Pep needs to be bathed in ice tonight.

Should have an unholdy amount of comments wanting Speight to start next week.

Also we know Morris is done at UM based on Brian's tweet.

Speight completed 3 of 6 passes for 29 yards and 1 (sweet, glorious) TD and engineered 3 drives that spanned about 40 yards total.  And you're ready to abandon both a player who had Michigan positioned to beat MSU and Harbaugh's judgment over the course of several months of practice and play.  Ok.

Nobody really argues that Rudock is a good QB, and yes, he leaves points on the table.  But there's still a reason he's playing.

Rudock led 3 drives to 21 points, including an important long drive to start the 3rd quarter and regain a lead right after Minnnesota had taken all momentum in the locker room.

Speight led one short drive to 8 points, though he made a couple of gutsy improv-type throws to get that done.

Maybe we should give credit to both? Crazy thought, I know.

I'm not on the start Speight over Rudock train yet, but he did look competent I suppose. Don't think Rutgers and Indiana is a bad place to maybe give him a look.

Rushing game was hit and miss.

It was just a weird game.

Didn't feel like there was a flow.

Either we have road games YIPES or MN played inspired, we did not look that good. But, it is great to see that Speight can actually make plays. Kudos to Harbaugh for getting him ready.

We need to see more DRAKE. He was getting literally 7 yards a play easily.

PEPPERS is awesome. Without him, we would not have won this game.

How big was that 2 point conversion that the offense made? It played a major factor in helping us win that game because Minnesota would've just tried a FG to win at the end.

Sucks that rudock was taken out on the 2nd annual uncalled Minn targeting but it's clear he is lost out there. Was terrible this game. Not sure speight is the answer but might be worth a shot next week.

I've seen targeting applied on WAY less. And until they get it right on all calls, I will be upset on this one. It actually resulted in an injury. If ever there was a time to apply the targeting rul, especially with how liberal they have been doing it across ALL college football all year long (and how many have been horribly called), this was it.

I don't think it's homerism. I think M fans are quite understandably bitter about how this horrible rule has been consistently wrongly applied to them, especially given how it's been applied in other games.

And until the B1G hires competant booth-review officials ---or better yet, CFB completely overhaul the entire play review system AND rules, targeting calls are going to continue to be handled unfairly and unevenly.

And yes, I've seen lesser hits called targeting by the on-field refs, but I've also seen worse hits not called.

Well, let's dissect the rushing numbers a little bit:

We managed 127 yards as a team over 34 carries, which comes out to 3.74 yards per carry, but the difference maker here was Drake Johnson - take his 10 for 55 out and it is 72 yards on 24 carries, which is 3.00 yards per carry.

Through the air, 16/27 for 169 yards between Rudock and Speight, or 10.56 yards per completion and 6.26 yards per attempt. Also, Wilton Speight - kudos, many kudos.

How can the coaches play anyone at RB other than Johnson? He is so obviously head and shoulders above the other guys...do the coaches not see this?

I never want Green to have a meaningful carry the rest of the season. Smith and Issac can come in for certain situations.

The Drake had a solid game tonight. It's pretty clear he has the best vision out of any of the backs. Smith and Green only seem to be able to get yardage when the line gives them a hole. Drake can make nothing into a 5 yard run.

Speight. Entered the program behind much higher rated QB's. Speight didn't give no ****s.

The media focused on Jake and Shane for the QB position for the season. Speight didn't give no ****s.

Harbaugh signed 100 QB's during his first "official" signing period where he had 3? months to prepare for? Speight didn't give no ****s.

Jake went down during a play that deserved a penalty and recieved none. Speight gave no ****s.

Speight, under tons! of pressure needed to score a TD to win. Speight gave no ****s.

One touchdown, a 2-point conversion later. Speight still doesn't give a fuck. Speight is a starting Michigan QB and has earned it.

If Speight never gets the nod for another start in his career I will always remember him. He was subbed into a game during a HUGE point in Michigan's history.

Losing this game, Michigan would reasonably never be in the BIG 10 Champtionship game conversation agian, for the year. Michigan would have lost a conference trophy...again.

Speight stepped in during a TREMENDOUS point of the game. No time to warm up. No time to gauge the defense. Speight gave no ****s.

Speight is a Michigan QB. Speight stepped in and delivered. He gave no fucks.

I actually think Speight should get a shot at some starter minutes. I know we had some 3-and-outs with him, but that was when Minnesota was putting 11 in the box, selling out on the run. That TD drive when Wilton was allowed to unleash the dragon looked pretty killer.

Not saying he should supplant Rudock now, but if Rudock is struggling maybe we should consider bringing in Speight instead of riding Rudock come hell or high water

I don't think it'll happen but Speight did very well and I'd like to see him get some playing time. Rudock really limits our offense and today it hurt our D with the amount of minutes they were out there.

There are just so many opportunities we're leaving on the table.. After Speight had a chance to get his blood flowing and get into the game you could see his calm demeanor and ability to keep his eyes downfield.

I don't see that from Rudock. I see a guy who panics often and is very inconsistent. He locks in on receivers and the result is a lot of balls batted down. Give Speight a chance!

I wouldn't say Speight panicked. Much different situation, running onto the field in the middle of a tight game in front of a raucus crowd. Makes sense that he'd need time to settle in given the circumstance.

All things considered, he was incredibly poised and threw a nice slant and 2 pt conversion.

And trust me, they're calling simple plays for Rudock too.

I'm a bit giddy over this win still but I'm feeling really fortunate about one of its coin flips. After watching Peppers's attempted punt reception near the two yard line, I can tell why the call on the field was hard to overturn (there are his fingertips, sharing space with the ball as it drops past), but the ball's trajectory, if changed, is only changed subtly, too subtly, I guess, to overrule the call of touchback.

However, I'm still in semi shock over our good fortune on that one call on the field. It seems to me that this is typically called contact on the field and would then become a safety. Especially when the player chases the ball exasperatedly into the end zone. Not that that's the only interpretation but it's the prevailingly common one. And video replay never could have overturned it.

The official ESPN had on air explained that is did not matter if he touched it or not: as long as he did not catch it, it is not a safety. So it really wasn't as close as it looked. That said, I never knew that rule and thought he f'ed up pretty good, and judging by his reaction, he didn't know either. The refs on the field seemed to have it down: they did not hesitate to call a touchback as soon as he was down.
