2 Michigan Players in 1st round of SI Mock Draft (1 is not who you think...)
Interesting look into a mock 1st round.
Kenny Pickett (if you haven't seen this guy play, find a Pitt game, he's got the goods, dude) - 1st to Lions
George Karlaftis (brought back bad memories of a recruiting miss) - 2nd to the Jets
Aiden Hutchinson - 9th to the Falcons
David Ojabo (!?!?!) - 19th to Broncos
I hadn't seen Ojabo projected as an early NFL player, let alone projected in the 1st round. Also, Chris Olave not projected in the first round, but Wilson was.

Damn it, I missed Olave to the Chargers at 23...
Just figured he was going to be higher rated then Wilson. (I'll take my neg here, please).

These 22 superior athletes will put Olave in a pickle!

Darnit! Do we need to start with the "too short, too slow" stuff to keep Ojabo another year?
October 19th, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
Yes, please!
October 19th, 2021 at 10:46 AM ^
Who the hell told them about Ojabo?! He's awful! You hear me NFL scouts? You don't want this guy, he's uh, like smelly or something. Look away!
October 19th, 2021 at 10:44 AM ^
Also, Chris Olave not projected in the first round, but Wilson was.
It has Chris Olave 23rd to the Chargers.
EDIT: Nevermind, OP corrected themselves.

I love how click-bait titles have been imbedded in people’s brains as a thing to do…
October 19th, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
Ojabo certainly has upside but I think is both getting help from Hutchinson attention also has played some pretty not good tackles over the past few weeks. 1st rnd seems quite the stretch at this moment...
October 19th, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
Yeah but that may be exactly why he goes pro. Will his stock improve without Hutch?
October 19th, 2021 at 1:12 PM ^
I’m afraid that by the time this season is over they may want our entire DL. Although that could also mean great things.
October 19th, 2021 at 2:18 PM ^
Watching Purdue earlier this season I mused upon having Hutchinson and Karlaftis as bookends on this D-Line. Sigh...
October 19th, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
SI's corpse is dumb.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:03 AM ^
Exactly.
This article was written by the noted football expert Jack Borowski. Who is Jack Borowski you ask? Why Jack is a Freshman at the University of Miami and will graduate there in 2025. He has 4,000 followers on Twitter (allegedly) and knows about as much on draft projections as my cat Murphy.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:07 AM ^
I would argue that most mock draft "experts" have about the same accuracy as a cat when making mock drafts. Honestly, after the top 10 (even that is a BIG stretch, IMO), it is a complete throw a dart at the wall situation.
October 19th, 2021 at 12:50 PM ^
Most of them are much like Joe Lunardi. Guessing until their legitimately good sources in front offices tell them what to think.
October 19th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
Some of them have actually been part of a scouting org before or have access to GMs/scouting reports and hence know where teams have guys on their boards though. And hence many are pretty accurate.
This is an 18 year old kid intentionally throwing some random dudes in here that are related to big fan bases to get the kind of shock reaction that the OP obliged him with.
October 19th, 2021 at 12:23 PM ^
looks like Murphy's not really applying himself, if you ask me
October 19th, 2021 at 12:42 PM ^
When my son learned to read and write, SI called and offered him a job. True story.
October 19th, 2021 at 2:20 PM ^
Yeah, my first thought was this has to be some click bait user generated article. So I look up Jack Borowski and his Twitter Bio starts out semi-legit, I guess: Assistant Scouting Director for SI. Ok.
Then I see UMiami '25? Huh? Is he a grad student?
Nope! He's literally an 18 (maybe 19 but looks 12) year-old freshman: https://www.instagram.com/jack_borowsky/?hl=en
October 19th, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
Lol. I'll believe it when I see it. Sure we've seen some great growth out of him over the last couple of games but 19th? The kid has shown that he has some major upside but he's still super raw.
October 19th, 2021 at 10:51 AM ^
Imagine if Karlaftis was on M’s D line now.
October 19th, 2021 at 10:53 AM ^
There are a lot of random mock drafts on the internet, not sure this one needs special attention.
October 19th, 2021 at 10:54 AM ^
Karlaftis was always going to be a tough pull, given his connection and his mother's connection to West Lafayette and Purdue. Would have been great, and had Brohm taken the L'Ville opening, it may have happened. But I wouldn't categorize that as a miss. A lot of top programs wanted him. He chose to stay home.
October 19th, 2021 at 10:56 AM ^
Although SI sucks, Profootballnetwork also has Ojabo (and hill) going in the first round. So there is a ton of steam now for Ojabo.
It sucks, because that fucking horrible Wisconsin pass blocking Tackle is what is doing this to him.
October 20th, 2021 at 3:48 PM ^
Your last sentence is terrible and flat out wrong. Ojabo's play along with impressive physical tools is "what is doing this to him".
He didn't rack up all 4.5 sacks (or the multitude of other impressive plays/pass rushing moves he's had this year) on that Wisconsin OT.
He's going to be a 1st Rd player sooner or later so let's just enjoy him while he's at M.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:10 AM ^
Ojabo needs at least another year.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:13 AM ^
David Ojabo sucks. The only reason he makes any sacks is because Aidan Hutchinson plays opposite him. Maybe Ojabo will be good in three years, but there's no way he should be picked in the first round. I have it on good authority that he only runs a 6.2 forty and can only bench press Mike Sainristil 3 times.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:49 AM ^
He's got bad breath and he snores a lot too.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:24 AM ^
Kenny Pickett is a really good prospect. I'd take Thibodeaux first overall though, so the Lions might have to package picks if they're going to go after Pickett too. He certainly won't still be there at the end of the first round.
October 19th, 2021 at 11:47 AM ^
I watched Thibodeaux play Cal this weekend. He was incredible, but I would take Hutchinson over him. Aiden has more bulk and is better in the run game. The Ducks subbed Kayvon out on most second downs so he would be ready to go get the QB on 3rd down.
October 19th, 2021 at 1:02 PM ^
I don't know how they can put off getting a QB if Pickett is worthy of a top of the 1st round pick. Lions may not win a game this year or next with Goff. What's the point of starting him?
October 19th, 2021 at 1:12 PM ^
Pickett might be good, but he wasn't good enough to beat WMU when I was in Pittsburgh a month ago.
Again, that score:. WMU 44-Pitt 41.
And before 41 points overly impressed anyone, WMU gave up more points than that 2 Saturdays ago at home vs. Ball State.
But...it would be a very "Loins" thing to do to reach for him in the first round.
October 19th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
Pickett wears gloves on both hands to throw. I wouldn't draft him 1st overall for that reason alone. Dork.
