there's nothing plausible…

there's nothing plausible about this

In those games against OSU…

In those games against OSU and PSU, similar defenses to Iowa overall, Michigan had 24 points vs. PSU and 30 vs. OSU(aided by WJ's pick). So the offense put together 23 and 24 non defense aided points in those games. That'll be enough to beat Iowa but not much evidence there to make me think Michigan is gonna be able score a ton without defense and special teams

It's how this site has…

It's how this site has always done it, save for the first year Alex did it.

It goes way back to when Al Borges took over, and some remarks he made and Brian's response

Outside of that context, I can see how it would appear confusing. I was actually the one to point out to Alex what Seth meant in that section cause his first few articles just evaluated their style of play, much like you are asking. But I think that changing this section to reflect that would be redundant, cause there's already a couple sections where they do that like "Spread, Pro, or Hybrid" section, as well as the "Hurry Up or Grind it out" section.

Elon, he may have been worse…

Elon, he may have been worse than Mertz in 2022. But Iowa wishes the had QB play that good cause they were stuck with Spencer Petras.

He's not coming to be an…

He's not coming to be an obvious backup for at least another year

Wouldn't he hurt our…

Wouldn't he hurt our recruiting more than OSU's? Like we're about to steal like 4 dudes straight from Cinci. He could take the Rod Moore types that have been really good to us

I know Florida does it, or…

I know Florida does it, or did it. That was the first one I had ever heard

Feels like if he's trying to…

Feels like if he's trying to move up in the coaching ranks it would be to the NFL ala McDonald. Don't think he's wanting to be a CFB head coach and he's much too green for the NFL to give him a look yet.

I think I would flip the…

I think I would flip the ratings for WR and TE. Kind of a nitpick, but I don't see any AAs on the WR side, as good as they are, which I feel like is what a rating of 5 means. TE I do see that potential

Urban would never to go the…

Urban would never to go the SEC West, much less a school that plays second fiddle in the state to Alabama. He hates losing even one game and a rebuild at Auburn would have him pull the "medical issue" card after one season

that was 3 years ago, after…

that was 3 years ago, after all. A lifetime for a kid that age. And considering we're taking him in with his HS mentor into a strong culture, I get it.

Feels like that shouldn't be…

Feels like that shouldn't be a surprise though. Upshaw has 3.5 sacks, Harrell has 0, Macgregor has barely played and with the injuries he had it always seemed unlikely he'd live up to his recruit ranking. Even if we get decent play, if it's the weakness on a team that otherwise is playoff caliber, why not roll the dice on some upside if it could be the difference between 10-2 and 12-0?

What makes you think we are…

What makes you think we are slow playing Allen? He's basically the only realistic option we've offered and is planning an OV. That doesn't sound like a low on the board guy

Juwan would seem to disagree…

Juwan would seem to disagree that Jace was playable considering he only got non garbage time run in 4 games and 2 of them were games we were missing 2+ players.

Dot on 247 has been hinting…

Dot on 247 has been hinting that the Buzelis stuff is legit for a while now

Kobe Bufkin? Also our issues…

Kobe Bufkin? Also our issues on defense have very rarely been "our guards are too small".

I would say it's extremely…

I would say it's extremely arguable

Yeah, college football is…

Yeah, college football is only now fixated on money...

"Get both of those, and UM…

"Get both of those, and UM will play in the NC game at least twice while McCarthy remains at UM."

Say what now? Those are outlandishly loft expectations to put out there.

Impossibly early to be…

Impossibly early to be making that kind of evaluation

I don't get the comparison…

I don't get the comparison to Sparty at all. By all measures this UGA team is second to no one except maybe Bama in overall talent level. How has Michigan proven to be better than them all year? I don't get that. Every metric and Vegas sees UGA as a touchdown better right now. THat doesn't mean we can't or won't win, but I really think a lot of people are basically dismissing UGA because they lose one game against a team more talented than us with a gameplan we can not replicate.

Houstan, Barnes, Tschetter,…

Houstan, Barnes, Tschetter, Bufkin, Jett, all plus shooters that could be on the team next year. If Houstan comes back we'll be a much better shooting team next year than we are this year. If he doesn't come back then things look a little sketchy there.

should probably keep those…

should probably keep those thoughts to yourself then

Because when he was…

Because when he was evaluated it was 2 years ago and relative to the rest of that class. Makes some sense and is definitely easier for them this way

Yeah Mizzou managed to keep…

Yeah Mizzou managed to keep a couple highly touted local kids home. Not something they can bank on moving forward. But I wonder if NIL will help keep local HS stars around

Definitely not good news for…

Definitely not good news for other teams. He's solid when he's not totally battered by the shambles of an OL they have. And did you see what happened when he couldn't play? Gives Allar a year to learn and then take over as a sophomore with 0 drama

The legitimate books have it…

The legitimate books have it at 7.5 or 8

Nowhere has it said he's out…

Nowhere has it said he's out for the game. You seem to have made that up.

There's basically 0 chance…

There's basically 0 chance we score that many points without a defensive TD or two

I can pretty much guarantee…

I can pretty much guarantee you the line is not moving that much. And the fact that you said you've never bet on CFB in your life is probably a good reason to not trust what you just said

Except UGA has a more than…

Except UGA has a more than competent offense compared to Iowa's travesty and their defense is even better than Iowa's

Except UGA has a more than…

Except UGA has a more than competent offense compared to Iowa's travesty and their defense is even better than Iowa's

I don't think that's the…

I don't think that's the presumption, no. There's not a clear leader but Michigan's up there with as good of a shot as anyone. Making a CFP run can't hurt either.

Can't just use Tom Brady as…

Can't just use Tom Brady as an example for why every underrated college QB will make it in the NFL. Tom Brady was the exception, not the rule. Also Tom Brady is not small and has a pretty strong arm.

If he doesn't win the…

If he doesn't win the starting job in 2022, then yeah it's probably ok to be afraid of. Cade has no NFL upside so he could be around awhile, he technically is a RS Frosh I believe due to COVID. Maybe JJ sticks around for the whole 2022 season and the following spring ball, but that'd make him a unicorn in the 5* QB world

Now if Cade does beat him out and prove to be legitimately very good and JJ transfers, it might not even be a huge deal. Let's say Cade starts 2 more years, which allows Dante Moore to start as a sophomore with CJ Carr right behind him. That would still be a pretty stacked QB room. Will be interesting to follow the competition next year.

I'm seeing 8.5 as the Vegas…

I'm seeing 8.5 as the Vegas Insider consensus. If the line ever dropped it went right back up real quick.

Bookmakers have liked us in…

Bookmakers have liked us in this game other times in recent history, and not we didn't cover or even win any of them.

Some of your conclussions…

Some of your conclussions don't quite matchup up with issues you were saying the team had that they would no longer have.

You are right that offense was the bigger issue after Livers went down... But a lot of that was Johns refusal to shoot 3s, and a bad game by Franz against UCLA. PF will have a big drop in shooting this year if Johns, WIlliams, and Diabate take all the minutes there.

Then there's going from Smith, a great shooter, to Jones, a hopefully mediocre shooter than has potential to be worse than that.

I don't think those 2 downgrades will allow Hunter for more space just because Houstan can shoot.

I thought the basketball on…

I thought the basketball on grass vs. MANBALL section was supposed to be zone vs. man run blocking schemes? That's how I thought I remembered Seth using it for when he did FFFF but I could be wrong

He can but considering the…

He can but considering the life of the average RB at the next level he probably should not

I will definitely bet the…

I will definitely bet the under on 1.5 50+ yard touchdown passes. If they get 2 of those they will win for sure, and likely easily.

We are missing our WR1 but…

We are missing our WR1 but year they're very... meh. CJ would be fine as a WR2. And everyone else would fit nicely from there, but WR is a very concerning spot moving forward. Andrel Anthony pretty much has to hit.

Watson was not a super…

Watson was not a super athletic guy. As for most of the others, JJ is not anywhere near them athletically. Like mentioning VY, Vick, or Newton is just pointless re: JJ because he's not on that level.

He is definitely expected to…

He is definitely expected to. Every mock I've seen has him in the top 10

Bufkin is definitely a…

Bufkin is definitely a superior prospect imo, but I'm very high on Bufkin. He's much more dynamic on ball than Jett although Jett has been improving.

You actually think this is…

You actually think this is the best CFB ranking? Please tell me that was a joke. This is nothing more than a fun thing to track but it's absolutely not a legitimate ranking system.

He's listed as a 2nd round…

He's listed as a 2nd round pick by one person. And second round picks are rarely All Americans. Being mocked in the second round does not mean you could be an All American.

You think Devante Jones has…

You think Devante Jones has All American potential?

He is definitely not a PF…

He is definitely not a PF. hey could take him if they want but I'd rather get a transfer C to pair with Reed than just have two freshman Cs on our team.

CB looks good. Will Johnson…

CB looks good. Will Johnson is obviously the gem of the class. Then I believe Kody Jones is ticketed for CB as well. Domani would obviously be a boon. Pollard is solid and likely future commit/current ND commit Amorion Walker could play WR or CB.

DL is coming together. Mason Graham just committed and he seems like he'll be a solid contributor. He's tearing up his HS league right now and will rise in the rankings. Kenneth Grant and Deone Walker are two potential NTs that both are assumed to end up in the class. Mario Eugenio is a commit and he looks good. Walter Nolen is the prize of course but unlikely.

Most RBs are committed so if something happens there it's no known right now. Considering we have Edwards and Corum with lots of eligibility its not a huge need in this class.

Ultimately the 2023 class will be more affected by the current results.
