OT:Tigers Pre Game Locations

Submitted by twohooks on

Taking my cousins to the Tiger/White Sox game Tuesday night and looking to take them to a place for good beer and good food and more importantly a place I have not been to. My locale is usually Town Pump. HockeyTown and Cheli's...been there done that.  Where is your favorite place to stop before a Tiger ball game? Just wondering what else is down there and what I'm missing. Go Tigers, Go Blue!

The Elwood, between Comerica and Ford Field, is quite loud but very good. My usual staple is going to Leo's right there at the park. We go in from the outside of the park, next to the ticket window, and it's simple to get into the park from there.

Hockeytown, to me, is very overrated from a food standpoint.

about a 12 minute walk to the stadium. They have a nice deck and good food & drinks. You can park your car in their lot and take a shuttle to Comerica.

If you're gonna take a shuttle, consider Nemo's, about a block from the dearly departed Tiger Stadium as well. Best bar burgers I've ever had.

Detroit Beer Co. is a couple blocks away and has some solid beers and food.  You can get there a couple hours before the game and usually get seated.

Yes, Hockeytown is overrated.

Near Greektown.  Just was introduced to the place today.  It has pretty good burgers and awesome fries, for a great price.  In fact, it was rated the best Burger you can buy for $5.00 by GQ Magazine.

They have a very limited selection of beer though; it certainly is NOT a bar.  Depends on what you are looking for.  Depends on if you want somewhere to go pre-game or if you want to "pregame" if you know what I mean...

When I had my tickets the only reason we stopped going to the Elwood was because the place was jam-packed by an hour before game time, and I can't physically get to Detroit from my office in Tecumseh any faster without the use of a teleporter.

The Detroit Beer Company is a good spot.  I kind of like heading to the Cliff Bell kind of off the path a bit behind the fox.  You also can not go wrong with Nemos great spot great and loaded with tigers history.

A pitcher and 3 shots for 12 bucks on gameday, if that is your intention. It's about a five minute walk from the stadium. Google it.

I like Coach's Corner in Harmonie Park as well. 2 min. walk from the stadium.
