OG Michael Starts picks Texas Tech

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

While I think most people here are satisfied as to where our Oline recruiting is headed, wanted to note that Michael Starts committed to Texas Tech today.  He was a fairly highly rated OT/OG prospect out of Texas which who we had offered and recruited to some extent.  But I guess with our blue-collar "work hard" attitude, the coaches didn't want to take in a guy who had the audacity to have his last name correlate to the depth chart.

But seriously, not a huge loss, but worth taking note.

choose Texas Tech is beyond me. It is in a dry county in the middle of BFTexas and they have virtually nothing so great as to offset that fact.

and I've often wondered the same thing.  Not even Leach could bring in the classes that Tuberville is getting right now, and given that Lubbock isn't a big draw I'm starting to question that he's running a clean ship.

Also fwiw... Pearlie Graves was a student of my officemate.  He caught me reading mgoblog one day when he came to office hours, and I actually had a discussion with him about his decision to switch his committment.  He says to this day he doesn't know why he switched at the last minute.  Also, he will probably be a starter this season.  le sigh.

You can always count on "Dreisbach1817" to keep everyone up to date with useless recruiting info.

To me, thats a complement.  I enjoy recruiting discussions over the 52nd new OP on the OSU investigation.  I understand how others enjoy reading every ounce of info on that.   But I enjoy recruiting news more at this point and then will wait for "actual" news to break on the Columbus front.

I've also never heard of "useless recruiting news" on this board.

Just because Michigan doesn't get him, they were going after him at one time, so this is just as important as the "Happy Trails" portion of Tim's Wed. Recruiting.  This also should help prevent people going "What about Michael Starts, why haven't we heard anything about him lately?" if things fall through with any O-line prospects
