Did the rewatch myself today - wonderful. Won’t be the last…still have 2021 and 2022 saved. Great thread - agree on CJ. That crazy pass and catch around the 50 to create 3rd and 1 on the last drive was HUGE.
Really appreciated the play calling as well the second time around beyond the 2nd to last drive from the 20. Thought they were too conservative there when touchdown was really needed. Absent that, hats off to SM. Awesome stuff and a really nice mix of plays. Orji, HB pass, TE delay…some good stuff executed really well by JJ. And JJ adding 4-5 great plays to extend plays and keep drives going.
Yes, all of these lake towns are great and I’d plug ours South Haven. That said, we had many awesome trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes with our kids and their cousins. They always loved it.
I was curious and just perused some old stats - there were years (2013 team one of them) where Beilein’s teams averaged 22 points on 3’s per game. That is what we average now. Beilein’s best offenses scored efficiently from 2 because of shooters and floor spacing.
Pace and not taking as many shots late in the clock are the big difference in my mind.
We are averaging 6 more possessions per game under Juwan. I think this makes us feel better about the offense now - there aren’t the throw it around the perimeter moments with a late shot that created indigestion.
That said this team’s efficiency is around the same number as some of Beilein’s best. We’ll see how it progresses against better competition.
Really? Could you provide some examples of that?
I posted our record against MSU and OSU above. Wisconsin would be our Achilles heel, but they have had the most success in the Big ten the last few years.
Since 2010, who else has consistently out-coached and out-talented us? I think I can safely say we have been the best team in the Big Ten at the end of the season 3 of the last 7 years.
Beilein: 2 Big Ten titles, 1 final four, 1 elite eight, 7-7 vs MSU, 5-7 vs OSU
Izzo: 1 Big Ten title, 1 final four, 1 elite eight
Matta: 2 Big Ten Titles, 1 final four, 1 elite eight
I chose 2010 simply to give Beilein a couple of years - Matta and Izzo well established at that point.
Obviously both Izzo and Matta good records in the years before.
I think he has done just fine against his rivals. He is tinkering and the young kids will start to play and this team will improve.
Do you remember DJ Wilson? What was he doing in 2016? Didn’t play at all...now in NBA. Huh. Let’s look through the long list of NBA players beilein has developed, look at the large pool of guys he has to work with(Poole, livers, teske, simpson, Davis, brooks, etc.) and then realize we have 2 NBA players on the roster. Take a breath and let things unfold for awhile. Geez.
As well. THere is a write up on UM hoops now too. Have heard whispers that Eli Brooks has been a nice surprise and agreed. He came in for the 2nd team and had some great takes - one right past Mathews - and hit a three. Beilein made a comment on his mike about how well brooks shoots. Indicative of how deep this team could be - the 2nd team tied the starters even soaking up a couple walk-on minutes. Only 20 minute game....but it’s evident they have a lot of guys who can play. All will make some mistakes, but athletically they look strong.
I too was impressed with Livers - just looked like he fit in, even if all his shots didn’t drop. Was aggressive with the ball. THere has been a lot of buzz about Matthews, so not gonna read much into the 20 minutes, but he did look like he was trying to fit in.
Unfortunately on the point guard front, Z did a lot of nice things but the jumper doesn’t appear to have changed. Jaaron appears to have a bit of a hitch in his shot as well. It would seem we need a blending of all three - Brooks, Simmons and Z - to get our Trey Burke....
Looking forward to it. Really great to see 12 guys that can play.....been awhile since Beilein has had some depth. Hopefully we have some guys emerge enough to help MO and push this team into some really good things.
Has to ref the games....I have no idea what their pool is like to pull refs from, but I would imagine there is a fair amount of job security. What a thankless job. My guess is they are constantly looking......
Past indicated he should have taken off in the 2nd half of the year? He had playing experience....just not with Jim Harbaugh. Unbelievable that you wouldn’t give Harbaugh some credit for molding him and putting him in a place to succeed.
Is to root for the Yankees, I have to agree with you. JV hasn’t had much luck with the tribe. But....it’s the ALDS. That could be all JV needs to shut them down.
Felt they should have provided a better replay. Fox just ran with great play and never took the time to consider that he might have gotten there early.
Jack and coke hard tonight because I have to root for ND with my neighbor. Those unis- ugh. Anyway I think we hit a wall tomorrow too- hope not, but those guys have to be exhausted. 70-62 bad guys.
Regardless, but getting off the 8/9 line was huge. However, I think we get tripped up tomorrow. Long week and Wisconsin seems to have their shit together again.
My seats are level with the cameras. Be honest I don't mind how far up they are because of center court view. But yeah lot of money and food meh. Given the lack of enthusiasm this year StubHub for lower level seats way to go.

Spike being one of those that worked out quite nicely.

Mama’s Fish House on Maui. Fantastic meal start to finish.
Catan has been excellent as well for our family. Cribbage is the preferred card game since the kids won’t buy into Euchre.
Hell yeah he’s coming out.
Danny, how’d you like to come over and mow my lawn?
I second that!
Yes no worries of that last year when we played with quarterback number 2 and our guys out this year.
Decoy....
Yes sir!!!
