Brandon Peters Senior Highlights

Submitted by FutureOfA2 on

Brandon Peters released his senior season highlights today. He has a legitimate argument for the #1 QB in this class, and a perfect fit for Harbaugh's offense as well. Max Preps reports stats of 188/315 2,803 yards, 35 TDs vs 5 Ints. Can't wait for this kid to get on campus. Enjoy:

I view it like this..I want the guy who's going to give us the best chance to win starting at QB. And if Peters comes in and leap-frogs those guys, I actually view that as a great sign of things to come.

I do agree with you in regards to starting a true-freshman QB in that it rarely works out. Henne was an exception to the rule, but he also had Braylon that bailed him out A LOT. The only rule I live by now is TRUST HARBAUGH.

It's not just about the physical tools and ridiculous arm talent.  He has to internalize the system, while being in the system i.e. develop the muscle memory and instincts required to excel optimally in the scheme. Not just memorizing the plays and audibles. That takes time. Harbaugh can't mind meld him nor upload it like Neo learning Kung Fu.  He'll need at least a redshirt year.  If he beats out the more experienced (and also quite talented) guys ahead of him on the roster than it's less than ideal for the position.

"He is going to be redshirted, that was part of the things we talked about, Coach Harbaugh said ‘Brandon, we’re going to redshirt you, and I want to make sure you’re OK with that because we are going to do this the right way. I redshirted Andrew Luck, I’m going to redshirt you and if you follow the process, good things will happen."

Was that even real? Those throws were in the bread basket with velocity and touch when needed. If that's not the best QB film I've ever watched then it's close.

Harbaugh will be reeling in multiple QBs, every class. Many of those recruits (maybe even transfers) will be highly rated. I'm not worried one bit about the age or year of the player. The absolute best overall QB will start. In 2016, that could be Peters.

I hope he doesn't have a problem taking snaps from under center. Ryan Mallet went only from shotgun in high school and he fumbled the snap like crazy his freshman year.

Hoping he's just as good under center, his highlights mostly show snaps out of the gun (suppose its the nature of the offense). Would be interested to see if he's as good with play action.

Peters' arm strength is noticably better from when he committed (I know, shocking...a 17-year old got stronger).

He used to throw his whole body into the deep throws. No more. He can sit back and drive the ball.

It's weird...he actually looked a lot like Rudock did yesterday in that highlight tape. Maybe a touch more speed?

Very Connor Cook-esque. Great pocket presence and, importantly, he knows how to put it up to his receivers on the perimeter in a place where they can make a play AND there is a low risk of the ball being intercepted. Great film.

Can't wait to see what Harbaugh will do once he gets his hands on him.

There's a lot of great options to choose from over the next few years. O'Korn, Gentry, Peters, Viramontes I think could all do great things in Harbaugh's offense. The best will be the one to play, and I think all of these guys could be great. Gotta like where this program is heading under our head man.

My girlfriend's grandfather was a lifer at Ben Davis and coached several big time D1 prospects -- including his son who is in the IU football hall-of-fame. He said Peters was the real deal and one of the best ever to come out of the state of Indiana. It should be fun to watch him develop under Coach Harbaugh.

will nose out Peters during next summers camp. It would be great if Peters could RS as a freshman. Gentry, Speight, Malzone or Morris will be the backup. I'm sure we'll see a few transfers next season.

I agree watching his tape he is the real deal. He will just need to learn the system and catch up with game speed. With a read shirt year we will be set at quarterback for a few years.
