Game Day Weather

Game Two! Our current set up has high pressure to the east and an incoming cold front. This has served to give us beautiful sunshine for our Friday before clouds start to move in Saturday out ahead of the front. We're lucky in that it's a slow moving system so the main rain will hold off - it's just spotty shower chances for Saturday. It will be another warm day and mild evening with not much breeze for relief. Even though it's a Fall evening game no doubt many will still be in their t-shirt and shorts to cheer on our guys against Hawaii!

Tailgating

It's a mild start to our Saturday morning if you're a real go-getter and you're out there early setting up that tailgate tent! Mid 60s in the morning with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds will generally be light, out of the S at around 5mph, just enough to rustle the leaves. If you've got buddies arriving closer to the mid afternoon time frame or when that one friend (we all have one) that hasn't volunteered to bring anything yet fiiinally texts you and asks what to bring, double check the cooler. Chances are you might want ice! By lunchtime temps will be near 80 and we'll continue to add a few degrees to that through the afternoon. It'll be a little muggy, too, as we remain under some cloud cover with a light S wind. This is one of those days you'll want to remind yourself to drink some water throughout the day also, otherwise you'll be miserable halfway through the game. Winds stay out of the S through the afternoon, picking up to near 10mph at times (enough to get small branches in motion) as clouds stick around. There is a slim chance for rain to pop up. It's small, but it is there, so hey good thing you set up your tent! As we head toward game time, make sure to toss anything that may have spoiled in the heat - y'all have read this forecast long enough to know that macaroni salad that sat out all day in the sun is not worth keeping lol ;)

Kickoff

With the sun setting just before game time we truly are going to get all the feels of a night game right away! Mostly cloudy to overcast skies are expected for the start and first half of the game, and that chance for spotty rain will continue as well. 74 degrees for the start with a light breeze out of the S around 5mph. In case you're thinking, this is crazy warm, it is - our normal high this time of year is 77 degrees!

Halftime

Dropping back to around 70 by halftime under mainly cloudy skies. Our breeze remains light and southerly. I wonder if the Hawaiian players are thinking that it just feels like home for them at this point?! The halftime show theme is crushed - a continuation of last week's summer loving theme but now it's the break up and getting back in the game. If you choose to get a late night snack, by the time you get back in the game/to your seat we're finishing out the game falling into the upper 60s.

Post-Game

Walking out of the gates with a win almost feels even better on a late night doesn't it? Just something more exciting about a night game! We'll be cloudy overnight. There will be that slight chance of rain to pop up but the much better chance will be on Sunday, so why not head out on the town to celebrate the w?! Temps will be in the mid 60s by last call with just a light S wind. Sunday will be cloudy with showers moving in and highs in the mid 70s. Go blue!!!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!

Spent the first several decades of my life in SE Michigan running a weather-dependent industry. I learned early to never trust a Michigan weather forecast. They are better now than they used to be, but the ability to do a precise forecast more than 12 hours ahead of time in the region simply doesn't exist yet.
