Marquette's Hauser brothers (Joey & Sam) to transfer
Both were big parts of a good Marquette team last year. Sam has 1 year of eligibility remaining, while Joey has 3.

Lots of moving pieces here, but you have to imagine they would at least be on Michigan's radar.
Marquette was going to be a top 10 team next year with them + Markus Howard. Woj is for sure gone very soon.
People are saying Michigan State and UVA are the early targets as destinations for them.
Finally, I have not seen anything about Sam being able to play immediately, or if he would have to sit out a year. It would be hard to imagine him leaving if he has to sit out a year (he has NBA aspirations, and that would probably hurt more than help)
My first instinct was Virginia. Tony Bennett is a guy with deep Wisconsin roots, and Ty Jerome just happened to declare early for the NBA earlier today, and DeAndre Hunter will probably follow him out the door.
I don't know where the MSU stuff is coming from. Don't think they would have any room unless Izzo started processing some guys.
Ward is likely gone. Ahrens could medical. Or you could get a surprise transfer - someone like Loyer (got good guards coming in next couple years).
Loyer transferring makes more sense a year or two from now. I don't think Izzo would want the only other PG on the roster to transfer this offseason with the team he has coming back next year.

Sounds like a sit one, play one
Doesn't even make sense for Sam Hauser. He and his family must really want out from Marquette. His brother makes more sense because he will have at least 2 years (and maybe 3 if he gets a medical) more years of eligibility after sitting out a year.
But what about the third brother, Doogie?
He's too busy typing his thoughts and emotions on an old ass computer at the end of the episode, while introspective 80s music plays.
He's like 14 but man is he good
You mean Wings Hauser's kid?
Wings Hauser's grandkid, Cole Hauser's kid.
(actually, I looked it up and Cole Hauser actually is Wings' kid - had no idea).
He is busy losing his virginity to his girl friend Wanda.
wow, these 2 have to easily be the most sought after transfers this cycle. I wonder if they're looking to transfer together.
Would be an epic get.
I've seen UVA and MSU on his lists.
UVA would be a perfect fit for them. Not sure MSU could take them unless Ward leaves.
What's our scholarship breakdown as is? If we have enough open, we should go after them. Be if we only have a couple, it may not be smart to go after two guys who won't be able to play next year.
I don't think MSU could take both even if Ward were to leave. They have 3 freshmen coming in next fall, and they are only losing McQuaid and Goins. Unless the brothers are splitting up or MSU has some other attrition in addition to Ward.
Ahrens could get a medical. He is always hurt. Somebody else could transfer which isn’t farfetched given these 2 would eat 50 minutes, assuming they are immediately eligible. Last option would be to not send Rocket Watts and LOI in 2 days.
All of this seems highly unlikely. I don't see them going to MSU.
Apparently they don’t plan to be immediately eligible and will accept sitting a year? That just makes it harder for any team to take them. I think a team who returns a lot but also loses a lot after next year would be the best choice. Michigan needs too much immediate help for this to be a possibility.
The earliest Ahrens would take a medical would be late summer/fall which would be too late at that point. No other transfer on their roster makes sense. They have 3 freshmen and 5 sophomores who are all unlikely to transfer this offseason (Foster Loyer would make the most sense if you picked one, but he is the only other PG on their roster). Winston, Langford, and Tillman aren't going anywhere unless it is the NBA.
Kyle Ahrens taking a grad transfer could make sense, but he and Izzo have already stated that he is coming back next year.
Yes please
How could they go to MSU? Apparently, No one is leaving (because everyone stays 4 years for Izzo) and they are at their scholarship limit.
If Ward leaves, Izzo could kick a kid off scholarship or the other kid could pplay a year without scholarship.
Seems unlikely. I would have to imagine Virginia is the best option for them right now. They just look like Virginia players. I'm not sure how they ended up at Marquette and not Wisconsin to begin with, but Virginia is just Wisconsin on steroids
They both played prep ball in Stevens Point, WI, so the Wisconsin connection is strong.
Greg Gard probably fainted while F5'ing the transfer portal web site today. I'm sure he'll make a run at them (although, as you state, one wonders why they both passed on Wisconsin in the first place). Having 2 open slots to accommodate both players is most likely problematic at this stage in the recruiting cycle, but further roster attrition can occur anywhere and anytime.
I said this in a previous thread, but roster management has become a nightmare in the modern college basketball landscape.
If I remember correctly, there was a kerfluffle in the recruiting process or something where Wisconsin refused to offer the elder one, and the younger one refused to even consider Wisconsin? I could be way off base here. But it does not seem like that's a realistic destination for them
We should go full court press on Eric Williams Jr. Best fit for us and would get a year to sit out and learn Beilein’s system. Hauser kids seem destined for Virginia, Gonzaga or maybe Wisconsin.
Sam Webb thinks Williams JR has a shot to play right away somehow
Someone may have called him a name.
They decide to transfer right after Markus Howard decides to return. Wonder if that has something to do with it
I thought that too, but would only make sense for Sam as Howard has just one year left.
Anyone know what skills they are trying to develop? It doesn't seem likely that they just want to go to more recognized program.
I work in an office full of Marquette alumni. Not to thrilled with the coach.
He was a little dipshizz at Duke so one could expect him to be one as a coach. It's like Aaron Craft and Grayson Allen combined to make a Wojo.
With over 600 players in the portal, college hoops is going to be worse than football in reference to eligibility issues. The NCAA will have a tough time keeping up with all of these cases individually. College athletics is getting ready to be a free agency market.

Me if Izzo processes a player to get the Hauser Brothers: "Wow, what an unethical dick. Just another example of him having no character"
Me if we take 2 commits and then Franz Wagner decides to play college ball: "Well, I'm sure Brooks or Davis would prefer more playing time somewhere else anyway"
Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will cause me hardship
