Isaiah Livers appreciation thread

Submitted by theytookourjobs on December 31st, 2020 at 11:04 PM

So some people are griping about Livers and his production lately.  I couldn't disagree more.  While he is not exactly lighting it up right now, He has settled down from earlier this season.  He is letting the game come to him, and has not taken a bad shot that I can recall in the last 3 games.  He is playing really good defense, and his decision making has been great.  He has been playing tremendously unselfish basketball, and the team is benefitting big time!

Not to threadjack, but any update on Williams since he didn't play at all? Couldn't bear to listen to the announcers so I have no info on why he didn't play even though he was dressed

Livers is the unquestioned leader of this team.

Absolutely love the way hes playing and am not mad at all that the shots aren't falling. That will come.

This team is stacked and is going to be a nightmare to prepare for come tournament time

Kid had the govt come to my brothers house and interview the entire family, do background checks on everyone, etc.  He’s smart as fuck and has a national security level (as a 22 year old) that would make some long time CIA guys jealous.  Graduated with a BS in 3 years, without taking college credits in high school.

so yea ..... super fucking relevant .... cuz I’m super fucking proud.  And he balled with Livers.

Livers started in a National Championship game. Then went to the bench when Iggy came and was a great 6th man. Then he under most circumstances would have been “the man” as a junior but happened to be playing with Simpson and Teske. Now, when he’s a expected to be “the man” he’s played team ball throughout the way.

He is what MAAR was to this program. The ultimate teammate, player, and program guy. It’s players like Isaiah Livers that win teams championships and build programs.

There's no doubt in my mind that Livers will shine offensively sooner rather than later; in the meantime he still is doing a lot of the little things on both ends of the court and giving good leadership.

Well said - hear, hear!  His leadership and willingness to play winning basketball for the sake of the team is commendable!  Players like Isaiah make good teams great teams. This team truly has been a highlight of 2020. Perhaps their best play is still yet to come, too!

Thanks Isaiah for your outstanding leadership and teamwork!

that said, we still need him to hit 12 points per game to be effective. so i like your spirit, but he needs more production. he was ASS tonight. luckily this team hits double digit guys 5 times a night. He has been slow and lazy lately. Don't sugarcoat it. He will find his groove, but he could have played for MD tonight and we still win by 10+

He needs to ghost the team less frequently if we are going to be anything more than "just above average"

I appreciate Livers role on the team but think the best thing Livers can do to both help the team and help his slim chances at an NBA career is to follow Duncan’s lead in learning to take and hit that 3 point shot on the move. Right now Livers is strictly a wide open shooter....and tends to disappear on offense against teams with athletic wings.

In articles today, Howard explains Livers turned his ankle on a drive in the first half and they didn't think he could go in the second half, but he pushed through.

I think this happened fairly early in the game when Coach Howard took an early timeout.   Livers was strangely removed from the game at like the 16 minute mark.   At the time, it was a strange TO and substitution.   It now makes complete sense if Livers needed to be checked out by the medical staff.

Livers offensive numbers are normal but he’s improved his rebounds and assists totals. With Hunter, Coach was able to implement his “Inside Out” offense, there will be adjustment periods for everyone. So happy Wagner and Livers are back!!
