I think it is clear that Shea could absolutley benefit from another year under Harbaugh. Especially with (knock on wood) a full arsenal of healthy receivers to utilize. I get that this year's QB class is weak, but at this point it doesnt seem like Shea is a lock to go either of the first two rounds, so hopefully he decides on another year of refinement slash continuation of revenge tour.
Yes the play calling is not great but Shea is making big mistakes. Misread on that read option that could have been a td, and not throwing to DPJ in the end zone instead taking a sack
I don’t really understand the complaining about the play calling here. Our drives have been looking good except when Shea tries to do too much and ends up stalling us on long third downs. Wisco plugging up the running lanes and I’m happy that we aren’t trying to force it too much on the run
Just means bettors are optimistic their money lies best with a UM team at home at night against what has been a slightly underwhelming Wisco team. I don’t blame them, this is a game we absolutely should use to send a message heading into eye of BIG play.
They acquired Carlos Hyde in free agency so I doubt that signals they are after Barkley. If they are smart they draft whatever qb they like with the first pick, then trade their fourth pick to whatever team is chomping at the bit to get the fourth best quarterback, still getting a good defensive player later in the first (maybe minkah fitz) plus reaping the value of whatever else they gained from the trade.
Knows we are fucked if we don’t hit on a qb next year. With no speight you have an unproven peters and an even more unproven mccaffrey. Let’s not lie peters didn’t light the world on fire. In his few games And harbaugh clearly has reservations if it took him so long to give him the nod over okorn. Why not take Patterson if you have the opportunity. If peters beats him out then great
How JOKs failure to make wide open plays falls on harbaugh.
People saying “why is harbaugh expected jok to make nfl throws”....nfl throws?? They are just throws! That are open! I mean what is the point of even having a qb if you aren’t asking him to make throws
It’s a fair point that harbaugh should be expected to have a better qb at this point, and why jok is our only option is baffling. I’m just talking about the specific game plan for today to set John o Korn up for success. Unfortunately JOK has revealed himself to be the literal worst qb Michigan was ever fielded
Was elite this game. The loss falls SQUARELY on okorn. That fourth down call was WIDE OPEN. As was the first play where JOK inexplicably sails it into he heavens instead of hitting his 6’7 tight end streaking down the middle. Not to mention how hard it is to get in an offensive flow when your qb continually wastes plays fumbling the damn snap.
Our defensive game plan was fine, and other then some third down conversions we should have stopped (it happens, especially against a good offense) we played more then well enough to win. Don brown did not drop the interception, that’s on the players to execute, and people calling for browns head are still high on turkey.
We need a goddamn qb. That’s literally it. Any competent qb to make a few wide open throws and we win. The oline was moving people all over the place and cole played out of his mind, as did Evans
Can you expect a defense to continually shutting it down when nobody in the goddamn stadium has any confidence in their qb? Especially after he tosses up an egg to literally nobody on the first play of what should have been an inspired, game winning drive. That first Haskins third down throw was perfect coverage but an absolute dime. Sure there were a few third downs we should have stopped but by and large we played solid against a great offense, but JOK sucked the life out of them and everyone else on the team.
Is there a big leap forward next year? I am not optimistic, and it bums me to think that realistically we will have to wait till 2019 when things theoretically all fall into place. Our defense will continue to be lights out but how much do we expect the offense to grow? We will either be back where we were with a rusty speight, or still developing peters. I’ve got to think the receivers will be better with year two of dpj and a healthy black, Nico in the mix....but will the oline have any sort of improvement? Especially without cole?
