In life you are sometimes thrown curveballs, just like this game. You either strap on the diapers or double down. Don Brown could only do so much but today’s play calling was mentally numbing. Jim, you’re either complicit in this shit show or naive.

That was the most pathetically prepared football team I have seen since the RR era.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever expected to say that for a Harbaugh coached team.  Up 19-3 late in the 3rd and lose 26-19?.   Un-fucking-real!

Shae Patterson, I hope to God you get your immediate eligibility.

If JBB could have just followed the rules and played this game we would have won. Runyan is not the answer at RT. He got pushed back behind the line numerous times on running plays. Bredeson would have helped. Spanellis came in for Kugler in the 2nd quarter. That's 3 new players on the offensive line. I am not making excuses. The coaches have to do a better job making sure the next man up is ready to play. The offensive line was horrible today. A freshman QB needs those guys to control the line of scrimmage. They didn't. I am not sold on Peters at all. He has no swagger. He is the antithesis of Brett Favre/John Elway. That slide at the end of the game is the same crap that finally forced Harbaugh to bench O'Korn. The next game is 8 months away. You don't slide to save yourself for next week. Grow some cajones and go for the win. I said we needed to win 1 of the last 3 games to avoid a long off-season of grumbling. Welcome to 8 months of blog hell.

The injuries on the already bad line, the youth at WR and the dreadful playcalling are why I don't think Peters can be ruled out. He wasn't good today, but he didn't get any help either.

But yeah that slide...

I told my brother who is here watching this shit-show with me that I wanted O'Korn for the last drive.  Ponder that for a moment.

Peters looked like he was in slow-motion today.  What a deservedly long off-season this will be for Harbaugh.  Never thought I would ever feel the need to say that.

So in the days before this game, the narrative was "If Peters was playing we would have gone 11-1 and beat MSU, Wisconsin, and OSU. Now Peters sucks and Shea is the answer right? Just admit it, nothing will fix this. We got all this "steel in the spine, meritocracy", and all this bullshit and we're still the same team as we were under Hoke. It's the program guys, nothing changes. The team is a direct reflection of the head coach, any time we get punched in the mouth, ANYTIME, we wilt. What happened to the guy who used to explode on the sideline you guys? Something is seriously wrong with the entire program. We are now the laughing stock of the entire conference. Why do you think we can't get any big time players to come here?

I don't know that that's quite right...  Drevno should go back to OL full time, get rid of Pep, and either (Jim) Harbaugh should reclaim real OC responsbilities or bring in somebody with a track record of college success.... kind of like the DB hire, but for offense.

The Standard should be 8 wins LOL. We should be thrilled. Get 8 again next season. We're basically Kansas State.

Hell, the defense didn't even celebrate the missed FG to give them one last chance. Major changes are needed on the shitshow called offense. So, we only bring out innovative plays once a year against OSU? Bullshit.

Everything was fine when it was 19-3, though. Face it, several key players made huge mistakes which resulted in turnovers. That's what cost Michigan the game. If Higdon doesn't fumble, Michigan is up 26-3 and coasts to an easy win.

Even when it was 19-3 just before the Higdon fumble, M was not really playing very well.  Just that SC was also playing poorly also.

Thing is, after that Higdon fumble Michigan seemed to just fold mentally.

Soooo many things to fault today, from JH, to the entire staff, to Peters, to the o-line, to...on and on.

But this team has been mentally fragile all year.  Today more than ever.

One turnover and they just mentally folded, like a switch went off.  They stood around with long faces for the rest of the game.

On some of the 4th quarter drives when Peters made an inaccurate throw, receivers' body language showed that they just didn't believe that Peters was going to get it done.  And Peters not goiing the for first down on the scramble...  Sorry, but you are not going to win by being that weak.

And it seems to start at the top, with JH.  That was an unbelieveably bad offensive game plan and terrible situational play calling.  Just atrocious.

Time to make changes to the staff like urban did last year after losing 31-0. Everyone on offense should be under the microscope. Time to get a real oc and a new ol coach. Merit over loyalty.

in the 5 biggest games of the season. Think about that for a minute. 9 million a year for for the head coach and Michigan averaged around 2.5 turnovers a game in the games that really matter. In year 3. Fuck this. The staff better do some serious soul searching this summer.

The TE dive, I'm speachless. I'm numb and lost for words. We deserved to lose because this was a flat out shit show from a play calling standpoint. Shea Patterson needs to be good because Peters just isn't.

Sick of hearing about the defense. This South Carolina offense fucking sucks. Michigan's offense fucking sucks. Yet of course, its our defense that is "gassed" and "can only do so much". Enough of that shit.

South Carolina figured out how to attack our defense. That was the difference. They countered our aggression with screens and (gasp!) threw catchable balls to their big playmakers and let them go up and get it. As usual, Don Brown's defense started strong and collapsed late. Just like Wisconsin, just like Ohio State.

Meanwhile, we're handing off to the fucking tight end on third and short.

It was a calamity on both sides of the ball as well as special teams.

I finally reached the point where i've accepted that we're not a top tier program. More bark than bite and that's just reality. No reason to buy into the top 5 hype for next year. It's always next year with us. I don't want to hear about how great we will be anymore. We are not great and we will not be treated as such for the next 8 months. We deserve all the criticism and are eternal pretenders until proven otherwise. Now lets go have some Hennessy.

Drevno's play calling was atrocious at too many important times. That handoff to McKeon baffles and defies any potential logical explanation for as to why it was called. The playcalls on the last redzone offensive series, then the 2-4th down calls on the last two series (seriously, that's what you came up with on 2nd and 2, 3rd and 2, and 4th and 2?!)

But this is on the players today. Dumb fumble by Higdon. Dumb throw by Peters. DPJ trying to catch the ball with his effing facemask, safeties getting beat deep AGAIN...

Harbaugh's not going anywhere, so the idiots among us calling for his firing can go fuck themselves. But it's time to hold Drevno's feet to the fire, especially with at least a handful of legit college football offensive coordinators potentially being available.

But today is mostly on the players who shat the bed. It's easy to be tough in a bowling alley.

Sorry, I'm not really one for cliches and platitudes, so save your "buck stops..." for someone else.

Sometimes the problem with a program is the HC, sometimes it's not.

I don't think yesterday's primary issues (yes, plural) are HC issues that would or should lead to firing the head coach. It's a stupid point to try to make. I know emotions were running high, but come on, of all fan bases, Michigan's should recognize what happens when a program fires a Head Coach and doesn't have someone better.

I'd love it if people would after arguing for Harbaugh to be fired, list a name or two with an explanation of why that guy would be better. I think it'd mitigate a lot of the nonsense going on here.

I'll start.

I'd love for Matt Canada to join the staff as an OC. His offense at Pitt in year 1 put up over 40 on PSU and Clemson (granted with James Conner and Nate Peterman, two guys who played in the NFL this season) but a lot of what he does matches up with Harbaugh and what he theoretically would push for.

Canada's offenses do A TON of presnap motion, which they use to try to get a read on what the defenses are looking to do. From that, the C and QB make adjustments. A college defense isn't going to have the time and experience to fully handle this. They run a lot of inside power with outside fakes and vice versa. So the problems of lack of creativity and presnap movement would be a non-issue should this hire be made.

He also put in an NFL route tree with some combo and option routes, which Pep (allegedly) instituted this season too.

I think Canada is more than just a "new name" but stylistically matches what past Harbaugh offenses have done when successful.

Agreed. I think it is the recruitimg starz that make kids feel entitled. Our best DL this year were borderline 3/4 star guys in winovich and hurst. Speight a 3 star qb beat out peters in fall camp. Maybe we need more kids with a chip on their shoulder
