Agreed. Wife and I were in Miami on vacation, and saw Miami vs Clemson was playing in town with really cheap lower bowl seats. Why not go?

Result:  Big stadium with mostly empty upper deck, tons of loud pipped in noise and RAWK, and aside from the crazy overtime, the football was pretty wretched. Nice to have seen it, but it so pales by comparison to most game day experiences. They did seem to know how to tailgate in the 305, however. Dale.

At 27-10, I was restless and pissed watching the game at home. I took my boys out into the neighborhood to do some trick or treating, and it was cold and crappy. I kept the game on a little radio and earbuds, because of course. When the rally ensued, we ran back home to see the last Braylon TD and OT. My boys still talk about it today.

Obviously, stay, to avoid twice as much trouble.  Duh.

I’ve become a big Pulisic (and thus Chelsea) fan during all this, having never watched a ton of EPL prior. Super fun, no ads during games, and Pulisic is just lighting it up and dangerous every time he touches the ball.  And understanding Europe and the US are different situations, still makes me think we could do a similar thing with football.

I think it would be cool if the Panamanian anthem was actually “Panama” by Van Halen.  Just imagine some Panamanian on the Olympic podium getting a gold medal, lip syncing to David Lee Roth saying “I could barely see the road from the heat coming off. . . Agreed.  T-Mobile worked great in Europe without any need for changing SIMs, unlimited data especially nice for the kids, and has WiFi calling, which solved my problems of really poor signals for ATT, Sprint, and Verizon at my house, and much cheaper than comparable Verizon plans.

Ugly and beautiful That was the most beautiful ugly, gut wrenching game. Not sure we can keep Simpson and Matthews on the floor in end of game/sure foul situations. Big liability.

Mlive Mlive did an article on bbq in Michigan a few years back, giving West Texas BBQ in Jackson the nod. I’ve tried to stop there on two occasions, but were closed both times. http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2012/06/michigans_best_bbq… I really like the brisket at Slows in GR, but hard to compare to the BBQ at Stiles Switch in Austin TX, which was amazing.

Tennessee -- ugggggh

Went to Grad school at Vandy, and the annual Vandy/UT game usual fell during the Thanksgiving break for the undergrads, so the tickets would get picked up by UT fans.  This made the fact that the Vandy teams sucked as usual all the more painful.  We would end up sitting among the idiots in orange, with the interactions getting quite ugly at times.  Their fanbase reminds me a lot of OSU fans, but much more stupid.

Just got back from Texas, which included a stop at Stiles Switch BBQ in Austin-- the brisket was melt in your mouth delicious.  No long wait and super friendly staff.

Bubba Paris in all his glory

My dad was a high school basketball coach, and would always take us to the state HS basketball finals at Chrysler.  Between games, we were wandering around campus and found the doors to the indoor football practice area open, and strolled in to find the team finishing up and going into the locker room.  We just followed some of them in and nobody stopped us. We get to where the scales are and suddenly out walks Bubba Paris in only a towel, gets on the scale and drops it to get his weight.  As a 6th grader, I remember thinking "holy crap, it's Bubba" and "HOLY CRAP HE'S NAKED" and "that is one huge dude."  We took that as our cue to exit quietly.
