Idk what his reaction would be, but it SHOULD be the same as if Speight or O'Korn win it. Fact is, Harbaugh is going to pick the best QB that gives us the best chance to win games. What people in the Peters camp need to realize is that there is more to playing QB than arm talent. Peters has tons of that. From what we have heard from Harbaugh, it's the other areas of QB play where Peters is lacking. Doesn't matter how good the kid's arm is, if he can't take care of the ball, doesn't react well to pressure, and doesn't have command of the offense, Harbaugh isn't handing him the keys.

I hope he wins the strating role -- has NFL arm strength and touch. That's something Speight is incapable of given his funky throwing motion.

With such a young 2 deep, it probably will take a 'future NFL draft level performance' from whoever starts as QB to win big.

A QB that is a real weapon, and not just a (mostly) reliable part of a larger machine, would probably make M a contender in '17.  Can Speight be that guy?

In other words, can Speight be a good as Sam Darnold was for USC last year?  Maybe he can, but it would take a big improvement over his '16 performance (which overall was pretty good but not anywhere near Heisman candidate level).

The very limited data that is out there on Peters (spring game, chatter) suggests that he might have the potential to be as good as Darnold.

Or he could end up like Josh Rosen in his first year as a starter.  Flashes of brilliance sprinkled with lots of mental mistakes and bad decisions.

JH and staff will make the right choice.

USC did not look great in the first three games.  Then Darnold took over and they never lost again.  Darnold had excellent numbers.  Really good TD/INT ratio.  He was the difference.

Speight (or Peters) will have to play at a much higher level than last year.  Lots of talent on the roster, but with so much youth.

M will make the playoffs only if the QB position is able to play at a level that basically takes over games against top opponents, like Darnold did last year.
