Unprecedented College Football Weekend?
I don’t recall a college football weekend quite like this.
On top of this, #12 MSU @ #13 OSU as well as #15 Oklahoma State @ #21 Iowa State. So that makes 20 of the top 25 teams squaring off this weekend. Has this ever happened before?
Also what should we call this weekend? Since we are not part of any of these matchups I think I’ll go with Meteor Week. What say you?
Go Blue.

This week is legit. It should be called enjoyment week, cause there ain't many left. Enjoy fellas.

Agree, I'm thrilled that I didn't decide to go to a game today. Already been to games this fall at LSU, Mississippi State, and Oklahoma State. Picked a great weekend to surf my couch.

Yea great weekend to just chill.

A fantastic weekend for the girlfriend to be busy with work.

Judgement day back in 1997 had better games at the top but not as much quantity in terms of top 25
November 11th, 2017 at 12:02 PM ^
Great minds think alike, I actually looked up that weekend before posting this. That weekend there were only three top 25 matchups:
#3 FSU @ #5UNC
#4 Michigan @ #2 Penn State
#8 Tennessee @ #24 Southern Miss

yesterday. Games were fanatastic, if only the refs would have flagged that damn kick 6.

judgement Day 2: Armageddon

over the decades is that it's often the unheralded weekends that turn out to be the best and the ones with the biggest matchups can quite easily disappoint. Not to say that today can't be fun but I also wouldn't be shocked if it's not even the best CFB weekend of the year.
November 11th, 2017 at 11:59 AM ^
We are off to a good start already.

So many good games... my wife will totally hate me after today.

Marry a midwestern woman who loves college football
November 11th, 2017 at 11:49 AM ^
had panned out as expected this preseason. There might have been 4 Top 10 matchups.

This graphic should be shown to any talking head who is suggesting the playoff be expanded beyond six teams. This is why college football remains awesome while the NFL is losing attendance and viewership.
November 11th, 2017 at 11:56 AM ^
This looks exactly like a 16 team bracket to me. Second weekend November begins the play in games.
We need to get back there next year
November 11th, 2017 at 11:56 AM ^
Agree, let's just get to 8 already.
November 11th, 2017 at 12:03 PM ^
still don't think 8 is a bad idea for playoff. Might slightly diminish some games, but there is still a lot of meaning week in and week out.

This Saturday is called I work the afternoon/evening shift and will miss all but the noon games. Hooray. And I definitely don't care enough about the non-Michigan games to DVR them all. Highlights it is.
But hey, at least I am home to watch most of MSU-OSU? Of all the games to be able to watch...
November 11th, 2017 at 11:57 AM ^
Makes up for several weeks in the beginning of the season that offered nothing but shit matchups.
Today should be one hell of a day for football.
November 11th, 2017 at 12:01 PM ^
First Saurday to myself in can't remember when. Great games all day long
November 11th, 2017 at 12:01 PM ^
That graphic makes it look better than it actually is, though. All the top ten matchups are repeated.
November 11th, 2017 at 12:02 PM ^
Laurier vs Western for the Ontario title (second year in a row after an amazing comeback win for laurier last year) and Laval (Canada's Alabama) vs Montreal (their biggest rival)

Maryland lol
November 11th, 2017 at 12:08 PM ^
guess it's a pretty good lineup but nothing great. Ga/Auburn, ND/Miami and TCU/Ok are listed twice each which makes th graphic look better than it is. Funny thing is I think the only 2 unranked teams on there are both going to win their games.
November 11th, 2017 at 1:35 PM ^
In spectacular fashion. Jesus.
November 11th, 2017 at 1:46 PM ^
That was good defense.
November 11th, 2017 at 1:46 PM ^
In case nobody realized, all these matchups are fabricated by the CFP committee to make people tune in. Auburn, Iowa, MSU (both of them) are all horrendously overrated in order to give the appeal of a "top 25 matchup". They'll do it again if Michigan and Wisconsin win this week, we'll shoot up to top 20 in order to make our game more attractive
November 11th, 2017 at 6:52 PM ^
I don't know about "Top 20" but I would say definitely Top 25. We aren't ranked in the CFP and I can't see us taking that big of jump for beating Maryland. Who knows though, obviously a lot of teams in front of us lost/will lose because of the matchups this week. I still say maybe #22 or so, but I'm no "expert"!

Only game I care about as of now is Penn St.

Best week of the season and I'm spending most of it in airports. Great timing, employer

On my way to round up the last few items for the Cuban sliders from mgobbq this week, gonna get some beers and enjoy the hell out of a great slate of entertaining and low stress (for a Michigan fan, hopefully) games!
November 11th, 2017 at 4:28 PM ^
Home brew and Cuban Hawaiian sliders over here too!
November 11th, 2017 at 6:22 PM ^
Welp, been nice knowing ya. I'm eating the whole pan.

But I am rooting for chaos.
Maybe name the weekend:

As of the 1st Q of Michigan-Maryland, #’s 9, 12, 17, and 21 have already lost. Maybe we can take care of business and be ranked.
November 11th, 2017 at 4:28 PM ^
Add Michigan hockey tonight! and Wings-Jackets...always good beating a team from Ohio.
November 11th, 2017 at 5:26 PM ^
Last week ended up being pretty good.
