Anyone In the Know with Regard to MSU Kick time?
Just curious if anyone has any more info than the regular joes with regard to the Sparty Kick time.
I just picked up tickets (S41 Row 79), however, am debating lodging on Saturday evening depending on kick time.
Does anyone know the system, or can anyone make a high confidence guess as to what the kick is MOST likely to be?
Im thinking 3:30pm which would be awesome for game atmosphere - but sucky for commute home....
ideas?

Most likely a 3:30 lock, sadly.

The next two games are at Noon.
Suck it.

I don't mind noon games. You really are... something.
September 14th, 2015 at 7:31 PM ^
Because they are not imortant games to most people that follow CFB.
September 14th, 2015 at 9:06 PM ^
Hopefully those are the last noon games this year. 11 AM starts here suck.

It hasn't been a noon game in Ann Arbor since 2002.
Highly doubt it.

blame the coach and AD, who no doubt both likem for a variety of reasons. The school makes the call on gametime unless the network overrules on the window available.
I would guess a 3:30 pm start but wouldn't rule out an early kick for this home game. In any case, Michigan has scheduled the noontime kickoffs against three Western timezone schools for obvious competitive reasons. Whether you like this or not, it's being done to enhance competitive advantage. Hard to argue with that when winning is the bottom line of playing the game.

Don't the TV networks set the time? I don't think we have control over whether it's at noon or 3:30. (We can veto a night game though.)

September 14th, 2015 at 4:34 PM ^
Unless Michigan loses to BYU and one (or both) of Maryland and Northwestern, it will very likely be a 3:30 kick.
Little chance the TV networks will want to put an intense rivalry game in a weak noon time slot especially given MSU's ranking. I'd say as long as we are 4-2 or better going into that game, you should put your money on 3:30.
September 14th, 2015 at 4:32 PM ^
Seems like the games usually end as the sun is going down.
Source? My very vague and drunken memories and/or my ass.
September 14th, 2015 at 4:34 PM ^
It was a 3:30 kick way back in 2012, for those of you that don't remember the days when Michigan actually hosted games against Michigan State.
September 14th, 2015 at 4:50 PM ^
Neither team was having an outstanding year but it seemed like it was contractually the plan all along for BTN to get the game.
September 14th, 2015 at 5:06 PM ^
As I recall, ABC / ESPN basically gets first draw on each time slot, but you're right - that game was on BTN in 2012. All it really means is that, from the perspective of the people making the choices, BTN - which gets its choice of the leftovers like every conference network - probably thought that was going to be the best game of those remaining.

Interesting fact: through 1957, UM played MSU in Ann Arbor 44 times, and in EL only 6. So until there are 38 games in a row ripped off in EL, there's not much to complain about regarding location.

September 14th, 2015 at 10:19 PM ^
If you agree to play the next 38 games in EL, I will concede afterward that the all-time record is a fair measure. I think that's exceedingly generous too, considering Michigan fans are among the only people left on Earth who brag about events in the 19th century with any degree of seriousness.

MSU was literally equivalent to WMU/EMU at the time as it wasn't in the Big Ten for the vast majority of that time period. We don't play home and homes with schools outside of major conferences.
So keep reaching with your asinine logic, Mr. Sparty!
September 15th, 2015 at 12:48 AM ^
So if MSU was not really MSU yet, why count all those wins against a WMU/EMU equivalent?

Wow. What a great analogy!!! LMAO!

Bolivia is the most impoverished nation in South America. But they likely have room for you, as population density is not a problem.
September 14th, 2015 at 10:24 PM ^
While you're checking facts, you might note that those games were played before MSU was in the Big Ten. Hell, it was before the school was even called MSU. Your program was at the MAC level for most of that time, so of course we weren't going to play you on the road.
Apples and oranges.
September 14th, 2015 at 11:21 PM ^
Then why cite those wins against a small agricultural college in the late 19th century when you lose a game in 2014?
September 15th, 2015 at 12:53 AM ^
Exactly. Why count wins against a pre-MSU school?

Did you really just create multiple usernames and comment on your own post? There are more important things in life, bruh.
September 15th, 2015 at 1:44 PM ^
Why count wins against Western Michigan this year? Why schedule games with FCS schools? Because getting those victories and ensuring great records builds program support and momentum, and every game counts.
Michigan taught the game to its rivals since it has been playing the sport longer than they have. And those early wins have always counted. You know, it's why you can claim this school went to the first Rose Bowl when the event was about chariot races and other activities designed to promote tourism in LA.
When should the counting actually start, when you're good enough to win or when you first field a team? Should the years that you suck or can't compete not count because......?

"When should the counting actually start, when you're good enough to win or when you first field a team? SHOULD THE YEARS THAT YOU SUCK OR CAN'T COMPETE NOT COUNT BECAUSE......?"
Oh, you mean like the hoardes of UofM fans that discount, minimize and practically nullify MSU's wins over Rich Rod and Hoke (especially Rich Rod) because UofM sucked or could not compete?
September 15th, 2015 at 1:54 PM ^
Two games, one during the Rich Rod era and the other under Hoke, and both at EL have been early games. But both were early games before the Sparties hqve made a national name for the program under Dantonio.
Michigan has always scheduled this game or the network has at 3:30 pm in Ann Arbor. I can't remember a game with MSU when that wasn't the case going back to early 90's.
More often, the game has been played at noon at Spartan Stadium, including in 1997 when Woodson made the greatest interception of all-time and the Sparties scored on a trick play.
September 14th, 2015 at 4:33 PM ^
Kick time should be announced a week or two ahead of the game, so you would most likely have ample time to cancel if you end up not needing a hotel room.
September 14th, 2015 at 6:00 PM ^
Check hotel cancellation policy, most of the time it's day before, but sometimes they'll have something different. Usually it's safe to book it and cancel if you don't need it though.

I came in last year and stayed at a Metro Airport hotel. I wanna say I paid like $49. I think it was the Knights Inn. My friends called it "the crime scene".

Haha, I think my brother stayed there when coming in for a Lions game last year. I felt bad leaving him.
