What happened to the two HUGE home-and-home series??
It was announced last week that Michigan would be announcing two "HUGE" home-and-home series by the end of last week and that never happened. I am assuming that Notre Dame was one of the teams and the academic scandal that hit them delayed the announcement.. Just a hunch. Does anybody have an idea what is going on here?

Considering they are announcing series in the mid-2020's if Notre Dame were to come back at the back half of that decade that really wouldn't be that soon. Neither of these home-and-homes will probably happen in the next 10 years.

aren't they being announced tomorrow? i can't find that anywhere, but i thought i read that.

Umm...Saturday, September 6, 2014?

...or 'playing'?

Whenever the announcement comes my guess is the players that will actually particpate in the games are right now working on potty training.
August 18th, 2014 at 11:26 AM ^
They better be working on thier pad level also.
August 18th, 2014 at 11:35 AM ^
Maybe that's not such a bad thing for our future O-Linemen. They can work on their communication skills and stances while squatting over the practice potty.
EDIT: Damn. Beat me to the punch!
August 18th, 2014 at 11:08 PM ^
My son just finished his potty training. Can't wait to see him in the winged helmet in 2029!

the announcement was hit by a comet and shattered into a billion pieces and is now at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.
August 18th, 2014 at 11:22 AM ^
It is possible that the game wasn't announced Friday because it would have been buried by the Notre Dame story.
I would expect it to be announced soon.
Or maybe someone realized they booked Miami (NTM) instead of Miami (YTM).

Wouldn't surprise me given our athletic department. Either that, or they are trying to get the home-and-homes sponsored so it can be the Kraft Macaroni Michigan-LSU Cheesy Challenge brought to you by Valvoline.
August 18th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
That would be so awesome.
August 18th, 2014 at 3:40 PM ^
I would eat a case of Kraft dinners in order to play LSU before Les retires.
August 18th, 2014 at 3:55 PM ^
I really do.
Yet, if we had corporate sponsorship all over the stadium and PSLs were eliminated and ticket prices cut by 50%, would you be okay with it?
August 18th, 2014 at 4:12 PM ^
Doesn't seem likely that some of the proceeds from the selling corporate sponsorships would actually be used to offset prices the fans pay.

This is the most tangible "Michigan Difference" and worth defending at great (all?) cost. Plus, the lost revenue is significant, but probably not even close to the change you suggest.

... but it turned out the press release they wrote was plagerized from the Michigan Oklahoma press release. They are conducting an investigation into the matter now.
August 18th, 2014 at 11:39 AM ^
Meanwhile, somewhere in South Bend:
"Every single one of the teams on our press release were wrong!"
"EVERY ONE? Those assholes must have stolen the wrong fucking press release!"
(There's a scene in this film for almost every life situation)
August 18th, 2014 at 2:29 PM ^
"They took everything, even the stuff we didn't steal!"
I don't know how it would fit or under what context it would make sense, but were I ever to write an autobiography, one of the two titles I would consider using would be ". . . Even the Stuff We Didn't Steal!"
The other option would be "10,000 Hours Inside a German Strip Club." (That's a Beatles reference for you youngins.)

adjective other than "huge" to describe the new home and home series. Something more appropriate to the Michigan legacy.
One Regent was quoted as saying, "'Huge?' That is how my 9 year old describes his lacrosse game vs Country Day."

DB is a tricky tricky guy..I now question what the term "end of the week" even means..does the week ever truly end ?

August 18th, 2014 at 12:14 PM ^
Good point. We all assumed that by the end of the week meant last week. It could be any week. Damnit.
I actually had not even considered ND as a potential opponent and I think in our "guess the series" thread maybe 1 person had guessed ND. If somehow it is ND as one of the 2 series they might punt this for another week or two.

When you make a donation to the athletic dept, DB will send you an e-mail with the opponents.

I doubt it'll be Bama. They backed out on their series with MSU. In fact I'd be suprised if it was any SEC team. I'd love for it, but just don't see a top tier SEC team doing it. Maybe we'll get KY?

TWS . . . No. Too easy.
August 18th, 2014 at 11:51 AM ^
Michigan vs Notre Dame always has a big draw and while I don't see ND appearing on the schedule anytime soon I'm willing to bet anytime there is a chance to line these two teams up in a bowl game I would bank on it.

You didn't hear? Brandon scheduled a home-and-home against both USC and Texas. But both of UM's home games will be played at Soldier Field.

Maybe the AD just prefers the new trend of Road & Road and they don't want to get people too excited by annoucing early.
