I would say I hope he's drinking Leaf tears out of the Cup soon, but it's not like Toronto will be expecting to win one, plus the list is a whole lot longer than them.

It's all about the players in basketball and hockey. Joel Quenneville was a choker that couldn't get it done in St. Louis and now he's about to win his 3rd Cup with a loaded team in Chicago. The Cavs are in the Finals with a rookie coach and it's all because of LeBron.

Obviously Holland has a say in this, but I will be curious to see if this opens up the doors for younger players to get a shot with the Wings without being "overripe". Babcock was fond of saying "tie goes to the veteran", but it has always seemed to me that he loathed the idea of playing kids. Can't tell me the there was a tie between Cleary and Nyquist two seasons ago.

He's definitely not a big "splash" of any sort, but I think it's hard to be successful in the AHL without a really good coach, and the continuity in the organization is a big bonus.

I'm assuming he's pissed because Holland can't sign top end talent despite the fact that he's offered equal or better contracts to every single player we've missed out on. Or maybe it's reloading this team to be elite in the cap era without having to deal Dats, Z or Kronner. No other franchise has the combination of continued success and level of prospects we have in the system. Ignore him he's another clueless 'hockey' fan who expects the same success after the adoption of the cap as we did when we could just outbid for every superstar out there. Almost every franchise who has had success is lacking for prospects; we have a stocked system that we're going to have to find places for. People in this town don't know shit about hockey and just love to bitch.
