OT: Stanley Cup Game 1

Submitted by ChiliDog on
This game has been quite physical yet the score still remains nil. So it's not the Wings, but it's still hockey! It looks like this series is going to be very entertaining and hopefully it will last 7 games. Have a good night eh!

Tambellini has two minutes of ice time so far, which is actually badass (he has not played much in the playoffs, but he played a bit more last series because of injuries).

Edit: Kampfer a healthy scratch.  Haven't seen him on the ice at all, but only been following the Bruins in the playoffs since the Bolts series.

Style favors Bruins.  Kaberle and Charo are controlling play thus far.  I'm pulling for Vancouver for sticking it to the Sharks.

How are the San Jose Sharks like shanties?  You won't see them on the ice in June.

Vs. A team from Boston. Hard to find someone to root for here. (Tampa Bay, whereforeartthou?)

shaping up to be a great series. Vancouver with the great offensive players, and Boston with Chara and co. Very excited for this series, even if the Wings couldn't be here...

I missed a good chunk of the 2nd period because of the severe weather in Mass.  There were tornados out in Springfield and thunderstorms all over.  The bar I was at lost its DirecTV reception and they had to turn on the radio.

I thought Thomas played really well and gave them a chance.  They just couldn't find a way to get the puck in the net.  Looking forward to game 2.

I've said it before in another thread....  Hockey is my favorite sport to watch when I don't have a dog in the fight. Nothing like watching the Stanley Cup raised by the winning captain.

Not really pulling for one team or the other, but man what a beauty by the Canucks to win this one.

The game was played in Vancouver. I think the guy they had sing The Star Spangled Banner finished up in about 90 seconds. I have not seen it sung faster.

Then they had a bearded, long-haired bear of a man sing O Canada and it was everything a national anthem should be. He let the crowd sing the middle part (or CBC just cut his mic, either way it was great).

Then Boston continued to show it has the worst power play to ever make the finals. Dear god.

Don Cherry.

Great end to the game. Heartbreaking for Boston but I think Vancouver deserved to win. If you can't score 5 on 3 for two minutes...
