Game Day Weather

Sorry for the different weird formatting; I’m up north and my cell service/wifi is fighting me getting this posted! Y’all know how that goes! :) High pressure is giving us a beautiful Friday but a low pressure system and cold front moving in Saturday will change that. Expect increasing clouds on Saturday. The better chance for rain is Sunday but don’t rule out seeing drizzle/a stray shower Saturday, too. Temperatures will be comfortable during the day and into the late night with a light wind. Should be a great night game against Bowling Green! Just bring the extra layer or light jacket if you’ll be going from tailgating to cheering on our guys under the lights! Let’s go blue!!

TAILGATING

We’ll start the day with sunshine before seeing clouds move in! If you’re making this an all day event or running to grab the last tailgate items, there will be patchy fog early on in the morning. We’ll start Saturday in the 40s but warm up quickly! Just by mid morning we’ll be in the mid 50s before making it to near 70 for lunch- the lots open at noon. Highs for the afternoon will be in the low 70s with increasing cloud cover and a light SW breeze. Perfect grilling weather! And if you want to take the younger kiddos to see the marching band rehearse that’s over at Elbel at 2:30pm. We’ll turn cloudy into the evening with temperatures starting to fall into the upper 60s as you walk toward the gates.

KICKOFF

With our sunset at 7:45 and plenty of clouds, it’ll be dark quickly! 67 to start the game with light winds. How’s that new lighting look?! The upgrades the stadium did over the offseason include an LED lighting system that includes maize and blue lights! The new system will reduce energy usage and is supposed to make it easier to see the field/action whether at the game or at home watching on tv.

HALFTIME

While you definitely didn’t need the long sleeve at the tailgate and you might have used it as a cushion for the start of the game, you may be putting it on at this point, depending on how high your adrenaline is! Hey it may not be a heart pounding game but who knows how that light show is going :D Or maybe it’s the halftime show, has you dancing by your seat! Saturday night’s show is all about the bad guys - it features “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from the Little Mermaid, “Defying Gravity” from Wicked, etc. Mid 60s for the break but we’ll start to fall into the low 60s for the second half. Winds will stay light with cloudy conditions, and although a spotty shower is possible it’s not likely.

POST-GAME

Nearing the 60 degree mark by the time the lights walk you out with the dub! We’re taking the win home with cloudy skies and a light wind. Mid 50s for last call if you’re hanging out late to celebrate! The chance is there to run into a stray shower but the better shot at rain is Sunday. Go blue!!!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!
