Game went from "This is good." to "Hell yea! Beat down!". Was kind of thinking, "You know, I prefer close games" to " Sweet! This is a beat down!!" just when I needed it too. You don't see that too often between these two. In fact, I can't find it at all in my memeory banks. I'm more used to seeing an undertalented Spartan team play us close or to win through pure determination and toughness. Plus, I got to see my daughter ride the zamboni again. They take the shoes now. "No problem daddy! The socks are definitely coming off!" That's my girl!!
My daughter rode the zamboni during the first intermission She threw both shoes and a sock. I was so proud of her.
Me too.

As I jumped out of my seat and exclaimed, "Mgoblog is going to be SO all over this! He might get +4 on UFR for that!  This hit will become legend.  You just wait!"

Imagine the eye roll I received.

Imagine how quickly I ran to show her this.

Try this link to find regional/local CPA firms

http://www.michcpa.org/Aptify/Referral/FindCPA.aspx

Type in Ann Arbor zip code.  There are several, but 48103 will work.

The site doesn't tell you who is hiring, but it does give links to the firms with websites.  These are your players, outside of the Big 4.  You have to sift through a lot, but you might find some regional firms of interest to you.

It will help if you are qualified to sit for the exam and will satisfy the 150 rule in Michigan, which I imagine is a little different than Wisconsin (at least in some small detail).  That is something you would surely want to point out in coverletters/resumes being fired accross the lake.

Good luck!

Fatburger

Too bad the Fatburger in southfield went out of business.  Too close to the Five Guys, I guess.

Hopslam

Thank the budget this is only available for very short period and I don't like it that much.  I love  Bell's and hopsy brew (in general), but Hopslam is a little over the top for me.  When I paid $17 for a sixer, I was torn between wanting to love it and wanting to hate it.  It turns out I am abivalent,  leaning towards too hopsy.  Admittedly, I haven't yet tried it on tap.  I have tried to brave the long wait for a table at Slowes a few times and to convince the wife to drag the family to Ashley's for dinner a few time recently (both attempts unsucccessful - Slowes food awesome - Ashleys - not so much) .  I am really jonesing for Dale's Pale Ale.  I can't find this anywhere local Northville area, but had it last summer while visiting friend in Milwaukee.

Perception

I think the perception of it as a tradition still has some limited cache, but agreed, calling it a "triadition here like none other..." is probably overestimated as selling point.

But...when it happens again!

Assistants

A mission from God

Go get Scott Loeffler now please

Get Guitar Murphy

Probably my imagination, but...

during the BB game, it looked like he was fumbling for the words at the end of the song.  I'm not suggesting anything negative.  These things happen to the best of us.  I'm sure he was very caught up in the moment near the end of the game.  Maybe just my imagination anyways.

Globetrotters were on earlier today.

I think it's a replay, but I won't spoil it for you by telling you who wins.  It was entertaining.

Plus, we are up 4 goals on MSU right now.  2 minutes left in the game.  Happiness.

Where was the C in Gittleson S&C?

I think most people only feel the conditioning was lacking?

Partial "blame" for 2008, maybe?

I don't think Lloyd would have gone 3-9, Mallett or no Mallett.  I mean that to be in defence of LC, not a slam against RR.  The attrition was real, no doubt, and has been well documented.  The cupboard was bare for many reasons, not entirely to be blamed on decline in recruiting under LC.  Also, RR cleaned house of some very good position coaches, which I understand was somewhat to be expected.  RR is mostly responsible for 2008 (IMHE). He was responsible for the team (as you say), scheme and coaching staff.  I applaud RR for his efforts and wish him future success, here or elsewhere.  Sure he got more grief than he deserved.  No question.  But, so did Lloyd.

I'm not sure what your point is.

Lloyd didn't abandon the team.  He was ready to retire from coaching, so he did.  It's not like he went looking for another coaching position.

What exactly are you blaming Lloyd Carr for?  It's been three years!

Crisp Lady!

Much thanks for the picture of CRISP Lady.  It is exactly how I almost remember it.  The memory is fuzzy and black and white - at best.  Apparently I am not permanently scarred from the process, because I was able to laugh heartily at the picture.  The only thing that really pissed me off about the process was that roommates and hallmates who had AP credits from high school got to register ahead of me.  My high school did not yet have AP classes at the time, so I got the shaft.

Cool.

This is my favorite segment of the show.

Roy seemed to know Michael better than he knows himself (Baby Boy/Batman comments), which is the sign of a true friend.  Priceless.

My favorite to date was the Grady Brothers.  That one just made me feel warm and fuzzy.

Schadenfreude

You nailed it.

It's all about the schadenfreude.

congrats.

Congratulations on your recent union.  Remember these two words "Yes dear" and live by the mantra "happy wife, happy life".

Unfortunately, you will be missing A2 in the prime of it's beauty.  The leaves will all be gone by the Wiscy game.  However, there is still much wonder to behold and you will definately have a most triumphant time!

Depending on your age, I would agree with Clarkie's post (above) about going to Rick's for a quick stop.  There really is no substitute (when you are youngish) for partaking in pitchers of cheap ass beer and listening to great live music.  You really never know what band you hear at Rick's might be an eventual big thing.  It's always great to duck into Rick's pisser for a quick "boot and rally" from the aforementioned cheap ass beer (did it many times as an undergrad).

If you can still walk after Rick's, head on over to Ashley's (again kudos to Clarkie) to get some REALLY good suds.  Between the Stadium, Rick's and Ashleys, you will pick up the campus vibe during the geometry.  Don't overplan it.  Go with the flow.

No way.

The beer can hats rule!

You take that back!

Free pass

John Navarre is on my wife's un-laminated list.

I shit you not.

It's not laminated.

He overachieved, and I asked no more of him.

Really?

It's a dog jumping on your mmmmmmommmmm.

Yes.

Remember that time Michigan got destoyed by Terrell Buckley?  That was pretty cool.

Remember that time Rocket Ismail beat Michigan single handedly?  That was awesome.

(Chris Farley in an elevator with you)

When friends....

When you are friends with Spartan fans, and you value the friendship, just rememeber that the freindship is more important than his/her comprehension of rational thought.

It's OK even to patronize them sometimes (Don't worry...they won't realize you are patronizing them), if the need arises.

Homer fights Tatum

Marge: "Homer, he's not going to get tired.  You've got to hit him back.  Hit him back!"

Homer: "That cactus is right."

I don't really care if they are overrated, but..

I have a healthy fear of Ricky Stanzi right now (all things considered).

Spaceships

and unwanted probing.

My favorite College Gameday sign ever

Kansas Football - A tradition since September

Dale's Pale Ale

I haven't seen this anywhere in southeast Michigan, but it is superb.  I have only see it in a can (?), which adds to it's charm (IMHO).  It was all over the place when I visited my friend in Milwaukee.  If anyone knows where to get this stuff locally, please do tell.

Anyways, my beer of choice tonight is Patron.

Rock You Like a Hurricane

"Lets face it, jets are loud, fast and cool.  You are the .01% who don't like them."

Sideshow Bob is the other representative of the .01%.  I believe he is not impressed by airshows.

Scrounging

When I run out of Oberon and Two Hearted, I scrummage for cookout leftovers.  Tonight's score:  Miller Lite and Summer Shandy.  That's an upgrade from my last episode, which was warm Pabst in the corner of my garage (RIP uncle Paul).

John Deere tractors

are awesome.  I'm just saying... That would be something I wouldn't hold against OSU fans.

Lawn Darts and Hogs

I've flown one (from the back seat - one time) and I worked in Falcon APG at Nellis.  I can assure you noboby in my unit ever referred to Falcons generically as Vipers.  I can't recall ever hearing the weapons school instructor pilots or students ever calling them Vipers either.

Much to learn, you stil have.

Impatient you are

The dark side I sense in you

That is why you fail

Use avatar for inspiration.

I feel being forced to ride a "hard tail" bicycle, bearing load of Yooper deer camp killage, while tormentors ride dual suspension mountain bikes over kick-ass jumps/tree roots/stacked wood piles, would be very appropriate punishment on some level.  Use your creative license there.  It's your story

Oh noes.

Please do not make ths site any better!  As someone with OCD and ADHD (add possible insomnia), this site is the PERFECT drug.   Brian is genious in my mind, not just because I have issues, but because I love his writing style.  I love UFR, because it makes me feel like I understand stuff I didn't understand.

Awesome!

*Retracted spoiler alert*  I love Inferno.  I hope this get's graphic.

Agreed on all three counts.

I thought maybe I imagined that, but it did seem that the timing was a lot closer watching it later on tv than I remember at the game.

Holy frickin' nitro boost on the refs.

Yes, the obvious hold.

I'm still not over that game.

That was my first and last game at Spartan Stadium.  Too be honest, I'm not sure I ever want to go back, having witnessed that.  I will probably be cursing that stupid asspipe as long as I live.  It is consolation that Lloyd let 6 straight years of biblical wrath rain down upon them for their transgressions, but it still stings.

Eddie Murphy - Delirious

It's old school, but I still do the damn ice cream bit every now and then.

Still on the fence.

America, Fuck Yeah!

I'm patriotic.  That might be as far as I can take it, but we will see.

Glimmers.

I've seen him throw at least one 45-50 yd td pass in split second check down (I don't remember which game) more effortlessly than me tossing my shorts next to the nightstand before hitting the sack.  That alone gives me nightmares of the kid's potential.

Show some respect!

I think if you read his posts, it's pretty fucking obivious he is not faking interest in soccer.  I don't really like soccer that much, other than watching my daughter play very competitively with boys her age (5yrs old), but I still enjoy Brian's posts on soccer.  We are not living in a vacuum on this blog.  WTF?  It's his blog.  I HATE pointing out the obvious.

South Quad rocked, and probably still does.

Not a big soccer fan.

I'm not a big soccer fan, but I almost forget that when Brian writes about it, so I like the posts.

OK. I'm going to go wipe the shit off my nose now.

Yost?

Yost.

Kazoos

I like kazoos.  They sound funny and make me laugh.

I do not like vuvuzelas.  They sound hurty and remind me of bees.  Bees make me nervous.

Correct.

No "poop eyes" there.  The eyes always let you know when daddy's time is heading for intermission.

Mmmm..

That's guud sqwishee.

Scared silly.

Your story reminds me of the time I rode that thing at the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.  I was convinced we were going to shoot right off the top of the tower and land on the Vegas strip.  But, it was a nice night and we all gotta go sometime, so I figured what the hell.  The funny thing is, I was much more scared getting on the second time around.  I was like, "Why in the hell am I doing this again?!".

Guh?

"It's still 100x better than any form of baseball."

Shenanigans.

I couldn't agree more,

but I still think is a very cool idea just for fun.  We all know the real deal, and I have to believe they realize it too, even if they don't admit it.  It would be cool to unify the championship retroactively, even though only in gesture and even though we don't really need it to feel better about the '97 season.

I've enjoyed every game at Yost, win or lose.

Some of my favorites:

2003 regionals

Every game wth Al Montoya

Drunk guys yelling at Chris Tamer to "Get out there and fu*#king hit somebody!"

When the chant was simply, "C'ya...Asshole!"

Making fun of Cowie, because his name is Cowie

Seeing a Hanson brother

My first game at Yost.  I had no idea of the craziness I was getting myself into.
