Listened this morning. It seems to me that they are VERY excited about the potential of this offense. They are effusive about the pieces that are in place (more so than usual leading up to the opening game).
Michigan is the presumed favorite in the Big Ten by many media outlets. BTN has a vested interest in making the Big Ten East as appealing to mass audiences as possible. They don't need to hype up Michigan this year for people to have high expectations. MSU needs a little polishing after the couch fire that was their last season.
I am at the point where I am ready to consume anything regarding Michigan Football intel, even if it means watching Gerry Dinardo try to offer some unique insight for a team after watching them practice for one day.
I think if we are strictly looking at his years at UofM, then yes they definitely have. However, if we look over his career, his defenses tended to perform at a high level even against teams with superior talent.
For example, his BC defenses would absolutely destroy the offenses of Florida State.
To be honest I’m not quite sure what has changed. I don’t know why the struggles are presenting themselves now versus earlier in his career. I totally agree something needs to change in regards to how they perform Thanksgiving weekend.
I can see that reasoning. Alternatively, he was in talks for at least one HC position after last season. My thought is that if we make it to the Playoff, that may erase some of the (misleading) narrative about his D struggling against teams with highest levels of talent.
Probably won't happen and I definitely see your point about his age. However, I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility.
