UM did not put Kansas away in regulation when they needed to and let them back in it. Tough way to finish. Overall, very good season. Would have loved to watch one more game.
Michigan up by 3 at half, 32-29. KU had hot shooting the first half of quarter; Michigan weathered it well, and warmed up in latter part of the quarter to regain the lead. One half to go!!
Sainristil had a strong day. He needed to run a sub 4.5 and did. He also had a very good gauntlet drill.
Nate Wiggins ran a 4.28 in the 40. He heard a pop in his hip and groin area. He was seen with an ice pack on his leg; his weekend ended early.
The Lions need at CB is an outside one. Mikey projects to be a slot corner in NFL, and the Lions just drafted Branch. That said, whichever team drafts Mikey will get one heckuva of a player. I am planning to be at the Combine on Friday and see him do very well.
Yes, agree. People get offered a job to leave. The team/company may decide to counter because they want to keep you. If you like the company and the $$ and the counter offered, and like the location or don't want to move, you change your mind and stay. . The Texans have a good, young team. Adegoke seemed like a very good choice. Sounds like we have another good option, let's get it done.
Well, this is a real gut punch on a Saturday morning. All of the defensive coaches are turned over from a month ago, and our new DC has not had ties to college football for a couple decades. The remaining defensive staff needs to be strong in developing players, excellent recruiters, and be able to keep players from transferring. That's not asking much.
I can share a photo of Roman Wilson's game tying TD in the 4th quarter. I also can share the final play pre-snap. Any photos I have of the last play included too many arms raised, and my leaps of joy!
Trying a new line up this year. Smoking a brisket (we were up a o'dark hundred to start the smoker); jambalaya, salad, potatoes, veggies, and rolls on the side. Sticking with Apple Pie for desert
Freeman's explanation was pathetic. .Take some ownership. The players took more ownership than he did with their responses to having 10 defenders on the field
Tuck gone. Not surprised. His Monday presser and subsequent interviews would have all been about the allegations and upcoming hearing. MSU should have anticipated the investigation being discovered. Now the billable hours by attorneys can really start.
Not worried about our new scoreboards - they'll be ready. Besides, Vanderbilt set a pretty low bar for scoreboard standards. Half their stadium is being renovated and their scoreboards are supported by two cranes
Notre Dame has great latitude in who they schedule (outside of the ACC arrangement). They need the CFB Playoffs to have an At-Large bid option continue to be part of the playoff structure. Without it, they will join a conference. And given the strong TV / Media relationships they have, I don't that changing anytime soon.
Yes, absolutely. Larry Scott's disastrous leadership may not be sole reason for the Pac-12 demise, but it's a good chunk of the reason. The Pac-12 Presidents were then too slow, complacent, and apathetic to realize how bad he was.
Discovered Jersey Mike's about 20 years ago, and have not changed! Runner up is Potbelly's. Our children loved both growing up! Have not eaten at a Subway in over a dozen years.
Coach Shrewsberry graduated from the same HS that my kids attended. He's been back to the HS on occasion to speak to their basketball team. The feedback from my son was he was an outstanding speaker - great message and very relatable. Regardless of the team composition at Penn St, getting the Nittany Lions to the NCAA Tournament is a pretty impressive accomplishment. He was going to be hired by some school. Not an ND fan, but a good hire for them.
That was Franklin's recruiting MO when he was the Head Coach at Vandy. Seemed pretty unique back then, but now seems a little stale . . . . similar to his game day preparations.
Great update as usual Matt! Excited to see if we can land Kante. Regarding Booker, both Coach Martelli and Coach Howard were in Indy the last Sat/Sun of June to see him play. Agree with you it is unlikely he will end up at Michigan. Another team that is recruiting him hard is ND.
After the news last year of OU and Texas to the SEC, I thought adding USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Cal to the Big 10 West was very plausible -- Alliance or no Alliance.
Congratulations Magnus on starting with Rivals. Appreciate your TTB site and your visitor recruiting updates that you link here - your summaries are helpful to track who is making their way to A2.
Thanks for remembering him! I saw the news of his passing, and enjoyed seeing him in movies. First memory of him was in The Right Stuff, portraying astronaut Gus Grissom.
For me, though, his most memorable line was in Sweet Home Alabama as delivered to Reese Witherspoon (a Harpeth Hall Nashville alum) - "You can't ride two horses with one ass, Sugarbean"
Matt - I really enjoy your basketball recruiting updates. Thanks! I've watched Booker play the last 3 years (he plays for my son's high school). Each year he has improved greatly. He played really well the last several weeks this season. I am not an evaluator to know what his ceiling is, but he is a good kid. Both Izzo and Painter have been to see him in person a handful of times this year, as well as last summer. Martelli has watched him in person, so there is some Michigan interest.
Congratulations to her - what an honor! Thank you to her for her service and to you for sharing this story. You should be very proud. I was at the game with my son, who is a high school senior and considering ROTC as he considers what college to attend. I will share this story with him as well.
If the B1G truly believes the long range outcome of conference reshuffling is inevitable, and somewhat "borderless", as a first step to a B1G/Pac12 super-conference they should look at the 4 California schools - USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Cal - and create an 18 school conference.
There would be 9 schools in the "west" or non-EST time zone, and 9 schools in the east. The academics of the 4 schools would align well with the Big10, and you would have the NoCal and SoCal television markets.

Of course, these thoughts are always easier than the execution.
Matt- I greatly enjoy your recruiting posts, so much thanks for them! I’ve had the opportunity in the Indy area to watch HS basketball the past few years and saw Jalen Hooks most recently last month in the HS summer league. I don’t have the aptitude to evaluate and rank talent so seeing your assessment of him in the 50-75 range and what I see of him helps me understand talent better.
Question on 2023 recruiting – with COVID lockdowns last year, there were few opportunities to see this year’s juniors until this summer. Do you anticipate a lot more uncertainty in rankings than prior years until AAU and the Winter season starts?

As a gold card-carrying D.R.E.A.D. member, I concur.
And don't forget to show your card at Harmony House for $1 off cassettes

Finally got a stop on D, but didn't get the rebound.
Yes, decent look, but not a great shot
Aarrgghh - OT!
What a BS friendly rim bounce! Tied with 12 secs left. UM ball.
now KU gets called for a charge- good
Great to see the band there and hearing the Victors! Let's finish strong!
Great 3rd quarter! One more to go!
Great to see him there!

Michigan by 1, 11-10, after a low scoring, tight defense first quarter.
Let's Go Blue! A win over KU in basketball is always sweet - let's get it!
I wish I could upvote you more. I saw the topic headline, thought it was a joke, and clicked to see the punchline. Never, ever, ever.

Fornelli is usually pretty good, but it was a poor article - provided no new information, and had inaccuracies.

What a horseshit call

Panter was a JUCO transfer from state of Kansas
Martindale would also be a solid defensive analyst hire, if not the DC. He can mentor younger coaches for the scheme, and help with the game plan.

The ending was a little bumpy - a few bad pass turnovers. But a nice bounce back win for KBA and her team! Go Blue!

Outstanding job by the entire coaching staff. Congrats to Coach Moore - just great today! His post-game interview was a-maize-ing! Love for Michigan!

The Lakers coach next year will be someone other than Juwan Howard, regardless of what is speculated in the media, social media, etc.

Hutchinson for Heisman!
JWG - thanks so much for posting. It is an amazing show by the Marching Band. I did not make it to the game, and enjoyed watching it this morning.
TV game lineups are very marketable- essentially a better triple-header line-up than present
Game 1) 12:00 Noon ET - East division games
Game 2) 3:30pm ET (12 Noon PT) - marquee East game or marquee West Div game
Game 3) 7:00pm or 8:00pm ET (4:00 pm PT) - marquee West coast game or marquee East game
Game 4) 10:00pm ET - West division games; this last one may not be weekly
But you can matchup two marquee games for both west and east coasts.
I agree with this thought.

WVU beats Pitt as they should have - LSU does not get to the National Championship game, and, I believe, MIles likely would have been hired.
