Validated Going 17th was at the high end of expectations. While I'd love to see him back at Crisler, the kid clearly made a wise choice.
A different "right away"

When I first glaced at the "Right Away" title, I thought for a moment that the post might be about the prospect of Alex Malzone starting "right away." Obviously it was actually on a different topic and I did enjoy the post, but here's a suggestion/request: given the possibility of a Malzone start at Utah, does history statistically tell us (from Michigan and the wider world of college football) about the performace of starting freshman QBs during their freshman year and what (if any) impact does starting in one's freshman year have upon the remainder of his career?

Pump the brakes

I totally agree with Brian/Ace/the entire mob ... this is a very bad idea. However, please don't mercilessly target this kid. For example ... #ExpelAdamWeiss ... C'mon. Everybody on this board, definitely including me, had at least as dumb of an idea that they acted upon when they were this kid's age. Furthermore, kudos to this kid for showing up and trying to do something positive for the university, however misguided his idea might be. By all means, tear down this dumb idea, but don't leave a scorched earth internet paper trail associated this kid's name that will follow him around forever.

Spike It's time to start him. He's playing better than Walton. He's a downgrade on defense, but his offense plus leadership results in a net upgrade. I know Walton is hurt, but I don't think all his mistakes can be chalked up to that. A wake up call via a lineup change could help. He would then hopefully work his way back into the starter role before the regular season is out.
DJ Wilson DJ Wilson seems set up to show some flashes this year and then be a breakout freak next year. That wingspan and reported athletic fluidity, when mixed with Beilein development magic, could produce the next lottery pick to follow Levert.
Pure and much needed joy ...

... reading this post. All hail Beilein. Can we come up with a salute for this?

Procedural Question Can the President, the Regents or either fire Brandon?
Hoke being misleading/disingenuous is not new The lack of the word "concussion" in this statement is pretty telling. It seems there are three questions with corresponding answers that should influence what happens next. I hope they get asked in the pressed tomorrow, even though it's doubtful we'll get answers.

1) Was Shane given a concussion test or tests?
2) If so, when?
3) What were the results?

When considering Hoke's future, we shouldn't limit consideration to the team's performance and this incident. The Gibbons incident might be at least as troubling. Hoke might be able to make plausible excuses about non-disclosure on that because of legal reasons, but there is no legitimate excuse for his "family matter" explanation, which was clearly disingenuous, insulting to the alleged victim, and communicated an unacceptable insensitivity to the scourge of college sexual assault.
