Of all the Cleveland Browns in the world, they're the Cleveland Browniest

Submitted by UMxWolverines on January 12th, 2020 at 12:46 PM

The Cleveland Browns, with the opportunity to hire someone experienced like Rivera or McCarthy to help keep the locker room together, instead hire Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski, who's offense put up 10 points and 7 three-and-outs last night in San Francisco. The Browns and Loins continue to battle it out for worst owners in sports. Sorry MgrowOld.

Was going to say Thread Title of the Year, but that's not really saying much. Then I was going to say Thread Title of the Decade! But that's not really saying much either.

So let me just congratulate you on a fine thread title.

This is the correct answer. If you say “21st century AD” (CE if you must) then the fact that there was no year 0 matters & the first day was 1 JAN 2001. If you say the decade of the 2020s, then that started 1 JAN 2020 & is a new decade following the 2010s.

Maybe I should have been a grade school teacher?

Not really.  I just informed the Browns I was deeply disappointed in the decision (especially since it appears the reason McDaniels wasn't hired was because he wanted Depodesta and Jimmy Haslam's son-in-law out and shockingly Depodesta and Jimmy Haslam's son-in-law didn't agree) and that my financial support would end in 2021 if this doesn't work.

Same thing I did with Michigan in Hoke/Brandon's last year.  I played the only card I had to let them know I was unhappy.

Hope Stefanski is the second coming of Sean Payton.  Fear he'll be more Freddie Kitchens.

Lions are worse.

1. Historically, Browns have enjoyed more playoff success than the Lions.

2. There's a lot of talent on the Browns roster.  The season before last, they could have been a 9-7 team but for giving away two games and turning them into losses instead.  I think that's why the pre-season hype was so optimistic for the Browns.

The Lions suck at at so many position groups.

What historical playoff success? The Cleveland Browns started in 1999 and have been by far the worst franchise in the league since that time. They had an expansion draft; the league artificially granting them the Ravens history is a complete sham and should not be recognized by anyone.

The Cleveland Browns started in 1999

Yeah, that's why the Baltimore Ravens have retired Jim Brown's number.

Jonny Unitas too because we all know he played for the <old> Cleveland Browns.

Here's another stat of Lions suckage for you:

Since 1999 this, ahem, expansion team, is 101-234-1.  The Lions during that same time period are only 21 games better than that expansion team at 122-213-1.

Cool, your team only has 21 less losses than the Lions covering a period where they lost Barry Sanders and gained Matt Millen.

History is not brandable. It reflects a collection of facts. If you think the your post-99 Browns have legitimate playoff historty, you're a true sucker.

I can't wait for MGrowOld to come in with the "McDaniels was a smokescreen"  stories and how Stefanski was their guy all along...lol.

Stefanski though will surely get 2 years before being fired. I mean, that's just how the Haslems' management cycle operates

Anyone who got a couple good seasons out of Kurt Cousins has to know something about how to make an offense work.  And anyone who makes decisions based on one football game is not going to have much success in football, or any other career for that matter.

Giants signed the receivers Coach from New England. Talk about a stretch. First in drops. Receivers running into coverage rather than away. Brady may stay in NE now that this guy is gone. Hope not. Brady would look great in Hawaiian Blue.

Rivera wanted to go to Washington and Washington wanted to hire him.

McCarthy is a head scratcher.  They interviewed him before Dallas did.
