Stuck in Lansing

I agree. Anybody expecting a true freshman safety to cover an early round NFL draft pick WR successfully in a year with no spring practice doesn't understand how this works. Paige was in strictly for damage control and that was the type of performance we got. Defenses are behind this year, have expectations grounded in reality.

They plugged Paige in 1 for 1 for Dax and it went very not well. Then they swapped Green on Bateman when he was in the slot and it went better but then run support from the safety position (often manned by CBs) declined. Dax is able to do both roles and probably the only player on our roster able to do that.

Agreed. Paige is not going to cover slot WRs across the field and set the edge on runs as a true freshman. He's the lanky deep field S who can get over the top on deep throws while Hawkins helps in run support and drags, and Hill gets man coverage. Jarrod Wilson/Dymonte Thomas is who he reminds Brian of and I agree there as well. Putting him in as the Nickleback in man coverage is not going to work this season. Next year or as a junior? Sure. This year he needs Hill to play the role he's not ready to fill.

That was crazy.  They were talking him up quite a bit too and never noticed he was out?

I feel like I noticed within three plays, like why is number 7 still out there getting torched and edged (and for the record, I think the kid has a bright future but as a true frosh, he had a rough game)?  And how are we getting Michael Barret puke updates but not Dax Hill injury updates?

And then when they were like, we have news from the sideline that will impact Michigan's entire season, I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuu...Dax is done."

Harbaughs pants!  That was it.  Read the room, c'mon.

Why is no talking about Dalton Hill? He must have left the game around the same time as Dax, because I never heard Herbstreit mention Dalton again after Dax left the field.

S/ for the serious folks.
