A little under 20 minutes long.

A nice B1G road win. Brian Griese on commentary as Shea passes him in multiple passing career record ranks.

GO BLUE!!

Fans hate on Shea and it just stinks.  Why ? He completed 60% of the pass plays called and the rest of the game plan was executed without flaw.  If anyone has gripes with that, then direct your venom to Josh Gattis.  He called the plays.  Which, by the way, was just not a good game plan.  Whomever called the ND run game needs to call the remainder of the season's run attack.  This inside / outside zone spread stuff got stuffed every time.

It's not hating on Shea to point out that his decision-making isn't the best...and he did miss quite a few open receivers against Maryland.  The ball seemed to be sailing on him a bit.  These are issues that we've been seeing throughout the season.  I'm not saying that he's not trying.  I'm not saying that the tone and tenor of some of the criticisms is appropriate.  What I am saying is that his performance is consistantly in the B or B+ range...and it's proven to be not quite enough against top teams and defenses.

60% completion rate with no INTs and no fumbles is not a B grade.  In American football, that is an A level performance.  If you don’t like the offensive play results, shit on the play caller but not Shea.

Shea is not calling these plays so please stop blaming his “decision making” as problem.

I really don't want to get in to a back and forth on this, as I am the parent of a kid just a few years younger than Shea...so it feels like piling on.  That being said, his season stats of a 57% completion rate and a 4:1 TD:INT ratio indicate a "B" level of performance.

And my admittedly untrained eye is telling me that he bails out of the pocket too early, often waits too long to get rid of the ball, and misses open receivers quite frequently.  And Brian's much more trained eye and detailed UFR's seem to back up my observations.  None of these issues have much - if anything - to do with play calling.

What ?  Those stats are like all world good especially considering the massive number of WR dropped balls this season.  That 57% completion rate is like 10% less due to dropped balls. This fan base is just shit wrong. Sorry but good luck.

Edit - in this game alone there were at least 4 dropped passes. I have never seen a WR unit as poor as this year. Dropped passes, soft routes and pathetic downfield blocking.  Shameful.

It'd be a great performance if he was a slinger who was dealing the ball every play. But he bails and tucks the ball for minor gains or even losses when receivers are wide open. He's safe, but a solid B qb. We have amazing wide receivers who are being thrown to 2-4 times per game, and not because pass plays aren't being called. It's because Shea isn't seeing them.
