Didn't see this posted, but it appeared on mgoblue.com two days ago.  Always nice to hear what's coming up for our Softball program, and it appears Coach Hutch has pulled in some top prospects yet again.

The University of Michigan softball team received National Letters of Intent from five student-athletes during the early signing period, head coach Carol Hutchins announced Wednesday (Nov. 11). The quintet -- pitcher Emerson Aiken, pitcher Lauren Derkowski, infielder/outfielder Ella McVey, outfielder Ellie Sieler and infielder/pitcher Annabelle Widra -- will join the Wolverines next fall and make their collegiate debut during the 2022 softball season. The group was tabbed the nation's No. 11 recruiting class by Extra Inning Softball.

Good detail on the players in the link: https://mgoblue.com/news/2020/11/11/softball-wolverines-sign-five-to-national-letters-of-intent.aspx

Thanks for the intel! I half expected to see WolverineDevotee when I clicked the link!

Since the school year at UM ends so early and  summer internships often didn’t start until after Memorial Day, I’d spend a lot of May afternoons and evenings watching softball (and baseball) games! They were a total blast, and Hutch always had great teams that dominated the B1G. I’m glad she’s continuing to successfully coach the program! She’s one of my favorite Spartans

This would have been posted two days ago by WD, but he took a trip to South America and hasn't returned.  So the MGoBoard now anoints YOU, rposly, as the ordained poster of off-marquee Michigan sports and apparel.

You're welcome...

Those kids are the 8th, 16th, 26th, 44th, and 101st ranked players in the country according to the article.  That's pretty darn good.  Any idea why the class itself is only ranked 11th?  Small class size compared to others?

I don't recall the exact roster size, but it's probably 18 that could dress and 22 if you include walk ons? IDk for sure but 5 recruits every year for 4 years basically means that it's an average sized class. Most are 4-6 with an occasional 3 person class and sometimes 7 but that's pretty rare unless you're bringing in some depth players that likely aren't playing for a couple years.
