LFG!!!!  I can't believe OSU…

LFG!!!!  I can't believe OSU is the best team in the country - we need to end that.

That was also true before…

That was also true before the mass transfer era.

Would love to see Roman…

Would love to see Roman Wilson in Honolulu Blue next year, think he would be a perfect complement for Amon Ra, Laporta and Jamo.

They needed a fall guy.

Don…

They needed a fall guy.

Don’t forget where Chris Carter came from!

And he was / is a good…

And he was / is a good recruiter too.

He is already worth hundreds…

He is already worth hundreds of millions on the way to being a billionaire.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ohtani's financial team (especially if the translator was part of that team) didn't catch it.

Also, him paying off the gambling debt wouldn't surprise me - again, lot of money but $4.5 million to Ohtani is like $450 for a regular person.  A lot of people would fork out $500 to help a friend.

Ohtani being the better would surprise me but you never know.

Sorry, that was a typo.  I… Sorry, that was a typo.  I meant to say first DT picked.
Sorry, that was a typo.  I…

Sorry, that was a typo.  I meant to say first DT picked.

I actually truly believe…

I actually truly believe that both Brian and Seth should be hired as analysts by the football program.  Seriously, who has a better grasp of both Michigan and their opponents than these guys?

I am sure there would be a lot of technical knowledge and vocabulary that they would need to learn - but they are both extremely smart people that could pick that up inside a few months.

I believe there is no limit to the number of analysts that a program can hire - so they wouldn't be taking spots away from other folks.

Disagree on Graham - there…

Disagree on Graham - there are rumblings he would have been the first pick in 2024.

A good year will kick him into the 1st round.

Have to imagine this is the…

Have to imagine this is the beginning of the end for the ACC.

Nope - he was a target under…

Nope - he was a target under Beilein but committed to Juwan.

Famously, Beilein quit the day before his official visit.

To say that none of Juwan's…

To say that none of Juwan's recruits have done anything is a gross exaggeration.  Hunter and Kobe were great recruits / players.

Franz was also Juwan recruit and development - albeit he was handed to Juwan on a silver platter.

Lots of other guys are Houstan, Diabate and Jett are on NBA rosters.

He was the best player in…

He was the best player in the 1994 NCAA tournament - bar none.

Ha!  I accidentally clicked…

Ha!  I accidentally clicked on "Save" before I was finished with my post.  I kind of like how you finished it for me - perhaps better than my edit.  LOL...

While it was necessary based…

While it was necessary based on the collapse of the team and the players seemingly quitting at certain points late this season, I took no joy at Juwan getting fired - I really wish that it could have worked out as the promise from the first 2-3 years was so immense.

Glad Juwan took the "classy' road and didn't burn bridges on the way out.  I met him a couple of times back in the day - he was a friend of a guy who lived across the hall from me on campus.  Always seemed like a genuine and friendly guy.

Let's just hope that we can find a coach that can rebuild the program within 2 years and get back on the track that we were on from 2017-2022 when we made 5 straight Sweet 16s.

I would liken Julian Fleming…

I would liken Julian Fleming to a shitty Cornelius Johnson.

Good call.  Dusty May (FAU)…

Good call.  Dusty May (FAU) and Kyle Smith are the best two candidates IMHO.

Do you think the lack of…

Do you think the lack of athleticism is due to his injury history or was he just a whiff by the recruiting analysts?

Mark Antony was the brains…

Mark Antony was the brains behind the operation.  He should have been given the reigns after.

Augustus was a nepo baby.

kidding…

To be fair, the MSU AD was…

To be fair, the MSU AD was right about player safety.

The Michigan game broke their mental health.

Knowing that your rival could have beaten you 78-0 but took pity on your soul can’t be good for your football psyche.

I am surprised that nobody…

I am surprised that nobody else has mentioned this but Hunter tried to tell the Michigan admin and fan base that this was going to happen back in 2022 due to lack of NIL for basketball.

That is not to defend Juwan because this has pretty much gone down the route of worst case scenario.  However, if we don't get admissions and NIL fixed, our ceiling will be Northwestern (middle of the pack in a bad B1G every couple of years) and that assumes we hire a coach that can function under those circumstances.

Tim Biakabatuka and Jamie…

Tim Biakabatuka and Jamie Morris might have something to say about it too.

That 1995 OSU game will always be one of my favorites...

If you want cable news or…

If you watch cable news or listen to political radio - you are told over and over again what you are supposed to believe.

Unfortunately, I would guess that 70% of the general public follow the party lines hook, line and sinker.

Jim Harbaugh was a personal…

Jim Harbaugh was a personal guest of Michelle Obama at the State of the Union in one of his early years at Michigan.

He is a close friend of the Obamas and has worked with Michelle on several initiatives.  So I am not sure that he is on a different side of the isle than Sherrone (or if either of them are on any particular side).

I think Harbaugh has strong views on particular subjects and doesn't care which "party" that makes happy as it doesn't fit neatly in the left-right spectrum that has been artificially crafted for the American public. As if all of us are so brain dead that politicians and other political quacks tell us what view we are supposed to have on the various issues.

I wonder if anyone would opt…

I wonder if anyone would opt-out of the 3rd place game.

I sprained my ankle right at…

I sprained my ankle right at my Achilles about three weeks ago.  I would say it is about 80% better but I still feel it when I try to run or so anything explosive like jump.

340?

340?

National writers are never…

National writers are never going to have level of depth and detail of the MGoBlog writers but overall Tom and the Cover 3 gang have done a good job covering the B1G and Michigan over the years.  Last August, a couple of them (I specifically remember Danny Kanell) picking Michigan to win the National Championship.

Also, during the worst of SignGate, these guys (except for Danny ironically) were at the forefront of defending Michigan and basically saying it was a big ball of nothing being pumped by the media for clicks.  Bud Elliott went as far as to say that any coaching not trying to push the envelope / bending the rules isn't doing their job.

The Bucknuts are the cooler…

The Bucknuts are the cooler poopers.  The depositories for their dispositions are pooper coolers…

The results were nearly…

And yet the results were nearly identical!

Average high temp this…

Average high temp this February has been 58 degrees - not really but not totally kidding either.

Very interesting analysis -…

Very interesting analysis - I would fall much closer to the desk potato part of the spectrum.

One reason for optimism here would that most of the success stories for late-WR/TE conversions seem to relate to basketball players.

I wonder whether traditional basketball skill sets help hard code the hand-eye coordination you describe above.  We already know that basketball definitely helps hard code the body positioning for WRs and TEs and the jumping fluidity obviously is a massive advantage.

Seems like a perfect fit for…

Seems like a perfect fit for the Lions as their RB3 if he is around in Round 5.  He would be a perfect complement for the Gibbs / Montgomery room.

My guess though is that he goes in the 3rd round.

Yes, bought the spring…

Yes, but the spring portal is equal footing for everyone.  The last 30 days has been open hunting season on Michigan players!

It wasn't me...

It wasn't me...

It wasn't me...

I still haven't decided if I want Michigan to stay in the B1G...

90%+ of college football is…

90%+ of college football is a recreational activity for students - go watch those games if that is what you are looking for.

Nobody is forcing you to watch FBS football.

So let's go back to the…

So let's go back to the black market where "students" get paid under the table via bags of cash and nobody reports anything to the IRS - because that model was legally viable.  Oh wait, it wasn't viable per a 9-0 ruling from the Supreme Court.

So get out of here with your end of the college football world quasi-legal bullshit.  If you want to see truly recreational student football, go watch Albion or Adrian or Oakland Community College - there are plenty of teams to follow for people that have a problem with elite athletes getting paid for the labor and NIL rights.

The real issue is how we get to a point where athletes from 134 FBS schools can get to a collective bargaining agreement. My guess is the B1G / SEC Advisory Committee is the first step towards this happening (at least for the future super league).

Right now, college football is literally stronger and bigger than ever with literally billions of dollars of earnings just from media rights - that doesn't even include ticket sales, merchandise and local / regional / national spin-off economic activity, I wouldn't be surprised if college football represented a $10 billion per year economic impact if we were able to count up everything.

It will stay messy for a little while but it will get itself sorted - it always does when there is this much money at stake.

Does Mullings have a path to…

Does Mullings have a path to 2025 eligibility?  I didn't think so.

This was my favorite year of…

This was my favorite year of CFB.  The only years that were even close were 1985, 1997, 2006, 2021 and 2022.

So half of my favorite years are in the NIL era.

He said other teams …

He said other teams “offering a deal” - you think that players on other teams are offering up deals?

If other players can call you on behalf of a coach / administrator / booster / collective - if it is that easy to make it ok - then there are effectively no rules.

Wouldn't make any difference…

Wouldn't make any difference...  here is a coach calling out another coach and nothing will happen:

Liberty coach Jamey Chadwell claims LSU paid transfer WR CJ Daniels $300,000 among other benefits (msn.com)

Why should a kid put his neck on the line for nothing?

Many people would have said…

Many people would have said that going into 2022 and 2023.  Senior laden, close-knit and well developed "teams" may actually be a legit path to contention going forward, if not the best path given both Michigan and Washington's success last year.

Also, revenue sharing may well blow up the current model all together and that may happen sooner than later.

He literally said teams were…

He literally said teams were blowing up his phone but he didn't really consider it very seriously.

I would say that is clear tampering.  If that is not against the "rules" then there are no rules.

He finished 7th in the final…

He finished 7th in the final Heisman voting last year and was second only to Jalen Milroe in terms of players coming back in 2024.

I would say that puts him in the superstar category.

Got it! Thanks!

Got it! Thanks!

This has obviously gone over…

This has obviously gone over my head - are you referring to David Einhorn, the hedge fund manager?  or Mark Einhorn, the former Blue Jays superstar setup man?

Or perhaps a lesser known Einhorn?

I think this is the right…

I think this is the right answer - he was a baseball commit to OSU before flipping to Michigan.
