...Fielding H. Yost was quite the operator. His players knew the score and kept their mouths shut. Between this and other stories of shadiness (e.g., the captain who left school amid allegations he'd never gone to class, the long list football players who had previously played on the collegiate level who were enrolled in the law school and somehow had additional eligibility), it's no wonder Yost's teams were so dominant.  The story of how Michigan left the Big Ten is instructive. It was all about Amos Alonzo Stagg trying to establish rules that would hinder Yost and Yost telling everyone he was taking his ball and going home.

I'm just saying.
