OT? - Yahoo 1201 S. Main St. Pick'em Review/Trash Talk Thread

Submitted by Steves_Wolverines on

We're 12 weeks into the Pick'em season, with 2 weeks to go. This thread can be used to gloat about your performance so far, reflect upon when your entry dropped from contention, and a general pick'em discussion thread.

Congrats to the 57ish users who have made picks every week.

Congrats to Kenny Powers Possee, our current leader; recording high points in week 6.

Rounding the other top contenders are:

2. MGoCombs
3. Gosselin Geese
4. GoblueATL
5. Mfan_in_ohio
6. ZTMaizeNBlue (my entry)
7. BlueGrizzly
8. Thatswatsheesed
9. Biakabutuka
10. Muppet Glee Club

Good luck to everyone who will be making picks in these final 2 weeks! I think 1st place may be out of reach for me (165 points back), so I'm hoping for a Top 5 finish.

Go Blue, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Being #1 for a full week was a joyous time. Being #2 is great and all, but once you have a taste of #1, it's tough to go back. Coming back for the top spot this week.

The leader is 208-152 for 3480 points.

7th place is the only other picker with over 200 correct picks, at 204-156 and 3309 points.

15 entries have 190+ correct picks, but obviously not much confidence in those correct picks as the leader. (for example, #45 is 190-170 for only 3043 points).

The lowest number of correct picks in the Top-10 is #8 with a 183-177 record, but has 3304 points. Dude hits big on his correct picks.

Went from 28th to 5th on the strength of last week's performance.  Doubt that is repeatable, but it was nice to finally have a really good week. Thanks, OP, for the timely opportunity to brag.

Fuck Yahoo. It reset my picks after I hit "save" at least half the weeks. Re-entered them, a couple of times more than once, until this week. Gave up. Stupid interface. Godspeed everyone who's still in it. OTOH, this was a good lesson for me in "Why sports betting is a terrible idea." Up until this week I was in 16th place (after leading the first two weeks), with just over a 51% success rate with my picks. I've heard you need to be over 53% to come out ahead in the long run. So with a couple of exceptions, I think we should pretty much all stick to our day jobs.

Happened to me once. I realized that it won't save anything unless everything is 100% filled in.

It's easy to miss a box or game, and if you make the mistake of hitting save; bye bye all your picks.

It's made me triple-check myself before clicking save. Definitely an issue that should be an easy fix. I prefer ESPN over Yahoo for fantasy sports, but I wanted to see how I'd stack up against the MGoBlog community. Pretty good so far!
