Oh, I don't doubt the XFL is…

Oh, I don't doubt the XFL is fun. It just sounded like they might not make it to a second season due to financial issues.

Hmm, I had been running with…

Hmm, I had been running with the assumption there would be many classes/years of former players to draw from. But if that isn't sufficient...borrow from other local alumni? For Michigan, the directional schools. Or other B1G team alumni that don't have the capacity or demand for a team in this league. Northwestern? I don't have the exact solution, but there must be options for filling out the roster given the number of athletes that go through the college level.

For tying professionals to a team, that's just the league requirement. You have to be a former player from UM to play for the A2 Wolves (then you introduce roster need exceptions).

thrill ride

how much you wanna bet Harbaugh is terrifying that little girl by smashing into anyone that won't let him pass. she'll get over it...

mom

Was she the mom that had a huge Excel spreadsheet she's been using to evaluate different programs? I get recruits mixed up so could be wrong, but she won me over with the spreadsheets...

zone read

The one factor not in the post that rankles me is the use of Peppers on O. They were much more creative last year. He was barely used besides as zone-read QB, and that hadn't worked all of November. Such an obvious deployment and kind of Borges-like, reminding me of the OSU game where every time injured-Denard was in the game, he was at QB running the ball, and OSU just tee'd off. I was hoping they'd put Pep in motion like jet-sweep motion, and use him as more of a decoy. And the one play he was at RB as a decoy we got like 9 yards.

Anyway it was just really disappointing the coaches didn't find a better way to use one of their best weapons.

Petrino

can't stand that dude. i'm kind of hoping he's guilty so i can hate on him more.

flip planned

the punter flip was way too graceful for that to be improvised. 10.

offense choosing

is it the offenses though dictating those matchups? i mean are they adjusting to attack McCray on the edge? i would guess that's the opposing OC strategy and playcall (or checks) versus our DC planning for that result.

good questions

i'm curious about that too...

Comey

Yes, Speight missed some deep balls, the playcalling was very questionable at key moments, the refs made some bad calls, but I'm pretty sure this is James Comey's fault, that motherfucker.

not weird reason

I know this is supposed to be weird reasons, but I still have to proclaim my hatred for the rapist programs. The programs that conspire with the local justice officials, whether law enforcement or prosecuting attorneys, to suppress victims of sexual assualt in favor of the rapists:

1. Baylor

2. Tennessee

3. Penn State

Baylor and Tennessee should be ended because those towns don't deserve a program after what the whole justice system did. Penn State was all internal, but dude...

spies

they're just scouting out the north for an eventual visit by a real SEC team. yep.

exhelleration

change the "c" for "h" and you have excellent hella accelaration...

hella hella hella

i agree

this series, neck sharpies, and of course UFR really educate us on the game..

board

the board is testy today...

young 'un

I know it's probably just me getting older, but whoa does Keith Washington look young in that pic...

i finally understand

Thanks for this post Seth, I finally understand this concept...

Lamichael James and Chris Evans

I posted this on a dead thread before, but regarding JH potential use of Chris Evans, here's all of Lamichael James's snaps in 2012 under JH at SF: https://youtu.be/3dQ6_xF3HFw

You see him running out of that diamond formation we saw last year, some stretch (I think). He doesn't get as much play as Evans probably will, but anyway I wanted to post in case it gives some of you more technical guys insights on what JH might do with a smaller RB that doesn't fit what we think of as a JH RB.

good lord

so many of these in every presser are just pointless questions. "could you please confirm the thing i already want to write?" what do you even expect the players to say when you ask them the most generic possible question?

Talk about D-line depth...yeah we have good depth on the D line, breaking news.

Talk about competition...yeah competition is good for results.

i guess i don't read enough fluff mainstream newspaper articles to the point i just don't see the point in most of these press conferences besides when Adam asks a pointed tactical question. this one isn't even as bad as most.

i like that idea

i like that idea.

ditto ditto

i also agree, this is a cool idea for a post. looking forward to the next one.

the hyperlink is hard to see, so here it is https://youtu.be/3dQ6_xF3HFw

SF Lamichael James = UM Chris Evans?

The RB preview got me hyped on Chris Evans so I found this clip a couple days ago of all Lamichael James 2012 SF snaps (the Harbs vs Harbs Super Bowl year). He was that scatback out of Oregon and played under JH at SF a couple years. Anyways, I didn't have a ton of time to watch, but thought I'd post it as it might give some insight how JH will use Evans this year. They ran him out of that diamond formation we saw last year, some stretch (i think), but I didn't have time to watch the whole thing.

give to get

I think it's more bold and Harbaugh-like to suggest us doing two away years in a row again. It's not ideal in the short-term, but if we're looking for the change, we need to give up something. And plus, with the way Harbaugh is recruiting and coaching, why couldn't we win two away games in a row later on in 2019 or something. By then Harbaugh will be drawing all the in-state talent, putting together elite teams, and putting the balance back to what we want, winning more often against MSU than not. I mean we almost won last year and that was before Rudock turned into second-half of the season Rudock, and it was Harbaugh's first year.

I say let's have the stones to say bring it on, we'll beat you at home twice in row AND get the long-term schedule balance we want.

reach blocks as related to LT battle

How do you think this affects the Newsome vs. Bredeson battle? Does one have more agility than the other, and would that agility be useful enough in the scheme to win the job? Like, does the ability to reach block from the LT position give you that many more playcalling options that it could tip the battle, or is it less significant than that? I'm guessing less significant but I'm no expert.

From the few clips I thought Bredeson looked more agile than Newsome, but I haven't really seen Newsome lately either. Bredeson could kind of fight Gary though, which definitely takes agility. Curious what other people think?

favorite clip

that's one of my favorite clips of all time.

end of season

It'd be so anti-climatic if we win in Nov and a key reason is injuries. I prefer an epic game like 2006 - except you know - a better ending.

Thanks

These posts are some of the best. Thanks for the education!

Harbaugh in the light cage

I was worried when i saw the uniforms in Tron light cages, but now seeing the coach-khaki version, I'm convinced Harbaugh will be uploading himself into the internet so he can fight that mannequin image wearing his khakis.

Goodbye Harbaugh. Your star burned so bright...

Harbaugh vs Tron Light-Cage Deathmatch

After seeing these pics, I feel an instinctual urge to upload myself into my laptop, put on the uniform, and fight Tron in the face.

Maybe the unveiling will inspire Harbaugh to incorporate Tron disc wars in fall camp? Maybe Harbaugh will don a uniform and fight Tron in one of those light cages?

Although if he uploads himself, Harbaugh might be lose himself in an eternal battle against a digital copy of himself...which is 100% my prediction for how he dies...

Henry

I bet this puts us in a good spot to sign Henry Poggi.

Asiasi = TE = on field

Asiasi has college ready size and plays TE for Harbaugh. He's gonna be out there punching someone in the face when Wheatley gets tired of punching people in the face.

Norfleet

Give him all of Norfleet's reps!

whatevs

dude the bailey song/video is good, they can suck it. i was worried harbaugh was going to try to rap or something, but he's just doing his thing.

either way

That's a great line..

yep

goddamn right.

rat food

i walked into the office today, and was greeted by my douchebag manager, reminding me of status reports to do today. god i hate corporate life. the sanitzed offices, florescent lights, minimally interesting people. i'm looking out the window, longingly at the passing metro, and while i'm not suicidal, i'm thinking rather than doing these status reports i should donate my body to the rats living in the metro. just huck myself in front of a train. the tracks should mash me up pretty good, tenderizing the meat for the rats, seasoning me with track grease too.

that act would have an impact on the world, even if its just temporary nourishment for rats. these status reports? not so much...

yeah man

its definitely making rutgers more fun to have around, and more fun to vanquish on an annual basis.

Preach on

and let all those who blasphem against thee perish.

LBs

Between Uche and EMB, our LBs should be a force in a couple years. Then you add Gil, Bush, and the Paramus LB we're going after and damn...should be stout against the run and viciously attacking QBs...
