Tuesday Night College Basketball, But Really A "Go Gophers"...Thread

Submitted by B-Nut-GoBlue on

What's everyones take?  Do the Gophers stand a chance or is Indiana in cruise control to win and pretty much take the Conference title by themselves?

I think the Gophers need a lot of things to go right in order for them to win; a lot of things that I don't think will happen.  I half think they may be set-up better than Illinois was to beat a team like Indiana, and Illinois of course pulled it off.  So, never say never.

Minnesota is just "that" team that can literally beat any team in the country...or lost to half the teams in the country. So talented, if you get their best effort, you'll probably lose.

I really think that win on the road will be huge for Michigan down the road.

I'm not saying they're world beaters, but they're dangerous. And because they're going to lose to teams they shouldn't it makes it even worse. Losing to IU is one thing, they're the best team in the country. Losing to Minnesota really isn't that bad, but because they're going to lose 2-3 games they shouldn't it's going to look worse than it is.

They each have wins over each other on the other team's home court.

Minnesota has legit wins over Sparty, Memphis and Wisconsin.

Illinois has legit wins over Butler, Gonzaga, Indiana and OSU.

Illinois is in.  I think Minnesota is in with a win tonight seeing their last 3 games are against the bottom dweller teams.

I feel like Indiana is being super aggressive on the offensive end and is trying to match Minnesota's intensity. Got to keep it close. Try to limit turnovers.

Is he trolling Minnesota or Indiana?  Did he put one of those graphics up that ranks Minnesota over Indiana in the conference?  That'd be cute.  Real cute.

The real U of M, the real hockey town, is what I heard a lot when I lived in Burnsville Minnesota. I would simply reply, I never heard that when I lived in Michigan.

If anyone is intrigued, here are the shooting percentages for the Gophers and Hoosiers at halftime...

  FG% 3FG% FT% Eff. FG%
MINNESOTA 40.0% 14.3% 83.3% 41.7%
INDIANA 39.3% 41.7% 87.5% 47.1%

I realize they're going all out to stop Zeller, but there isn't any excuse for giving up 14 points to Jordan Hulls in one half.

Eh, he's been left open a couple times.  Bad thing to do with him on the court.  But he's also created a couple shots himself.  Not much can do with that.  The guy's got such a deadly stroke that he's going to get himself some points.

Hipster Dan Dakich always tries to humble brag about how he knew every HS basketball player in the state of Indiana before they blew up.

"Cody Zeller was the same way back in High School, not willing to take over a game."

"I remember watching Glenn Robinson as a Sophomore in High School..."

Cool bro.  Grab a PBR.  Nobody cares.
