There's been a lot of…

There's been a lot of mention on the pay sites throughout camp and the season that Trente Jones had issues with consistency (some of which we saw when he came in during games).  If Barnhart was considered 1 of the best 5 and more consistent than Jones, then it makes perfect sense.

I mean, special teams as a…

I mean, special teams as a whole was confoundingly bad yesterday.  In seriously uncharacteristic ways.  From the punt returners to the long snapper to both kickers.  I'm willing to chalk it up to some weird fluke until further notice.

This game plan will surely…

This game plan will surely not work against Bama

Why do people say stuff like this?  Of course it won't.  Which is why it will be a different game plan.  Just like the game plan for every game is different.  Because they play a different team every game. Seriously, why the hell would the game plan for Iowa be the same as the game plan for Alabama?

Kenneth Grant, a 340lb man,…

Kenneth Grant, a 340lb man, ran down a RB 30 yards downfield and sidestepped another player to yank him down to the ground.  I wasn't even mad about the run, I was so psyched.  One of the most amazing football plays I've ever seen.

Because leverage is…

Because leverage is important.  I get that many fans just want to see them go scorched earth but if the B1G backs off, why give up all your cards?  Keep them in your pocket for another day when they might be needed.

Wow.  Haven't heard that…

Wow.  Haven't heard that term in years.  But yes, I suppose we're in for an interesting day.

I think people are…

I think people are overreacting to the Maryland game.  Allar has been good (not great) all season when not pressured.  Maryland is not good at creating pressure and didn't do so in that game.  I'm not saying Penn State isn't a good team or that it won't be a tough game but the Maryland game wasn't them turning some corner.  It was more of what we've seen all season long.  Give Allar enough time in the pocket and he'll carve up a defense on short to intermediate throws usually not throwing any further than 10 yards downfield.

I mean, without all those…

I mean, without all those touchdowns we scored, it's a 7-0 Indiana win.  *shrug*

Agreed.  Just not really…

Agreed.  Just not really seeing receivers wide open downfield off of it this year.  Again, save the double against Rutgers.

Random observation: I feel…

Random observation: I feel like our flea flickers haven't really been working this year.  I mean, I think they've all led to 1st downs but it seems like the defense hasn't been fooled any time we've run it that I can remember this year.  Except for that double reverse flea flicker against Rutgers.

Some don't seem to…

Some don't seem to understand that the soft coverage is completely competition-based.  Against a competent offense, my guess is the defensive plan changes.

Eh.  That penalty wasn't…

Eh.  That penalty wasn't unrelated.  It allowed the QB to get the ball off.  Because Goode gets to him otherwise.

EDIT: Oops. Replied to the wrong comment.

I wouldn't say they where…

I wouldn't say they where fluky.  The WRs made 2 great catches.  Sometimes, you have to tip your cap and move on.  You can't stop everything.

Yeah.  I see a lot of people…

Yeah.  I see a lot of people don't seem to understand this.  Michigan rotates it's 2s in throughout the game when it matters especially on defense.  So when the game is out of hand, it's the 3s and 4s who are playing.

People seem to be equating…

People seem to be equating no sacks with no pressure.  We got plenty of pressure when ECU wasn't throwing quick outs.  Pressured Garcia and then the other dude into a lot of bad looks/passes.  I'm not saying there's no room for improvement but it feels like some just want gaudy stats and equate lack of them with poor play which just isn't the case.

But he's also a new starter…

But he's also a new starter.  They lost a lot of production from last year's 8-5 team, including the QB and both 1,000 yd receivers.  I see no reason why anyone would expect that our replacements will struggle but theirs will thrive.

Oh absolutely.  I mean, they…

Oh absolutely.  I mean, they're essentially just spin bikes with a tablet bolted on.  But as a business model, if you can get people to pay the (ridiculous) premium for that, it's a no brainer.  Peloton's recent financial issues notwithstanding.

Actually, I don't believe…

Actually, I don't believe they can. As stated in the article, they're not actually allowed to comment on the ongoing investigation.

4 threads down.

4 threads down.

I mean, I expected him to be…

I mean, I expected him to be gone after this year all along so can't say I'm too upset about this one.  Thought it would be to the NFL but gone is gone.

Given how close he was to…

Given how close he was to the sideline is it possible that he just lost his balance for a second trying to avoid the ankle tackle and wound up out of bounds unintentionally?

Am I crazy? It's at noon. …

Am I crazy? It's at noon.  Wasn't it already announced as the BIG Noon game that week?

Right?  I feel like pretty…

Right?  I feel like pretty much everyone expected this game to be ugly.  And then we won, and now so many seem to be mad that the game was a little bit ugly (not even a lot ugly).

The ball would have had to…

The ball would have had to come out right away but it was there.  The window closed quickly, though.

I think if JJ hits 2 of the…

I think if JJ hits 2 of the 5 open receivers he overthrew on deep balls today, we score 2 more TDs and everybody feels differently about the offense.  For the most part, I think it was fine.  The playcalling led to some opportunities.  But JJ was a little off today (and still threw 70% for 220 and 2 TDs so...yeah).

He does need to learn when to give up on a play.  If no one's open, you've got to either check it down, throw it away or run.  You can't just hold the ball.

Because last year was last…

Because last year was last year.  And the competition wasn't neck and neck last year.  Both guys have improved and evolved somewhat and now the race is tight.  Harbaugh's just looking for live game reps to help determine who breaks the tape.

I don't get why so many seem…

I don't get why so many seem to think there's some ulterior motive to the split start announcement.  Personally, I figure it's exactly what the man said it is.  The competition is too close to call based solely on practice so he wants to see each in live game reps before moving forward with the decision.  Just because the competition level is low doesn't mean you can't learn things from real game situations.  Harbaugh has straight up stated what he wants to look at in the games.  How both guys handle various situations/scenarios.  Things that can't be replicated full go in practice due to the innate practice nature of it.

While the competition isn't…

While the competition isn't great, it's still live game reps.  You can still learn things from QB play against lesser teams.  Sure, the talent level isn't high but the same situations/scenarios will be seen.

Yes, but I imagine these 1st…

Yes, but I imagine these 1st 2 games will be additional data rather than a "whoever plays best in this 1 game wins" scenario.

And he still has a chance to…

And he still has a chance to prove that.  Nobody has taken the job from him.  Harbaugh's rolling the footballs out and saying to both QBs "go get it".

Nah, there was no good view…

Nah, there was no good view of both the knee and the ball. The only view where you could see his knee didn't have a good view of what was happening with the ball.

Northwestern's commitment to throwing the ball 7 yards short of the first down marker on 3rd and long is...admirable.

It's new.  Launching tomorrow apparently.  Notre Dame and Purdue have similar setups in place with the same company.

So has he been here all camp…

So has he been there all camp?  That's my only real question.

This is strange to say the least.  But I suppose if it doesn't work out, it's really nothing lost.  He runs out of eligibility and both parties move on.

No, I think it just means…

No, I think it just means they won't accept requests from Adidas and Under Armour.  Basically, any direct competitors of the University of Michigan's sponsors.  Not competitors of various NIL sponsors.

They're on MDen.com.  The picture shows them as brown but the description has blue as the correct color.

We've seen Cade make all the…

We've seen Cade make all the throws we want him to make (including the ones people are screaming about him missing in the Nebraska game).  His real problem seems to be consistency.  We know he can hit the deep ball, we know he can hit a WR on a crossing route in stride, we know he can hit short routes in the flat, we know he can hit bubble screens behind the line.  He just needs to do all of this more consistently.  Now, if he was a 5th year senior, I'd say he probably is what he is and won't improve in this area.  But he's a redshirt freshman.  I'm hoping for a nice Jake Rudock second half trajectory as Cade makes his way towards double digit career starts.

Sounds like it.  Seems like…

Sounds like it.  Seems like he was fully expecting them to adjust eventually and planned to counter that only...they never adjusted.  I'd be confused, too.  And wondering if this was somehow a trick.

According to their 247 board…

According to their 247 board, they don't expect to have any of them back.  But we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Well, I can't speak to the Michigan ones but I love the Pegasus line.  Easily the most comfortable shoes I've owned.

I have to say I find it kind…

I have to say I find it kind of odd that so many people seem to be against this.  Almost everything has gone paperless at this point.  Michigan Athletics is actually far behind here.

Really?  My tickets have been on my phone for the last several years.  I've never had any issues with getting them scanned.  As for the dead zone thing, take a screenshot of your ticket before you get there.  Done deal.

According to their website, 104 players have been signed to NFL teams since 2017.  *shrug*

Aggghhh this game was as…

Aggghhh this game was as frustrating on the offensive side as it was masterful on the defensive side.  Blair's the only one who wanted to be clutch tonight.  Hoping the bats just got a little confused by the midweek contest and will wake up this weekend.  Seems like Alex Storako throws up a gem every other game.

They should be thinking that…

They should be thinking that he hasn't won the job.  Get him on the court and compete.  Any 1 of them or Zeb could beat him out still.

And let's be real, as much as we love our incoming class, they weren't all going to contribute in their freshmen year before Jones so nothing's changed for some of them.
