Scott Bell was knocked off twitter for maintaining 2 accounts, one of which must have been flagged/reported for "trolling" enough. Twitter is supposedly "cracking down" on fake or troll accounts and the most common method for identifying these is by cross referencing IP or registered user data like device id's or e-mail accounts. He has a well established and verified account and then he has his UM fan/opponent trashing account. The UM fan/opponent trashing account must have exceeded the # of reports for trolling. He is hilarious and Twitter is a hot mess.
THIS^. Tony Jones Jr. is apparently a diamond in the rough, they're 6'5" and 6'4" receivers are demi-gods, the TE group in South Bend is apparently deeper than it has ever been. They're defense is the best it has ever been (ever) and will not experience any drop off after losing their DC because they hired from within. Brandon Wimbush is better than Shea Patterson by a long shot and their offensive line will be stout because they recruit athletes with high ceilings.
They're some logical fans who see this as a tough game at best, but man I wish I could count the times I've heard the stuff above uttered by some ND fans.
The problem I have with the statement is that it also implies Michigan cannot beat a mid-tier team, only cupcakes. Michigan did not play a mid-tier team in 2017 and thus cannot prove or disprove that statement. The statistic of W/L isn't telling in this case. I disagree with the statement that UM could only beat cupakes last year. The correct statement would be that UM only beat cupcakes last year.
ND fans, on that particular thread, seam to be searching for confidence by identifying the ineptitudes of UM rather than the locating the strengths of ND. I believe this more commonly happens with fans who look for statistics which generate vague implications instead of ones that prove specific statements, e.g., average rushing yards vs. top 25 rush defenses.
I took the liberty of checking out the Rivals ND Forum the other day and picked up on a couple other delusional ideas that some fans have.
-Dexter Williams (although most likely suspended) is head and shoulders above Karan Higdon. Tony Jones Jr. is at least equal to Higdon. {FYI Higdon almost doubled Williams career yards in last year alone, with a terrible line. Tony Jones has 200 career yards.}
-The returning ND OL is under the radar because they had a couple high profile guys taking all the attention last year.
-Michigan has unathletic OL and the coaches are too dumb to figure this out. That's why they will always be bad.
-Michigan is not relevalant and can only beat cupcakes.
-Shea is just plain bad, Wimbush is better by a large margin and will be the difference in the game.
-ND TE & WR are much better than UM's.
-ND has the slight edge at DB.
It took all I had to read these posts, but I guess it is just a forum...
Ian Book would take the starting role before the freshman. The "Insider" speculation is that ND's personnel -across the board- is dictating an approach that includes using the quarterback as run threat fairly often. Wimbush is the best fit for Kelly's 2018 scheme, thus he has the advantage as of now. Book is more pro-style and is a more accurate passer, but doesn't fit the 2018 offensive scheme as well.
Brian Kelly has to coach a ND team that lacks WR/TE depth and experience and he lost the anchors of his O-line. His starting RB surprise declared an early entry in the draft and his replacement RB screwed up one way or another this off season.
There won't be an official word until game day/week (if ever), but the "insiders" firmly believe he's out 4 games. Depending on the nature of the suspension, ND sometimes enables a student privacy protocol and doesn't disclose any information -including the length of the suspension.
Why do I have 0 points? Ever since the new site launched my points went down to 0. Maybe I missed something? I didn't have very many points before (I'm not all that active in the comment section) so it's not all that important, but I'm curious nonetheless.
Your right about the fact that this is blown out of proportion. Typical college sports media doing typical college sports media things. I'm glad other people can see through the BS.
However, Alabama's titles that are questionable are coming from an era where there isn't a universal, confirmed idea of what the National Championship game is. There was a good idea of what is was every year, but there wasn't a done deal, this is deinitely it every year. There is a clear cut NC game now and nobody debates it except for Frost/UCF. IMO on a scale of 1-10 for "your not even close to national champions", UCF is 9 and Alabama's "titles" are a 6/7.
Don't get me wrong though. Frost's antics are only furthering the idea that the playoff needs to be expanded and I'm all for 6-8 team playoffs.
He started hot but teams figured him out. He's a solid scrambler but if you contain him and force him to make tough throws you win. He scratches and claws to get to a 50% completion rate and has a tendency to bolt if the pocket is collapsing. He finished the season on the bench.
If you watch that video closely, you'll see the DB's for ND are ..... not good. They give a 8-10 yard cushion on a lot of those plays and the completed deep balls usually star a DB who has no idea where the ball is. IMO there is some reason for optimism. It seems like our defense is made to shut down QB's like Wimbush, but overconfidence has not looked good on the maize and blue as of lately.
Both teams were trying to draw offensive fouls all game. Texas A&M's attempts were beyond acting. The one when Z cut off the A&M player was flat out rediculous. The refs did good by ignoring them for the most part. I think thats why the Matthews foul stands out.... they actually blew the whistle even if they shouldn't have.
Maybe, but he did throw back to back pick sixes in the Florida game and salvaged that one fairly well. I guess we'll never know truly what Speight's ceiling was. It will be debated on this board for years to come.
Don't forget about David DeJulius and Brandon Johns. DeJulius has Beilein's next star written all over him and Brandon Johns is an athletic guy who can shoot. Michigan should be sitting pretty for a while.
Fire him? Yup problably should. He's in a leadership role. Is he a loser though? Maybe he's struggling with a substance abuse issue and needs help. Alcoholism is a biologically explained disease. Maybe try to be a little bit considerate before you call a stranger names.
Also a possibility is that he claimed he was not drunk and that the PBT was inaccurate. A surprising amount of people claim that they had just used mouthwash or that they have some sort of medical condition that causes a false positive on breathalizer. Especially for morning/early afternoon DWI's.
I will never understand why people refuse a breathalyzer. It almost always results in the arresting officer getting a warrant for blood draw and the same result as a PBT. Except the Secretary of State hates when you refuse the PBT.
This is true. I don't understand how many fans cannot see that O-line play and QB play go hand in hand. How is an unexperienced and timid QB supposed to develop into a star when he's constantly worried about getting smashed? How is he supposed to develop poise and timing when he has no clue as to when he can safely get a throw off? Not even to mention the fact that our QB's didn't have much (if any) chemistry with our WR's yet. QB play was not the biggest issue last year. Fix the O-line and QB play will follow. My take? Even though Peters doesn't look like the next Tom Brady he would have likely been serviceable with a solid O-line. Alright, rant over.
Your right about their offense. They return a solid QB but are taking heavy losses at OL, RB, and WR not to mention losing a stellar TE and their OL coach. I go to at least one ND game a year (don't ask why) and their stadium atmosphere is leaps and bounds below what you see at a typical UM game.
On the other hand UM returns practically everybody. I say the matchup favors us. Especially for an early on game.
IMO it doesn't matter why he left Ole Miss. At the very least he brings:
The ablity to extend plays
An accurate deep ball while flushed from the pocket
The ability to run a RPO/Read option play or two that JH seemed to like about Philly and/or ran in San Fransisco.
Not to mention he's used to having a line that can't pass protect very well. I think there is at least a cause for some light optimism don't you? Perhaps strongest case for Patterson not improving UM would be the fact that he ran a much, much different offense at Ole Miss than he'll be tasked at UM.

After re-watching those videos, I genuinely wonder how many completions he should have had but the receiver dropped because their hands were numb.
Whenever they talk about Ambrey it's all about his speed. He could easily step into the McDoom reverse action, and I think that he will.

You clearly did not study Psychology in college.

With David DeJulius backing him up. We are going to have a great team for the forseeable future. I'm pumped just thinking about it!

Ahhh. Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah the good ol' Datamaster. That makes more sense.

You'd be surprised. I'd wager 50% or more of OWI's get pulled over for dumb stuff like a headlight/brakelight out or rolling a stop sign.

Wait a second. What about our new DE Julius Welschof?
If he pans out I will thoroughly enjoy screaming "Juuuuliuuuuus" after each sack.

I believe that's the most indicative statistic for good safety play. They should have problably made that a statistic already.
It's not just Deon. Mike Mayock apparently has no filter either.
WTF? Bubble Butt?
BTW I don't really care that Deon said what he did. If anything it problably helps break the sterotype (white guys are slow) in the first place.
Nebraska is shooting like trash
The only reason UM isn't up by more is the fact that their nailing there free throws.
Let's go D!
0-7? I would appreciate the law of averages kicking in any time now.
Double Double for Wagner!
Team Stats at the Break:
Michigan
Nebraska
Wagner just a few rebounds away from a double double in the first half. LETS GO!
Try this one. It's working fairly well for me today.
Another 3 Ball! Let's go!
Did anyone watch the other B1G games yesterday? I was wondering if we were the only game that had whistle happy refs.
via GIPHY
Let's Go! D-Rob!
Can we get angry Duncan to check in?
This should be an interesting 5 minutes....
Great start to the second half!
They're shooting 5/9 from 3 and we're shooting 0/7, yet their only up 5 lol. I don't see this trend continuing into the second half.

I genuinely dare you to convince me that Michigan loses to Maryland at home this year.
