Besides being quite cool in its own right - hey, who wouldn't want pizza delivered via artificial intelligence - I think there has to be a joke in here somewhere. Maybe something about MSU and OSU grads everywhere facing unprecedented competition in the labor market in the years ahead due to automation? Yeah, something like that...

Aviation is a good example.  Six Sigma type commitments to quality have made decade on decade record yeilds in semiconductor manufacture.  These are both human driven.

My daughter went through driver's ed last year.  There  are real lessons being passed.

Self driving machines and AI are great but I don't think they end well for the human race.  I hope I'm wrong.  I know I will be in the short term... in the long term...we're ef'd.

Aviation is regulated enough to make this effective, but driving is not.  It's good that 2016 driver's ed classes incorporated stuff we've learned from research and experience, but i'm sure there are still people on the road who learned to drive in the 50's and have never taken a refresher course.  (Unrelated to learning, but they have also probably lost a step in vision, reflexes, etc.)

And it's very unlikely driving privileges ever get regulated to the point where drivers are recertified regularly like I assume pilots are.  On the other hand, there should certainly be regulations on manufacturers of autonomous vehicles to prevent them from creating cars that will drive in unsafe ways.  In short, I believe self-driving vehicles are our only hope for significantly improving driving safety.

I don't get it, will the delivery person ride shotgun and just run the pizza up to the door?

I know they aren't going to make you come down to the car because if you have to put pants on then forget about it.

Are people really greeting delivery people in their boxers?

I absolutely acknowledge that walking out of your house to the street is a downgrade from the existing state of pizza delivery, and I can see how it would be a dealbreaker for some people, but, do you literally mean you don't put on pants to get your pizza?

Remember when airlines started charging for baggage?

We will do what corporate America wants us to do..maybe with a bit of bitching and moaning, but we will eventually go along with it.

Big savings for companies once their capital costs are covered and we save the tip...and it may not take long for a robot to walk from the car to your door.

in the same Mlive piece there is reference to another piece for a North Campus driverless shuttle coming this fall.

Wont even lie, I don't mind Domino's now. Couldn't stand them for years but I like their new recipes theyre using. I also like I can get a pizza I enjoy with multiple toppings for 8 bucks and (at least near me) theyre open till 1am or later. Late night pizza is crucial when you're on afternoons.

Well, if all the people around you - with increasing frequency and bluster - refuse to simply quit drinking and go to bed, you first need more pizza but you also need more bathrooms because of the pizza and drinking.

Anyway, I think that's how it works. Alternatively, he could have simply had a thing for toilets. That seems feasible too.
