New in-state offer: 2022 S/LB Nolan Ziegler
Michigan offered Grand Rapids (MI) Catholic Central safety/outside linebacker Nolan Ziegler yesterday. He's listed at 6'4" and 205 lbs. on 247 Sports, though he doesn't look anywhere close to 6'4" on his sophomore film. They list him as a 3-star, the #21 safety, and #9 in the state for 2022. Cincinnati, Iowa, Nebraska, and some MAC teams have offered.
GRCC is the alma mater of Jalen Mayfield, so there's a little bit of a connection there.
Sounds like a good frame to build on.
6’4 going into his JR. season? Any chance he could put in 70lbs of good weight over the next 4 years and play DE?
He’s said in interviews that he’s been told that he could be a safety, LB, or DE depending on how his body fills out. He reported a 4.49 40 recently which would be really good if those measurables are accurate. Maybe a TE if he has decent hands?
GRCC is a feeder school for Michigan. He'll be going to class with many of his highschool classmates.
Cool, their stadium is not far from my house. Pile in the Creeper Van, boys!
User name checks out.
sorry.
I didn't abduct those kids!
"I don't care!" -GRPD, probably
FYI -- He is technically a legacy in Football -great grandfather played in the '30s. Think Sam described him as an up-and-comer in a recent podcast -- much like the LB out of Traverse City in '22.
Tangent -- Magnus -- Any thoughts / info on "Duce" Chestnut? (CB out of NJ - 4-star composite, 3-star on 247)
I saw on twitter that he is reducing his list to 5 today and then announcing tomorrow... (M is among his current top-8). There are currently ZERO crystal balls on the kid. I have heard his name on the fringes of M recruiting for a while but never as a top-focus...
He's a decent athlete, but he has zero technique. I do not think Michigan will be in his top five unless he's had a change of heart.
Recruiting footage and class designation only serves to make me feel old at this point. I say this knowing I am certainly not the oldest person here, but these posts have begun to remind me that I am certainly not the youngest either.
Any relation to Harold Ziegler? According to EJ Holland on Twitter his great-grandfather, Fred Trosko played for Michigan.
I bet he drives a nice car to school.
