OT: Cam Newton Hospitalized After Car Crash
Cam Newton was hospitalized after a serious two car crash. Photos have him being stretchered off the scene. His car overturned. The link has a vine of the tow truck righting it. Looks like the roof is partially caved in. Hopefully he's alright.

in Charlotte and is expected to remain overnight for treatment after rolling his pickup truck in an accident at a busy downtown interpass intersection shortly before 1 p.m. today.
There is no immediate report on the extent of the injuries he may have suffered and this information was made available via the Charlotte Observer.com web site. The team web site is still not offering any details on Cam's condition or injuries.

Cam has had a problem this year with turnovers...
Seriously, hope for the best for him - the Panthers are playing better this year.

....and you didn't plagiarize the turnover joke from the comments in the link.

not like he's writing a term paper here, Professor.

It's a funny but sorta obvious retort. I'm sure more than two people will immediately respond to the news by thinking the same thing.

I could have gone with the "If he wasn't driving on I 277 he would have been on ME 277" or something about Newtons First Law of Motion: objects in motion tend to hit Cam Newton before he can get out of the way.
I did footnote my comment, but the formatting must have been lost.

is the comment section. It really is.
Gawker has a great comment section too.

THIS should help him out. I struggled with them at first as well, but now they're a family favorite.

Update on Deadspin via Twitter - Newton was not injured. Stretcher was a precautionary measure.

freep reader has chimed in on who the coach should be
gotta love the rationale
"The U-M football program has fallen on hard times. Perhaps this is a good time to join Northwestern, Michigan State, Notre Dame and dozens of other universities that broke tradition and hired a black head football coach."

Why aren't there seatbelts in school buses?

the Charlotte Observer dot com web site. Apparently Newton rolled his truck four times near a busy downtown highway intersection shortly before 1 p.m. and was reportedly taken in a strecter to a nearby trauma center at unidetified local faciliites not far from the crash site. He could have been transported to at least two different medical facilities. The official team web site has no information on his condition. And neither does the newspaper site other than photos taken at the scene.

I am amazed at how many people still don't use seat belts. I constantly have to remind passengers in my car to put on their seat belt.
December 9th, 2014 at 3:44 PM ^
Update: It's confirmed that Newton has sustained two transverse process fractures in his lower back.
