Harbaugh should get 1 more year to win the Big Ten, otherwise, what are we doing here?

1 top ten finish, 1-4 bowl record, zero big ten titles, zero wins against OSU.

He's not even an elite recruiter like John Cooper was, and he's most certainly not an elite x's and o's coach.

Minnesota is better than us guys. Minnesota. Minnesota who has hardly anything to sell and hasn't won the big ten in nearly 60 years. We're on our way to becoming the new Minnesota.

I'm not willing to support a program that thinks we should be grateful for a 10 win ceiling, but yet increases ticket prices every other year like we're elite.

Urban Meyer lol.  Dude won’t even say the word Michigan, but sure.  While we’re at it, let’s get Saban to come over as our DC, Belichick as AD, and Lincoln Riley as our OC.  Barry Sanders could be our RB coach.  Maybe Burrow could skip the NFL and become our QB coach?

It was more than just words; it was in his contract at Utah that he could be released without penalty to take the Michigan, Ohio State or Notre Dame job. It would be smart to kick his tires if Harbaugh leaves.

This holier than thou bullshit is just that.

The last paragraph.

Great post.  For years you guys complained about Urban.  He cheats.  He runs a dirty program. Only a school like OSU would hire a creep like him.  Now you want him to come in and save your program?  A guy that won't even utter your name in public?  That is sooooo delusional.  But funny.

What?  No Belichek? Saban? Sweeney?   Ain't no way we are going to even talk to Meyer.  Harbaugh's job is safe and even if it wasn't there is nobody out there that we could get that would be better.

The main fault in the Fire Harbaugh camp is stuff like this. When Urban Meyer is your top choice, you don't have any good options. I want Michigan to be better too, but who is going to do better than Harbaugh and an improving offense right now?

10-15 coaches can win 7,8,9,10 games at Michigan.  Just because our moribund A.D. screwed up the RR & Hoke hire doesn't mean that we can't get a Harbaugh level replacement.  Fact is our insular A.D. is happy with the $$$.  M  can hide behind the integrity mantra.

Urban Meyer?  —job 1 for a Michigan coach is to run a clean program. Other than that, play in a New Year’s Day bowl.  That is what alums, faculty and administration want. Harbaugh is giving a bonus by emphasizing academics.

It would be nice to beat Ohio State, but we all know it is not a level playing field as long as they cheat and we don’t—and we are not going to cheat.

Academics have nothing to do with playing at Michigan or playing football anywhere in college for that matter unless you are at a military academy or the Ivy League. They actually have standards and the players are defined as student athletes. Athletes have the same standards as non athletes for admission into the schools. Ohio State cheating? Why doesn't someone report their violations? I haven't seen any NCAA violations.

Seems when Michigan can't compete at the national level it's always 3 things the fans use to rationalize losing.

1. Academics

2. We run a clean program

3. The referees were biased.

Anyone ever consider recruiting 5 star athletes might help win some games.

Because hope in the possibility of improvement is often more appealing then accepting mediocrity.

It’s the same difference between the colonists who joined the American Revolution to try and fight for something better than the British crown and the colonists who were too afraid to rock the boat and risk their lives for the hope of something better.

Some people are hopers and look to the possibilities of what could be and others simply look only at what they currently see and are incapable of believing that there could be anything better.

I’m honestly not trying to be a dick, but this is honestly the most defeatist attitude I’ve ever heard. This is the type of “middle management” shit I hear from my VPs who probably make too much money and are afraid to make a fucking decision. Settling for mediocrity is the most non-Michigan option. That is not what our university is about...if you’re end game is being afraid of the future because it could result in a “lanced gut,” then get the fuck outta here. The present is not where we want to be, and I refuse to believe it’s our ceiling.

"I'm honestly not try to be a dick"... but let me be a dick anyway.

Who are you to tell me to get the fuck outta here? I am a person entitled to my own opinions, as are you. It takes a lot of arrogance to definitively declare your opinion to be more valid than someone else's. This isn't a goddamn battle for survival, it's a game that's played for entertainment. If I prefer my entertainment to be reliably enjoyable ~80% of the time instead of gambling it, that's a totally reasonable stance. You don't have to agree, but you get the fuck outta here with your "this is the most important thing in life" attitude.

Isn’t “Hope” kinda the point? If you didn’t hope things would get better with coaching changes, Mike Shula would still coach Bama, John Cooper at OSU,  Tommy Bowden at Clemson, etc. it’s a very Michigan thing to accept your consequences like a bitter pill rather than change your strategy...

Nothing I've seen over 5 years indicates it will get better with Harbaugh:

1. Recruiting is trending down

2. In game X's and O's, to say nothing of clock management, is not good

3. Team always comes out flat and seemingly underprepared

4. No urgency and no recognition of how to push the pedal to the metal when things are going your way - a hurry up offense would be nice to see

5. Heavily mistake prone year after year

6. No improvement from the players, especially QB, form year to year

It's time to move on to someone younger, hungrier and willing to learn from mistakes.

Can I delete this for you?

1. Recruiting is the same as it has been. Top 10ish with an occasional great class.

2. Break it down for me. Do a UFR and let's see your work on what, specifically, is not working in the gameplan?

3. The team was up 16-14 at half. How is that coming out flat and unprepared?

4. They ran tempo all year. This isn't Chip Kelly's Oregon and it shouldn't be.

5. Fair enough. They do seem to make dumb mistakes at seemingly inopportune times.

6. No improvement? I mean, that would imply that every player who comes in is as good as when he left which absolutely isn't the case.
