I bought the first jersey of my life at the M Den before the Iowa game last year, my first time at the big house. Drove 16 hours to get to the game. I will wear that jersey every game day until I'm too fat to fit it anymore and make no apologies for it. For what it's worth I am currently 28.
BTW it is the expensive #16 with the sewn in numbers.
Thinking what DB did was a mistake and opinions on the current coach are seperate issues. I am distraught about how the whole thing was handled, but I completely back Hoke as the hire and want to see what he can do to get this thing going again.
Anyone who reads the blog should know exactly why Brian is pissed. Year 4 of Rich Rodriguez was superior to every option except for Harbaugh in his mind. We find out that DB knew Harbaugh wasn't really in the mix and he proceeded to fire RR anyway, with no real succession plan in place other than OMGOOZLE PANIC HIRE CASE CLOSED and there's no real excuse for that. The one thing that would unite the fan base is winning, and RR was set up to do that in Year 4 as long as the stuffed beaver was coaching the defense and GERG wasn't. That is my main beef with this whole thing. I would rather have seen 1 more year or Rodriguez in a win or go home year then scrap everything and start over with an unproved head coach. I guess I kind of mixed what I think Brian's opinion and mine in there.
I remember a better time when I didn't know MGoBlog existed and the only thing I cared about was the product on the field every Saturday. Now it has spread to an all day year round fixation with recruiting, watching every move of a bunch of fickle teenage kids. Sometimes I wish I could just go back to caring about watching the game every Saturday and being ignorant of the rest of it.
Sorry to thread jack but I am driving 16 hours to see my first ever Michigan game against Iowa and I don't have the points to start my own thread. I am looking for some can't miss places to eat in Ann Arbor and any advice for where to park, what to see, etc. I will probably get there around 10 am Saturday morning and want to do all I can before the game. Any help is appreciated.
So I am approximately 10 days away from starting my drive to Ann Arbor. Since I am unable to start a new thread maybe someone can help me here. I need to know the best place to eat in Ann Arbor and where I should park for the game. Also, since it is a 3:30 start time what time are people usually out there tailgating. This will probably be my only chance to ever catch a game in person so I would like to make it the most memorable experience I can. Any help is appreciated.
If we get 8 wins I will give a thumbs up and say "Mission Accomplished." I can't even imagine a coaching change and another 3 years of transition. However if GERG got fired I can't imagine it would be that hard to transition to a new defensive coordinator. It looks like they got their defensive playbook from NCAA Football 11, except only the zone plays, and those don't even work in the game.
It's funny that they thought that it was all Weis and and as soon as he left the dark cloud over Notre Dame football would be lifted and Jesus would come from the heavens to play running back for them.
I just don't understand the 10 yard cushion on wideouts EVERY PLAY. I know they are playing a zone but are they really so slow that they can't play on the line of scrimmage EVER? It drives me nuts that they just toss the ball to the outside and it's an automatic 5 yards every time.
I was hoping for some positive impact with Carvin coming back.. any other defensive players that are injured that I can hope will magically fix the defense?
In the press conference RichRod said it was "no big deal." I saw Lewan get shoved while he was standing out of bounds after a Denard run and I screamed at my TV for a flag. It did not work. It seems after this the chippiness began.
I signed up here so I could start planning a trip to A2 to see my first ever Michigan game. Already started looking for tickets and mapping out the 16 hour drive. Now we play the waiting game...
