I’m sure his thoughts would be different had he stayed in Ann Arbor. That bench looks happy as hell.

I thought this was the most interesting thing in the article:

DeJulius is the fifth Cincinnati player to opt out, joining sophomore guard Zach Harvey, freshman guard Gabe Madsen, junior forward Mamoudou Diarra and graduate transfer Rapolas Ivanauskas. Diarra has since opted back in, while Ivanauskas joined BC Rytas, a professional club in Lithuania.

I mean, beyond the douchiness of this comment he was second in the AAC in assists and was playing a lot for a Cincy team that was playing well recently.  Not every player's decision needs to be viewed through the lens of why he secretly hates/regrets not playing for Michigan.

He had COVID-19; sounds like it really did a number on him.  He recognized that he needed mental health assistance and was strong enough to admit it and seek it out.  He deserves credit for that, not snarky comments about how he'd feel better if he was on the bench when UM beat Iowa.

Not saying this is the case with him, but sometimes kids with mental health issues are looking for an excuse to seek help. What i mean is that they’ve always felt like they needed professional mental health treatment but because of the stigma they don’t feel like they can ask for it until something gives them an “out”. It sucks people have to have large, public, shitty things happen to them to seek help (in this case having covid). And I hope that whatever the reason, everyone will support DDJ, and anyone else, who has mental health problems. We should all work to reduce the stigma.

As someone someone who had a close family member have a suicide attempt last month, I am thankful to hear this.

Mental illness is real, nothing to be ashamed of, get help, you are loved, and important.

UC is my #2 team.  I was very surprised that he didn’t look as well as I expected on the court this year.  This obviously explains that.  Hope he gets help and gives it 1 more season.

He had COVID earlier in the year and admitted he never felt quite right afterwards.  Heard similar aftermath from a couple of people who also recovered from COVID; it absolutely can make you feel a step slow and depressed.  Hopefully he gets the help he needs and can come back and play next year.
