Our offense needs to become…

Our offense needs to become more dynamic, I agree with this narrative. However, I think the fanbase as a whole has kind of forgotten how terrible our OT situation was/is which necesarilly generated a lot of the 2/3 route plays with max protect schemes that depended so much on 1v1 victories rather than multiple route combinations/downfield targets, pick plays etc.. A lot of this was masked by max protect concepts with an inline TE who is in there to help the tackles and a RB who is solely there for pass protection. In a certain sense our tackles have prevented our offense from becoming more dynamic. If our tackles get better our offense gets better, things will open up.

I don't care if this Alabama…

I don't care if this Alabama team is the best team in the history of college/professional football. Is they lose to Georgia and we win out there is no way in hell that we get left out. The committee has said in past years that they value conference championships a great deal as well as overall trend (meaning a loss at the tail end of the season << a loss in week 1 on the road against a top 3 team). If this scenario does play out and Michigan gets left out of the CFP then burn the system to the ground.

Would the committee put a 1…

Would the committee put a 1 loss Alabama (non conference champion)  over a 1 loss B1G Champion Michigan? Both with losses on the road to top 3 teams. Not to be a homer but to me this is a no brainer.

If the committee cares about such metrics as SOS, conference championship, and overall trend (loss in week 1 vs. loss in week 10) then Michigan has the edge. If they are going based on the proverbial "eye test" then Alabama might be favored.

All this is interesting, although the only thing that matters right now is Penn State.

Dont shit where you eat...

Dont shit where you eat... never bet on a Michigan game myself

Moneyline on the Wildcats is a lock though... Kansas does not match up well with 'Nova IMO. Heck, nobody matches well with 'Nova

We gave them McGuffie they give us Anderson

Goddamit why is it so hard

Goddamit why is it so hard for Michigan to recruit high caliber players? It seems to be so easy for all the other top notch programs (i.e. Ohio State, Alabama, USC, Georgia)...recruiting is so perplexing at times.

I remember seeing his 2018

I remember seeing his 2018 mock draft and he had Tyrone Wheatley Jr. as a first round pick coming out this year. No disrespect to WheatleyJr., hes a good TE and I believe he has not reached his cieling but yeah... this Walter dude is not the best at mock drafts.

Jedd Fisch?
Is he staying in

Jedd Fisch?
Is he staying in UCLA under Chip Kelly?
Could he come back as OC? Some of the players would have familiarity with his style/playbook.

I believe it was not burned.

I believe it was not burned. In fact, I think he didnt see a single snap for the entire season. Pretty sure he was injured coming out of fall camp.

Has anybody noticed a sort

Has anybody noticed a sort of  "Tate Forcier syndrome" where he breaks the pocket on almost every play when he feels any type of pressure and kind of rolls out? From what I've seen (granted, its limited footage and short freshman season highlight videos) he seems to break the pocket with unnerving frequency instead of stepping up and following his reads... Anyone catch that?

I mean seriously, how hard is it to gain 15-20 pounds in Ann arbor in 1 year? It was easy for me!!! Zingerman's, Pizza House, China Gate, No Thai, Cottage Inn, Zas (still around?), Blimpy Burger... God, I wish I were in college again...

I dont buy that "keeping a

I dont buy that "keeping a few tricks up our sleeves" bit. I wouldn't think the coaches would say to themselves "Hey, we are winning by 3 points against Air Force lets keep our offense vanilla and ride it out." Too risky of a thing to do. I would lean more towards the "our offense is just not that good" camp. Offensive line in particular, veeeeery shaky in both run-block & pass-block against a far inferior team, at least physical-wise.

Copied from Dylan Burkhardt

Copied from Dylan Burkhardt over a umhoops.com:

A two-way contract allows players to split time between a team’s NBA roster and its NBA G-League roster throughout the season.

These contracts essentially extend the NBA roster to a 16th adn 17th NBA spot and allow a player to spend up to 45 days with the NBA team that signs him, the rest of the time must be spent in the G-League. Players are paid a salary of $75,000 while in the G-League — far greater than the $26,000 allotted for a one-way G-League deal — and a salary consistent with the NBA rookie minimum of $816,000 while on the big league roster. That means that a player on a two-way contract would make around $204,000 if they spend the full 45 days in the NBA ($279,000 in total while spending the maximum of 45 days in the NBA).

I would have been happier

I would have been happier with a 10 point loss to Alabama in the 1v4 game than a 30 point win against a 9-3 team.

I think this is a very valid

I think this is a very valid point. The "potential" Hogan transfer would be huge in terms of instant impact but even more so in order to allow Shane to get that extra year under his belt with JH and have 2 years of eligibility left. Is this something that has been done before? RS a player in his 3rd year with a program for non-medical reasons?

Hypothetical situation

If we do get Hogan could Morris be in line for a RS? I think he would have greatly benefited from a redshirt during his freshman season... One next season might be even better for him under JH and the rest of the coaching staff.

Seems like a great kid! Any

Seems like a great kid! Any idea why he's hardly gained any weight since he got here? Is it a non issue at his current weight and position? He seems a bit undersized to me.. Maybe the strength staff doesn't want to jeopardize his speed and pursuit ability by adding too much to his frame?

This.

This.

I've seen a lot of Bennett

I've seen a lot of Bennett this year and I'm not convinced he can play the 3, especially defensively. I dont think he's quick enough to guard some of the very athletic 3's... he's more of a 3/4 hybrid to me who plays a little bit like a 3 offensively because he has the ability to shoot from outside but defensively he's more of a 4 just cause he's so thick/stocky and has the frame of a PF... I kind of see him as a more athletic (WAYYY more athletic) version of Draymond Green. I think Burke fits best with the pistons because one of his major strenghts is the ability to read the pick and roll which is going to be an essential part of the Pistons gameplan/future with the two studs down low. You add two shooters to the Burke, Monroe, Drummond lineup and this would be a VERY competitive team in the near future. I vote Burke over Bennett any day...

Would you do UWorld twice or

Would you do UWorld twice or Uworld + some other Qbank?

Since we're talking

Since we're talking medicine...Anyone taking Step 1 in the near future or anyone that has taken it already and would like to share suggestions is more than welcome to do so :)

Have you taken a look at

Have you taken a look at Orlando's roster? Pistons have a world of talent compared to the likes of Orlando, Sacramento, and Pelicans. Drummond is going to be an absolute monster... If they do draft Burke I think they'd be one or two pieces away from seriously contending (say a good wing who can stretch the floor)

I like to get under their

I like to get under their skin a little bit, especially if its someone who likes to boast after they beat us. Something I found makes them go crazy is to shower them with unmerited praise. Something like this... "Hey, don't be too frustrated about that loss I think they played one of their best games of the season." "I really think Appling had one of his better games of the season, he's really improved his dribble." "At least you know that your team can take care of the ball in clutch situations." etc. etc.

The trick is doing it with a straight face and an ever so slight sarcastic tone. Enjoy!

As a current medical student and avid MGoBlog reader since 2007 (freshman year), I never imagined a day where Frank Netter would be featured in a mgoblog post... This means reading mgoblog is no longer considered procrastinating... WIN

Great season! Thank you Zack

Great season! Thank you Zack and Stu!

When its all said and done it

When its all said and done it was these two kids who led the way in the process of: "bringing Michigan back". It wasn't Manny Harris, Courtney Sims, nor Deshawn Sims it was Zack Novak and Stu Douglass... They will be sorely missed next year not only for their 3-pt shooting but for their great defending (incredible at taking charges) and most of all their leadership... I know we have a great class coming in but they have HUGE shoes to fill if we want to maintain this level of competitiveness

Beilein is going nowhere! He is going to retire here as long as he keeps this pace... I would be more worried about losing Bacari Alexander... This guy has future "stud Head Coach" written ALL OVER HIM. He is an TREMENDOUS recruiter and a guy with a lot of enthusiasm and genuine love for the game... I hope we can keep him in the staff until John B. decides to hang it up although I think its highly doubtful this will happen.
