This is the reason that his…

This is the reason that his hire was a poor decision.  Juwan did not have the resume of someone that should be coaching a Michigan team.  The only reason he got the job was because of his Michigan ties and Warde's failure to do a proper coaching search.  Admittedly, this was due to the timing of Beilein's departure, but does not exclude Warde from criticism.  As many have stated, Warde always seems to take the "easy" path.  So now we have a fanbase that is very critical of a former beloved player and there will be a sad departure if not this year, then next year for Howard.  This could have been avoided.

I don't know.  We all love…

I don't know.  We all love the Championship this year, but I think most on here would say that it was in spite of Warde.  I do believe that we have no chance of high level success in football or basketball unless we are able to compete in NIL with regards to recruiting and the transfer portal.  If Warde doesn't address this, then I think we will be mired in a downward spiral in these two sports.  Also it appears like the University will wait to see downward trends in the finances before they act on anything.

I wonder how that went down…

I wonder how that went down.  Did the boosters run the recruiting and simply let him know who they signed, or did he tell them who to target?

The way I took it is that…

The way I took it is that Harbaugh held the football team together this year in spite of not getting any support from Warde.  The TN AD didn't sit back and watch the media and other teams pile on, he immediately supported the program.  As a result, you are not hearing a daily drum beat from the main stream beating up their program.  Warde let Harbaugh twist and handle it on his own.  Harbaugh was a de facto AD since Warde was MIA.

A good boss lets people know…

A good boss lets people know they are wanted and communicates that in different ways.  I really don't think it was a money problem as much as I don't want to work for a guy that doesn't come to my defense or back me up.  Beilein seemed to be sick of the direction college basketball was going and he probably had no chance to keep him.

Baseball was inconsistent…

Baseball was inconsistent with Bakich?  He took us to the title game without the top of the line recruits that play for southern teams.  Bakich was an excellent coach that deserved to be paid like top baseball coaches get in the college game.  Hockey is still to be determined, the team is up and down every week. Women's Bball is not trending up this year.

All that being said the handling of not seriously trying to keep Bakich and the lack of real support this year when the suspensions were going on upset me the most.  Warde let Harbaugh twist in the wind the whole season.  I have worked with people like that and the sooner you can get away the better.  I think that sealed Harbaugh's decision on leaving.

I used to like Shaka until…

I used to like Shaka until he bombed out at Texas.  Aren't you concerned that would happen here?  He may be just cut out for a smaller school situation.

This was the concern when we…

This was the concern when we hired Howard. He had no track record as a head coach and many were against his hire.  We know that he cares about the school, and that he has plenty of NBA experience, but none of that necessarily transfers to building a winning program. This truly is Warde's fault for putting a guy in position to fail.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Can someone clear up the 1st…

Can someone clear up the 1st suspension due to Cheeseburgers?

The way I have heard is that two recruits were in town and Harbaugh got the burgers. When he was investigated he answered that he didn't recall on some of the questions.  As a result, they claimed he was being willfully deceitful?  Is that right or am I missing something?

Thanks,

CC

It has worked pretty well. …

It has worked pretty well.  They have handled the entire BIG except us the last three years.  They were only one play away from beating us at home this year.  Day is weak, and unable to adjust is why we won, but there is a reason there record is good.  I don't suggest we become OSU but we need to attract top talent.

So he isn't going to support…

So he isn't going to support Moore is what he is saying.  Before, we were getting some transfers, but the NIL has entered that arena as well, and we are going to be in the same boat there as well.  It is just a matter of time until this destroys the football team.  I wish him to be gone.

You can't judge Warde on…

You can't judge Warde on Howard til the end of season. My issue with Warde is that he didn't say anything to support Harbaugh.  When everything happened this year, he was always after the fact before he spoke up.  I believe that he should have pushed back on the BIG and NCAA and supported Harbaugh.  He didn't have to do anything unethical like hamper investigations, but he should have been front and center calling them out and backing the coach.  Instead, he just let Harbaugh take all of the heat directly and didn't deflect anything away.

He is a weak leader at best.  Also, letting Bakich go without at least matching Clemson was a poor decision that let all know he doesn't care about the team being at the top.  It just seems like we have a guy who takes the easy way out all of the time.

My biggest concern is that…

My biggest concern is that Sherrone gets the appropriate support he needs.  Harbaugh's staff had an exceptional run of getting in on lower rated players that were actually very good and "coached them up" to get exceptional results. He also utilized the transfer portal to bring in some exceptional players.

We have to figure a way to compete financially upfront in recruiting, as well as the transfer portal since that has now changed with NIL money as well.  Admissions has to be fixed so that those that should be allowed can get in without any issues in timing or ease.  If not we will falter and be left behind.

I have to disagree with you…

I have to disagree with you.  Stars do matter.  Plenty of studies done on this board have demonstrated that 5 stars have a higher likelihood of success.  So ignoring that and cherrypicking a specific outlier doesn't prove your position.  Harbaugh absolutely would not turn down a 5 star talent, he just isn't going to put the necessary resources to get these guys due to the current system of paying players.

I think I know what you are…

I think I know what you are trying to say.  Stars do matter to the extent of these guys are scouted and have demonstrated the physical attributes to be scored at a higher level.  Because of our handling of NIL as it was designed we are at a disadvantage in getting 5 star  players.  To compete with the top teams you have to have some 5 star type players.  We are competing now with a few 5 stars and a lot of 4 stars that are developed to hit their potential.  This is a great formula, that can work, but the margin for error is smaller than teams getting more 5 star players.  For those that say stars don't matter, I would ask why we didn't sign a lot of two stars of hungry players that would be all in with the culture?  Also, just because a 5 star wants to get a nice payday, doesn't automatically mean that he is only in it for the money and is a locker room cancer.  Alabama and Georgia don't seem to have a bad locker room atmosphere.

Unfortunately I think this…

Unfortunately I think this will probably stand and Harbaugh will stay suspended.  The turmoil has caused a lot of mental stress on the entire team, and at some point I think they will play poorly and lose.  Hate to say it but OSU is getting everything they wanted.  Lastly, most people just accept what the pundits say and Michigan is still the bad guy in their eyes, even if this is all proven false later on.

I hope I am wrong on all of this.

So did anyone hear about…

So did anyone hear about this letter today on the sports networks?

Where they upset that no one…

Where they upset that no one could answer the question?

Totally agree.  He isn't a…

Totally agree.  He isn't a retread and has a proven track record as a coach.  Who knows if he can recruit at that level.

The local news channels were…

The local news channels were reporting that this could be happening.  So it seems to be a real possibility.  I am not sure why they want out.  Does anyone know what is the driving force behind this besides money?

I think everyone was…

I think everyone was expecting a barrage of Defensive players and so far just one.

Tight End?  is it the SOL ?

Tight End?  is it the SOL ?

I agree,

I agree,

This will affect play style…

This will affect play style and will discourage run heavy teams.

Kansas?

I think the B1G is…

Kansas?

I think the B1G is a constant on your wary list.

He isn't an idiot because he…

He isn't an idiot because he has a differing opinion than you.  My hot take is that this was the very likely scenario of hiring a head coach with very little resume and no idea of his coaching chops. I had hoped that he would be fine, but I am disappointed with how the team is trending.  I see too many players that don't understand their roles on the team, which causes a kid like T Williams to be put in spots where he cannot contribute.

I really don't see Warde doing anything in the near future regarding Juwan's coaching status.  I think he gets a pass this year and next before removing him would be considered.

Hopefully Juwan can develop the team and get more consistent success.

How about Mike Stoops from…

How about Mike Stoops from Kentucky?  He has done a pretty good job there.  Also, I remember that OU ran Venables off because of the Defense being subpar.  My honest opinion is that he is a good assistant coach.  Clemson has recruited at a very high level, so even though he has had good defenses, he has had all the talent in the world to work with.

Hard to believe we didn't…

Hard to believe we didn't get more snaps for the underclassmen last year.  With a "free" year due to COVID there was really no excuse to give them all productive game minutes.

Sorry, but you cannot stop…

Sorry, but you cannot stop COVID.  As Dan Patrick would say, "you can only hope to contain it".  Covid is going to spread regardless of what is done.  By flattening the curve you prolong the spread.  Doing nothing makes the spread more rapid.  We need to learn to live with it in our midst.  That means protecting those at risk from exposure while allowing those not at risk to leave productive lives that benefits everyone.

Also, lumping people in with a group of people that rioted is just political name-calling to shut down a differing view.  Plus, you don't really know who the instigators of the riot was.  If a crowd that size was really into rioting then they would still be dealing with the fallout.  As it was only a small portion were violent.

The one part that seems odd…

The one part that seems odd to me is how they hired a GM with underwhelming qualifications and then a head coach soon after.  Doesn't seem like the GM had any say in the hiring of Campbell.

He has been poorly coached…

He has been poorly coached with no real leadership in this organization.  So basically he has been on his own.  I think he is a talent and can win a lot of games for a better organization.  The lions need to cut ties for both parties and rebuild.  Mac Jones would be my first pick and then fix the defense.

Yep.  I believe Mac is going…

Yep.  I believe Mac is going to be an excellent QB in the NFL.

Pick Mac Jones #7

Fix defense with rest of draft.

That was against Alabama.  A team that could put 50 on any team in the country healthy or not.

I don't think it was a lazy…

I don't think it was a lazy comment.  Just a simple factual comment.

He must not have been the…

He must not have been the practice hero.  More favoritism.

I think the sample size for…

I think the sample size for Saban at the Dolphins is too small to say he failed.  I think if he would have stuck it out he would have been successful.  He didn't like dealing with the prima donna's on pro rosters.  We all know how he made a lineman cry.

He left off 2020 too.

He left off 2020 too.

Coaching issues, player…

Coaching issues, player recruitment or roster management are Harbaugh's responsibility.  It sounds like you want to give him a pass because of what he created.

So he lowballed Harbaugh so…

So he lowballed Harbaugh so next year he can fire him if the season is bad again?  Why would anyone think that he would fire him next year or the year after?  Has Warde demonstrated that at any point in his tenure?

Academics is more than just…

Academics is more than just classroom experience.  A University is to give the student a well rounded education which should include exposure to literature, the arts and athletics.  Current college athletics are not part of the educational experience and only benefit  a small amount of the student body.  I guess that college athletics are about school PR and regional prowess, which shapes public opinion of the said university.

So I personally think that the universities should offer a more cohesive intramural program to benefit all student's.  Maybe the only way to do that is to have fewer major sports that are financially beneficial for funding.

Are you saying that…

Are you saying that Partridge targeted, recruited and signed players without Harbaugh's approval?

Sounds like you are saying…

Sounds like you are saying we need a new AD?

I think the Dabo comparison…

I think the Dabo comparison used to be a legitimate one.  The thing with Dabo was the program had a positive trajectory.  Harbaugh's trajectory was up the first two years and a steady decline the last 4 years.  The most troubling aspect of JH is the teams inability to compete with the better teams.

The one difference with…

The one difference with Texas is that Strong was brought in to clean up the program.  He did that part but didn't win enough to keep his job.  Herman had no instructions other than to win and he failed at impressing the fan base.

I don't know that he has put…

I don't know that he has put an offer on the table or not.  He has not publicly stated it either way.  All of the info. we are debating is from "sources".  Warde needs to step forward and clear it up.  That is his job.

In other words get Harbaugh…

In other words get Harbaugh as far from coaching the team as possible.  It's a cynical way of looking at the mess, but if JH stay's it would be the best possible outcome.  BTW I live in the upstate, run into a lot of M fans while going out and about.

Ron,

the poster EastGerman…

Ron,

the poster EastGerman... posts Harbaughs record every time a post like this comes up.  After 2016 the team has regressed quite a bit and if you examine or rewatch the games against decent teams you will notice that the team is not prepared or excited, and just play flat while getting handled against the better teams.  At first we rolled the bad teams and struggled with the good teams.  Now we struggle with the bad teams and are getting destroyed against the better teams we play.

Who was in charge of…

Who was in charge of Partridge and his recruiting choices.  Partridge did not recruit anyone that Harbaugh didn't want.
