Could someone please explain…

Could someone please explain the point of the proposed two minute warning in college football?  When the rule was established for the pro's, the official time was kept by a referee with a stopwatch and this gave both teams a notice as to the official time remaining.

I've  been an election…

I've  been an election worker and precinct chair for about 15 years.  Thankless but often fun.  Many jurisdictions need help.  Volunteer.

A problem on too many…

A problem on too many campuses.  Is this a result of athletes feeling privileged for all of their lives and not held to standards expected of all students?  This kind of behavior has been acceptable for far too long.

Why on earth would he want…

Why on earth would he want to coach the Bears?  He would just become another former coach in 3 years because that is what they do.

So what was Portnoy's…

So what was Portnoy's Complaint?

So what would happen if…

So what would happen if officials decided to call games as the rules stipulate?  Would that ruin the game or would coaches and players eventually learn to adapt and not brutalize opponents, take 4 or 5 steps before shooting, or violate other rules?

I am not sure if I would ever want to officiate a high school basketball game.  Coaches and fans are brutal.  I worked the scorer's table for 40 years as a time keeper and found the over all deportment at games has deteriorated significantly.  Good refs will eventually be run off the floor.

Not particularly sure why…

Not particularly sure why anyone would want to be the head coach of the Bears.  Chicago is a very difficult town in which to satisfy anyone.  Fans and media are critical and unappreciative.

Hey . . .  let's call the…

Hey . . .  let's call the whole thing off.

If I had a license plate…

If I had a license plate frame on my car that stated I was a Michigan Alumni, would that mean that there was more than one of me and I  had become plural?

So the winning team could be…

So the winning team could be playing an extra four games?  Would a 16 game schedule be too  much for the body to handle?  Are we willing to risk someone else's body to that level for our own edification and entertainment?

Regarding the Spartan angst…

Regarding the Spartan angst about not playing in a New Year's Day bowl game:  neither is Michigan.

Isn't this the guy everyone…

Isn't this the guy everyone wanted to fire last season?

In reading her comments…

In reading the comments posted, one would think that Michigan lost the game.  Can't we enjoy our victories?

Terrible play calling on…

Terrible play calling on that drive.  Michigan only scored seven points!

Be careful what you wish for.

Be careful what you wish for.

Can we go back to wearing…

Can we go back to wearing those road uni's?

In looking at the comments…

In looking at the comments on this thread it already sounds like Michigan lost to both Wisconsin and Nebraska.  I didn't know these games have already been played.  So much for optimism.

I am just trying to enjoy…

I am just trying to enjoy the fact that the team is 4 - 0.  Can't we just enjoy our success before we look for the dark skies?

Way too many points.  Lots…

Way too many points.  Lots of strange things can happen when the spread is that wide.

What is the point of calling…

What is the point of calling it a "conference" when you only play all of the teams in the opposite division only once in 7 or 8 years?  It is already bad enough in our conference with scheduling as it is.

Please explain to me why the…

Please explain to me why the football players should be paid more than the students who work the dish machine in their dorm cafeteria or the student who checks out books in the library.  Without them, those football players would not be able to perform.

If these football players want to be paid "professional" salaries, the NFL should set up a minor league system to accommodate them?  Why should the colleges be running a free minor league system for the NFL who benefits from this system without incurring any expense.

Priorities and values seem pretty skewed.

College football as we know…

College football as we know it h as ended.  If the NFL wants a minor league, it should finance one.  Colleges have no obligation to provide free training to players who are not really interested in an education and just want to play football.  Scholarships should be given to athletes who also want an education.

So why would someone who is…

So why would someone who is 68 years old want to rejoin the grind of big time basketball?  Someone will need to explain this to me.

Anyone who has had to face…

Anyone who has had to face cancer in their life or in the lives of family members know only one thing for sure: cancer sucks.  This disease will leave supporting family frustrated, angry and often in tears.  Little can be done for the victim.  Prayer can help.  Support systems can help.  Trying to understand the consequences on the surviving victims can help.

Why would he want to return…

Why would he want to return to the grind of college basketball as a head coach?  If he wants to return, why would he have left Michigan?  He made a lot of money coaching Cleveland and can now retire.  I am five years older than he is and at my age, I would not want to take on the grind of creating a new program at a new school when I can teach a class, travel, spend time with my family, and reap the rewards of a good life lived.

Is the game already over?  I…

Is the game already over?  I thought it just started?

I have been perplexed by…

I have been perplexed by many comments regarding the football game on Saturday. I am saddened by so many people who seem angered by Michigan's loss to Penn State and have taken it so personally. What this suggests to me is that people who take the efforts of 19-25 year old college students so personally while having no real skin in the game, themselves, really need to get a life. How can you make such cheap shot comments about college students that you do not know really says more about you than the players or the university.

I would love to hear James…

I would love to hear James Earl Jones do at least a part of a game.  Now THAT would be awesome.

A Huge Commit?

A "huge" commit?  Does this mean Bill Simonson is coming to Michigan?????

Didn't Vitale Want Him?

This guy must be pretty old and versatile.  I remember when Dick Vitale wanted Bob McAdoo to play for the Pistons when he was head coach.  I didn't know he was knowledgable about football, too.

Research Needed

The only thing that preseason ratings do is provide entertainment prior to the start of the season.  How many times have the preseason ratings from ANY news service come close to accurately predicting the final poll?  Can anyone find any information on this, please?

Why would Mel?

Why would Mel Pearson want to leave Michigan Tech?

2012 and I am sure I did.

2012 and I am sure I did.  The Michigan biase was clearly apparent in my classroom decor.

Bucktown is a gret place and

Bucktown is a gret place and I still maintain my relationship with the school and community, even in retirement.

Hey....watch your comments

Hey....watch your comments about Bucktown.  I taught in Buchanan for over 30 years and found it to be a community with a great heart and took care of its people.  I am very biased as to my experiences there and I treasure the moments i spent in my classroom and worked with the people of that Community.  Go Bucks!
