Old Phil Martelli interviews

Found a couple of older (2014) interviews with new MBB assistant coach Phil Martelli.

After watching for a while, I realized he reminded me of someone: John Beilein. No idea how he is as a tactician (esp. compared to an all-time great like Coach B), but from the perspective of being a genuinely good guy, treating the interviewer with uncommon grace, repeatedly talking about graduating players, and mentioning pushing his players instead of coddling them. Seems like he may be a good fit with the UM fan base.

Keep in mind St Joe’s NEVER had the resources to offer their program that Michigan does.

Martelli achieved a lot with little.

Your post is very interesting.

I clicked on the firing press conference on the side of the youtube link.  The comments were very telling.  One poster claiming inside info was essentially saying the AD didn't want to pay him what he was earning.

I like what I saw with his accomplishments! I'm also liking the connections in extremely important recruiting circles.  With these hires we have connections now in Detroit, Chicago, and now Philadelphia.

Always liked him, always thought he looked like Peter Boyle(dad from everyone loves Raymond). He made a school I never knew existed relevent in basketball.

IIRC, he called Billy Packer a jackass on national TV. Might have even been on the selection show. Anybody who does that is free and clear in my book.
