always wondered why we never bothered to claim that title. They're all mythical, why not give Bo one?
