Yeah, I agree with hammering…

Yeah, I agree with hammering home the point that the Big 10 is trying to get around their own bylaws, which prevents them from punishing a person who has done nothing wrong by "punishing the institution".

If the Big 10 could always get around that by "punishing the institution" then they wouldn't need to make the distinction in the first place. That and there are examples like fines or tv bans that show how the Big 10 can punish an institution without one specific person being negatively impacted.

The Big 10 specifically goes out of its way to state, "This is not a sanction of Coach Harbaugh. It is a sanction against the University..."

If the rumor of Petitti asking President Ono to suspend Harbaugh is true, then it seems like punishing Harbaugh was always the intent and that they worded their punishment in a way to accomplish their original goal.

I wonder if multiple people were present when Petitti made that request, if it is true. Because if there were other people present, I imagine Michigan could point out that the Big 10 always intended to punish Harbaugh, even before Michigan responded to the Big 10's notice last week.

Tom Herman might be let go…

Tom Herman might be let go at Texas. I've always liked him as a coach and maybe a second shot at a big program would give him perspective on what to do differently.

+1 for Google flights

I second Google flights. I try to get all my friends and family to use it when they're searching for the best deals.

I briefly skimmed through this video but it seems to highlight most of what I tell friends & family about Google flights: https://youtu.be/0FbGfaUE8Ic

For background, Google purchased a big airfare search / pricing system called ITA back in 2010. I think ITA was the industry standard so it gave Google a nice leg up and ties in perfectly with their overall search philosphy.

Google flights has a nice visual layout and also gives you quick access to see how the price changes based on nearby airports or different dates.

You can do that already but it's usually done per airline. With Google flights you can see the price differences for multiple airlines at once instead of just one.

You can also do broad searches like DTW to California/Texas/Asia/Europe/etc. and it'll show you prices for multiple cities in that geographical location.

You might also find it useful to look at your trip in one-way chunks. For example, it may be more economical to purchase the flight down on Delta and the flight back on United versus a roundtrip ticket on one airline.

Note: 'll add the only concern with flying multiple airlines is if you're trying to do connecting flights. If you have connections you should probably stick with one airline so they can adjust later portions of your flight if for some reason your first flight gets delayed.

New #10 Michigan Jersey at Nike Store Las Vegas

Saw a new Michigan Tom Brady jersey at the Las Vegas Nike Store this weekend.

http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/pd/player-michigan-brady-mens-football-j…

Lots of Maize and Blue in Vegas in general but was pretty cool to see the new jersey since #10 is now an option as opposed to just #1 and #4.

My size was sold out so I had to order from Nike.com but figured others here might also be interested since it only seems to be sold through Nike.

Speaking of Miles...

It was great to see his tweet yesterday. Knowing that people would read into what it means and why he tweeted it -- and still tweeting it out is an encouraging sign.

Hiring anyone who isn't

Hiring anyone who isn't qualified for a certain position for the sake of fulfilling some requirement is not good.

Understanding that biases come into play and not adjusting for those biases is also a problem. Bringing in your "friends" from SDSU when there might have been a better coach for one of those positions (who happens to be diverse) might have been a better call.

While I do agree on diversity I was taken back that diversity, in this case, referred specifically to a black person. So I don't agree with calling for diversity and then not being diverse in your definition of what diversity means.

Also I have a problem with the OP because he somehow disregards Fred Jackson as being a coach (i.e., "if you remove Fred Jackson from the staff then there are no black coaches" - paraphrasing).

Did anyone see this on Twitter?

I still find it odd that the University has to post EVERY job

I concur
